Tonight is the series premiere of The Kings on Showtime at 8/7c. In boxing, it is said that styles make fights. From 1980 through 1989, it was the style of four great fighters that not only made legendary fights, it ushered in a boxing renaissance. The fierce rivalry between world champions and future Hall of Famers known as the “Four Kings” — Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Durán, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns, and Sugar Ray Leonard — produced a Golden Age defined by the nine world championship fights between them and solidified their place among the greatest to ever live. This four-part series chronicles the four fighters’ dramatic and divergent ascents to greatness and the legendary matches they produced. It spotlights boxing’s evolution from the end of Muhammad Ali’s era to the era of the Four Kings, set against the seismic political and socio-economic shifts taking place in the United States. The Four Kings rose to fame as the presidency of Jimmy Carter and economic recession gave way to the boon of 1980s capitalism and excess harnessed by the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Through in-depth interviews and archival footage, the series also examines the very personal battles that each man waged on his unique journey to the center of the sports world.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Little Birds on Starz at 9:03/8:03c. Based on Anaïs Nin’s erotic short stories, the show follows New York heiress Lucy Savage (Juno Temple) fresh off the transatlantic steamer and ready for love and marriage in exotic climes. But when her husband Hugo (Hugh Skinner) does not receive her in the way she expected, she spins off into the surprising, diverse, and degenerate world of Tangier in 1955. Period drama about an ingénue abroad this is not. Instead, Little Birds is a modern tale of a woman losing and then finding herself down a mesmerizing rabbit hole. What Lucy discovers is a world in flux, a country quivering on the cusp of independence, populated by a myriad of characters including a provocative dominatrix, Cherifa Lamor (Yumna Marwan) who particularly captures Lucy’s imagination. This is a bold and subversive re-invention of melodramafor our times that takes the audience on a witty, moving and provocative journey towards freedom and independence. It also stars Amy Landecker, David Costabile, Jean-Marc Barr, Kamel Labroudi, Matt Lauria, Nina Sosanya, Raphael Acloque, & Rossy De Palma.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Domina on Epix at 10/9c. This epic, sweeping eight-part drama series takes place during one of the most provocative periods in Roman history. Filmed in Rome, the show follows the extraordinary rise of Emperor Augustus Caesar’s third wife, Livia Drusilla, played by Kasia Smutniak (Perfetti Sconosciuti, Loro, Devils). The series will bring to life the exploits, affairs, and battles for political clout that surrounded this power couple who sat at the heart of the Roman Empire. The cast also includes Matthew McNulty (Misfits) as future emperor Augustus (played by Tom Glynn-Carney, Dunkirk, ll re, Tolkien), Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) as Claudia Octavia, Gaius’s sister; Christine Bottomley (The End of the F***ing World) as Scribonia, Gaius’s first wife and Livia’s mortal enemy; Colette Dalal Tchantcho (The Witcher) as Antigone, Livia’s trusted handmaid who has been granted freedom and becomes her confidant; Ben Batt (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Agrippa, Gaius’s childhood friend, then general and later consul. Alongside them, Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) playing Livius, Livia’s father, and Isabella Rossellini (Blue Velvet, Death Becomes Her) playing Balbina. The actress Nadia Parkes (Doctor Who, The Spanish Princess) plays young Drusilla in the first two episodes of the series.

