Tonight is the series premiere of Batwoman on The CW at 8/7c. Kate Kane (Ruby Rose, Orange is the New Black) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Gotham is a city in despair, the Gotham City Police Department have been overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott, Strike Back, Hemlock Grove) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety. After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm by kidnapping his best Crow officer — and Kate’s ex-girlfriend — Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy, Jane By Design). Although remarried to wealthy socialite Catherine Hamilton-Kane (Elizabeth Anweis), who bankrolls the Crows, Jacob is still struggling with the family he lost, while keeping Kate — the daughter he still has — at a distance. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes — a vigilante. With the help of her compassionate stepsister, Mary (Nicole Kang), and the crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), the son of Wayne Enterprises’ tech guru Lucius Fox, Kate Kane continues the legacy of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne, as Batwoman. Still holding a flame for Sophie, Kate uses everything in her power to combat the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten, Transporter: The Series, Reign, Birds of Prey), who’s always somewhere slipping between sane and insane. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate soars through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Kids Say the Darndest Things on ABC at 8/7c. Hosted and executive produced by comedic superstar Tiffany Haddish, the hilarious reimagined format showcases a mix of in-studio segments and taped pieces from across the country, all set in front of a live studio audience. The series will capture Haddish’s unique voice and sensibility as she interacts with real kids — and their innocently entertaining points of view. Each episode highlights the comedic perspectives of a diverse group of kids in segments, such as “Kids Rule,” in which kids explain to Tiffany the rules for everything from sportsmanship to dating; “Love Talk,” where Tiffany seeks advice on her love life; “Best Carpool Ever,” with Tiffany taking on carpool duty with a minivan full of kids; “Granny Tiff,” when Tiffany, in prosthetics and dressed up as an older woman, receives technology advice from the kids; and more.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Press on PBS at 10/9c. Set in the world of newspapers in London, this razor sharp and observant drama explores the current turbulent media landscape and the ethical dilemmas that journalists and editors face each day. Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) and Ben Chaplin (Apple Tree Yard) star along with Priyanga Burford (King Charles III) and David Suchet (Poirot).

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Witches of Salem on Travel Channel at 10/9c. At a time when “witch hunt” has burst back into our national vocabulary, Travel Channel presents a terrifying chapter in America’s history, the relevancy of which cannot be overlooked. In examining the mass hysteria that gripped Salem at that time, the series reveals how extreme beliefs can completely change how communities collectively think and, in this case, fatally act. Based upon original transcripts from witnesses at the Salem Witch Trials and layered with expert interviews from historians and authors, Witches of Salem unravels the true story of palpable evil that the residents of this otherwise sleepy Massachusetts village endured in 1692. From reports of possession by the devil, to mass arrests, sensational trials and public hangings, each hour-long episode is an in-depth account of the eight months of fear, panic and horror that overtook Salem, revealing the truth behind this dark legacy in America’s history.

This new weekly one-hour magazine series, hosted by journalist Celeste Headlee and artist Masud Olufani and featuring New Yorker humorist Andy Borowitz, goes beyond the headlines to understand the present by revealing the past. Tonight is also the series premiere of My Horror Story on Travel Channel at 10/9c. Ordinary people share their chilling true tales of surviving the unknown. It’s a wild, horror-filled ride through the supernatural.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Primal on Cartoon Network (Adult Swim) at 12AM/11PMc. From the creator behind the Emmy(R) award-winning series Samurai Jack, comes a new tale that follows a caveman at the dawn of evolution as he forms an unlikely friendship with an almost extinct dinosaur. Overnight last night was the series premiere of Rhythm + Flow on Netflix at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. In this music competition show, judges Tip “T.I.” Harris, Cardi B, and Chance the Rapper hit the streets to find the next rap superstar.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Nancy Drew on The CW at 9/8c. Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenaged detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine…until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans. Devastated by her mother’s passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can re-apply to college. But when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene: Nancy’s nemesis from high school, George Fan (Leah Lewis); a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani); Nancy’s secret boyfriend, Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim); and amiable burnout Ace (Alex Saxon). The five of them must team up to clear their own names — encountering emotional entanglements and even more mysteries along the way. Nancy’s reawakening brings her into conflict with her widowed father, Carson Drew (Scott Wolf), who is dating Detective Karen Hart (Alvina August). And, when a supernatural presence begins to haunt Nancy’s investigation, she discovers that the current crime has an astonishing connection to the unsolved murder of a local girl. Whether the ghost is here to help, or hinder Nancy remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: Nancy’s going to have to unravel the clues from both the living and the dead to solve the crimes.

Friday

Today is the series premiere of The Birch on Facebook Watch at 4/3c. The show is centered around the dark relationship between a synonymous monster taprotector in the woods and a pure-hearted teenager who summons her in a time of crisis. The 14-episode series is based on the award-winning viral short of the same name, and will be told from multiple character perspectives as their lives are indelibly shaped by The Birch.

Tonight is also the 90-minute series premiere of RuPaul’s Drag UK on Logo at 8/7c. Originally airing in the UK, this is based on the American television series of the same name. RuPaul acts as host and head judge, supported by Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, & Graham Norton as fellow judges.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Ghost Nation on Travel Channel at 10/9c. The “OG” paranormal investigators that started it all — Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango — are back for all-new adventures to the other side. Only this time, they’re not alone. The pioneers of the genre respond to urgent calls from local paranormal investigators nationwide who have reached a dead end with their harrowing personal cases, helping homeowners who are dealing with high-stakes hauntings, and people whose lives have been overtaken by unexplained phenomena. Armed with brand new state-of-the-art technology and their meticulous methodology, the team under their new banner, United Paranormal Research Organization (UPRO), will face the most challenging and dangerous paranormal mysteries the country has to offer. With the help of their local contacts, they’ll embed themselves in the community, conducting robust multi-day investigations in an effort to track down the true source of these hauntings and restore peace to the living…and the dead.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Hometown Horror on Travel Channel at 11/10c. Many white picket fence communities across America are gripped with tales of horror, mystery and intrigue that have lingered over these towns for centuries – dark forces haunting unassuming communities with stories of the undead, ghouls, monsters and things that go bump in the night. Hometown Horror delves into these quiet communities to examine what is behind these stories and myths, and to shine a light on what may be lurking in the shadows of small-town America — such as the Pigman of Angola in New York, the hauntings of circus town Baraboo, Wisconsin, the blood-stained history of Perryville, Kentucky, and more.
