Tonight is the series premiere of The Time Traveler’s Wife on HBO at 9/8c. Adapted by Steven Moffat from the beloved novel of the same name, The Time Traveler’s Wife follows the spellbinding and intricately out-of-order love story between Clare (Rose Leslie, Game of Thrones), and Henry (Theo James, Divergent), and a marriage with a problem: time travel. At 6 years old, Clare meets Henry, the future love of her life – and who, as a time traveler, is actually visiting from the future. Fourteen years later, when a beautiful redhead wanders into the library where Henry works, claiming not only to have known him all her life but to be his future wife, a magical romance ensues that is as sprawling and complicated as Henry’s attempts to explain his “condition.” Over six hour-long episodes, the genre-bending drama series expertly weaves themes of love, loss, marriage, and survival – in a story that defies the laws and logic of time.

Overnight was the complete limited series premiere of Black Gold on Paramount+. This gripping three-part documentary series exposes a global conspiracy that plunged the world into crisis. Black Gold is the story of the coverup of the century: of the boss atop a trillion dollar industry who discovered a shocking truth 40 years ago, created a black ops campaign to hide the evidence, and stopped at nothing to keep the money flowing, as the world burned. Among the characters in this thriller about the plot to trade our planet for profit are a CEO nicknamed “Iron-Ass;” whistleblowers from Exxon’s own labs; professional climate deniers; a NASA scientist and a US Vice-President. In Episode 1, “Apocalypse Later,” Exxon’s elite scientists discover the greenhouse effect, but when they report their findings, the company’s bosses turn cagey. As executive Lee Raymond climbs the ranks, Exxon slashes research, but NASA scientist James Hansen’s testimony to Congress reveals the truth. Raymond realizes Exxon is facing crisis. “Black Ops,” the second episode, begins as the Exxon Valdez tanker crashes into an iceberg, spilling millions of gallons of oil and creating a second PR crisis for Exxon. To kill two birds with one stone, Exxon leads a secret alliance of American business leaders to discredit global warming science and remake American politics. Al Gore and James Hansen are in the path of Exxon’s war machine. In the final episode, “The Reckoning,” investigative journalists find proof of the “black ops” conspiracy and Attorneys General from several states set out to hold Exxon accountable, while Lee retires with a $400 million pay package. Exxon is a fortress. Activists and politicians try a bold David-vs-Goliath move, but in the end only an unexpected underdog will stand a last chance of stopping the giant, and saving our world from unimaginable horrors.

Australian murder mystery drama Troppo is the story of Ted Conkaffey, played by Thomas Jane (The Expanse, The Vanished), an ex-cop falsely accused of committing a disturbing crime, who has escaped to hide away in the tropics of Far North Queensland. As he tries to avoid discovery, he’s drawn into investigating a wild murder and a missing person, alongside a complicated woman named Amanda Pharrell (Nicole Chamoun), with dark secrets of her own. Troppo is based on the book “Crimson Lake,” the first novel in a gripping contemporary crime series set in Queensland, Australia, written by Candice Fox.

Overnight was the premiere of the documentary film Alien Endgame on Discovery+. According to the film, a 2021 Pentagon report revealed what the government had denied for decades: UFOs are real and may pose a threat. The film posits that aliens coming to Earth might have far more sinister goals than simple exploration.

Overnight was premiere of the feature film Dual on AMC+. A woman opts for a cloning procedure after she receives a terminal diagnosis. Following an unexpected recovery, her attempts to have her clone decommissioned fail, leading to a court-mandated duel to the death. The film stars Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad).

Overnight was the Discovery+ special The Retro Plant Shop with Mikey & Jo. With help from her big sister Joanna Gaines, Mikey McCall launches the business of her dreams: a retro-inspired plant shop that blends her passion for gardening with her love of unique, vintage items.

Tonight is the premiere of the feature film Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers on Disney+ at 12:01AM/11:01PMc. Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip (voice of John Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (voice of Andy Sandberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life. It also stars Kiki Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, & Chris Parnell.

Tonight is the 2-hour part 1 of the 2-part documentary special George Carlin’s American Dream on HBO at 8/7c. Directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio, the two-part limited series chronicles the life and work of the legendary comedian. Carlin’s career spanned half a century during which he headlined 14 HBO comedy specials and appeared on The Tonight Show over 130 times, constantly evolving with the times and staying sharply resonant up until his death in 2008 and beyond. The documentary examines a cultural chameleon who is remembered as one of the most influential stand-up comics of all time. The two-part documentary tracks Carlin’s rise to fame and opens an intimate window into Carlin’s personal life, including his childhood in New York City, his long struggle with drugs that took its toll on his health, his brushes with the law, his loving relationship with Brenda, his wife of 36 years, and his second marriage to Sally Wade. Intimate interviews with Carlin and Brenda’s daughter, Kelly Carlin, offer unique insight into her family’s story and her parents enduring love and partnership. Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Patton Oswalt, Stephen Colbert, Bill Burr, Bette Midler, W. Kamau Bell, Sam Jay, Judy Gold and Jon Stewart are among those interviewed for the project.