Overnight was the premiere of the Discovery+ docu-film Chasing the Thunder. Impossible to control or police, the world’s oceans are home to outlaw fisherman who threaten not just marine life but the future of our blue ocean planet. Where laws that govern the oceans are not followed, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, founded by Paul Watson in 1977, provides Interpol with the crucial evidence needed to prosecute illegal fishing vessels. Captain Peter Hammarstedt, who makes ocean protection his personal life mission, travels with his international crew to fight for the compliance of international laws against environmental fishing crimes. Chasing the Thunder, a real-life eco-thriller, propels audiences to the edge of a vast frontier to witness an epic 110-day high seas adrenaline chase across three oceans and two seas. Sea Shepherd crews and two fearless captains track down ocean criminals on the notorious poaching vessel the “Thunder” and prove conviction and resilience can do what many unenforced laws cannot – protect the world for marine life and ocean conservation. In the film, which premieres to mark World Ocean Day, the Sea Shepherd vessels the M/V Bob Barker with Captain Hammarstedt and the M/V Sam Simon helmed by Captain Siddharth Chakravarty, spend months chasing the Thunder which has been making millions of dollars from illegal poaching for a decade. As the Thunder makes its haul to catch the protected Antarctic Patagonian toothfish (Chilean Sea Bass), a highly sought-after prize in the worlds fish market, Captain Hammarstedt, and Captain Sid and their crews zero in on the fugitive vessel with a shocking and dramatic end after a 10,000-mile sea chase, the longest pursuit of an illegal fishing vessel in history.

Overnight was also the Discovery+ special Secret Islands of the Pacific. Embark on a visual journey through the lens of photographer and filmmaker Ian Shive to experience the remote and protected Pacific coral atolls islands, where few have had the opportunity to explore. In this magical tour of these remote, tropical waters, you’ll swim and soar through an exotic immersion into one of our planet’s most exotic and beautiful habitats.

Overnight was also the premiere of The Amusement Park on Shudder. Recently discovered and restored 46 years after its completion by the George A. Romero Foundation and produced by Suzanne Desrocher-Romero, The Amusement Park stars Martin’s Lincoln Maazel as an elderly man who finds himself disoriented and increasingly isolated as the pains, tragedies and humiliations of aging in America are manifested through roller coasters and chaotic crowds. Commissioned by the Lutheran Society, the film is perhaps Romero’s wildest and most imaginative movie, an allegory about the nightmarish realities of growing older, and is an alluring snapshot of the filmmaker’s early artistic capacity and style and would go on to inform his ensuing filmography. The “lost” film was restored in 4k by IndieCollect in New York City.

Overnight was the complete first season premiere of Starstruck on HBO Max. The show follows Jessie (Rose Matafeo), a millennial living in East London juggling two dead end jobs and navigating the awkward morning-after-the-night-before when she discovers the complications of accidentally sleeping with famous film star Tom (Nikesh Patel). It also stars Emma Sidi, Minnie Driver, & Sindhu Vee.

Overnight was the complete first season premiere of Weekend Getaway with Michelle Buteau on Discovery+. Michelle Buteau is a hilarious comedian, talented actor, accomplished author, and loving wife and mother of twin toddlers – and she hasn’t had a moment to herself in years. In this new series, executive produced by Queen Latifah, she takes a break from home life and hits the road for a few weekends of much-deserved fun, food and wild times with her comedian pals. In each episode, Michelle and a friend take a no-judgment, potentially debaucherous journey to locales across the country, from the gulf coast of Mississippi with Tig Notaro to New Orleans with Sasheer Zamata to Malibu with Chelsea Peretti.

Tonight is the series premiere of Reunion Road Trip on E! at 9/8c. The four-part special event series catches up with the beloved cast members as they reconnect with old friends, reflect on their trailblazing shows that helped shape the television landscape, and share surprising revelations and behind-the-scenes scoop. With exclusive, candid conversations with the stars as viewers have never seen them before, each episode delves into their earliest days from auditions to first impressions, their continuing legacy and everything in between. Shows revisited include All My Children, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, A Different World, & Scrubs.

