Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back – Channel 4

Joe Lycett is one of the best up-and-coming comedians in the UK, and his television show on a Friday is unlike anything else. Lycett makes it his mission to stand up for the little guys in the world of business by taking the fight to the huge corporations on their behalf. In the past, he has stood up against email scammers, traffic wardens, and even Hugo Boss, the latter of which even saw him change his name to Hugo Boss according to WeLoveBrum.co.uk. It is one of the most underrated programmes on British television, and who doesn’t love a true underdog story?

The Graham Norton Show – BBC (And BBC America for folks in the US)

Nobody does a chat show like Graham Norton. The Irishman has hosted the most popular chat show in the UK for the past ten years, and much of that is down to the calibre of guests that he is able to attract. In the past, he has managed to welcome superstars such as David Beckham, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, and George Clooney. He makes a chat show unlike anything else on TV, with Matt Damon recently calling it “the best time” he has ever had on a chat show. ( https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/sep/29/graham-norton-became-the-undisputed-talk-show-king ) Norton is able to make the superstars feel at home so much that they let their guard down and open up about issues that they wouldn’t normally talk about. If they have a secret skill, you’re bound to know about it by the end of the show.

Coronation Street (ITV) & EastEnders (BBC)

No night in is complete without unwinding on the soap operas. The most popular in the UK remain EastEnders and Coronation Street. Fans of both are in for a treat, as they can watch both back-to-back-to-back. Coronation Street remains the longest-running soap opera in the world and remains as important today as it has ever been. The soap continues to tell important stories that leave an overriding feeling on fans regarding important issues such as mental health struggles, controlling relationships, and battles with addiction. EastEnders is similar in the storytelling, but it doesn’t quite hit home in the way that Coronation Street manages to.