Tonight is the series premiere of The Cube on TBS at 9/8c. Based on the UK megahit and hosted by NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade, this high-octane series spotlights contestant pairs who must demonstrate skill, nerve and determination as they endure seemingly simple physical and mental tasks — all while confined in “The Cube,” an intimidating glass box with its own mind and attitude, in the hope of winning a major cash prize. Working on their own or as a team, each pair has nine lives to complete seven games that are worth an increasing amount of money as they inch closer to taking home the $250,000 jackpot. The show features new challenges in every episode to keep the teams on their feet and allow host and executive producer Dwyane to show his own skills. Each team can bring Dwyane in to take “One Shot,” a call-to-action where our NBA champion enters “The Cube” to lend his athletic prowess and compete on their behalf for one attempt only. Additionally, the series launches with the latest augmented reality GFX and camera technology.

Tonight is the complete first and second season premieres of Timewasters on IMDB TV at 12:01AM/11:01PMc. Created by BAFTA and British Screenwriting awards nominee Daniel Lawrence Taylor, Timewasters is a half-hour comedy about a struggling four-piece South London jazz band who time travel via a urine-soaked elevator in a dilapidated block of flats. In the first season, the band travels to 1920s high-society London — encountering pop culture luminaries, historical figures and everyday citizens — and in the second season, the time-traveling quartet is transported to London in the 1950s. Met with strange stares and genuine curiosity in both eras, the group hilariously navigates the clash of cultures and social conventions all while exploring worlds that are, at once, both incredibly familiar and painfully foreign. It stars Adelayo Adedayo, Daniel Lawrence, Kadiff Kirwan, & Samson Kayo.

Overnight was the premiere of the feature film Infinite on Paramount+. Based on The Reincarnationist Papers by D. Eric Maikranz, Infinite is a sci-fi action thriller starring Mark Wahlberg as Evan McCauley, a man on the brink of a mental breakdown who finds himself taken in by a mysterious group of individuals known as “The Infinites.” He has his world turned upside down by the group when they reveal to him that the skills he doesn’t remember learning and memories of places he’s never been, which have haunted him all his life, are actually memories from his multiple past lives. The film follows Evan as he works with The Infinites — a select few who are born with the awareness and knowledge of their past lives — to uncover a collection of secrets buried in his past. The only catch is that he and The Infinites must do so in order to stop the efforts of another Infinite (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor), one who wishes to put an end to all life and stop the reincarnation cycle he thinks everyone is trapped in. It also stars Sophie Cookson (Kingsman), Rupert Friend (Homeland), Dylan O’Brien (Love and Monsters and Maze Runner), and Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place), as well as Liz Carr, Toby Jones, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Tom Hughes, Kae Alexander, and Wallis Day.

Overnight was the premiere of the Peacock special The Greatest Race. The special will explore one of the most unbelievable moments in Olympics history, including the greatest relay split of all time the 4×100 men’s team relay during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Team USA’s Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones, and Jason Lezak trailed France, the strong favorite coming into the Games. In the final leg, 32-year-old Lezak from Team USA was losing ground to Alain Bernard, the 100m freestyle world record holder and anchor of the French team. Then, the impossible happened. Lezak swam the fastest relay split ever at 46.06. The race kept alive Michael Phelps’s astonishing pursuit of a record 8 gold medals in 8 events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The documentary will feature swimmers revisiting the race, giving insight into the athletes’ relationships in and out of the pool and the moments surrounding the Olympic Games, as well as commentary from all eight swimmers from the American and French teams plus race announcers Alexandre Boyon and Rowdy Gaines.

Overnight was the premiere of the feature film In the Heights on HBO Max. The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is a likable, magnetic bodega owner who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines, and sings about a better life. In the Heights fuses Lin-Manuel Miranda’s music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience. The movie stars Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Bareera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV, Stephanie Beatriz, Dascha Polanco, and Jimmy Smits.

The documentary special examines the harrowing events leading up to the murder and the astonishing court case that followed. Getting to the very heart of evil and to where the actual terror lies, the family, aided by renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, must do battle with overpowering demons. Based on the real-life inspiration for the new horror film, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, this terrifying documentary dives into the true story, with never-before-seen interviews with the family, the Warrens, the defendant’s lawyer and local police.
