Tonight is the series premiere of Magpie Murders on PBS at 9/8c. In a fresh, beguiling twist on the traditional murder mystery, with a solution that will both astonish and shock viewers, Magpie Murders – adapted from Anthony Horowitz’ bestselling novel by the author himself – centers on book editor Susan Ryeland and the unfinished mystery manuscript featuring her unpleasant, prima donna author’s longtime detective, Atticus Pünd. When Susan attempts to attain the final chapters, she’s plunged into a shocking mystery case of her own – one which will change her life in ways she’d never expected. Artfully weaving between two interlocking time periods, the 1950s and the present day, starring Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread, World on Fire) as Susan Ryland and Timothy McMullan (Patrick Melrose, Foyle’s War) as fictional DI Atticus Pünd, is sure to delight even the most hard-boiled mystery fan!

Tonight is the series premiere of Annika on PBS 10/9c. Unforgotten’s Nicola Walker has traded in cold cases for maritime murders as DI Annika Strandhed in Annika, a new police procedural with a wry wit. Juggling enigmatic cases while trying to raise her rebellious teenage daughter, the droll and dry-witted skipper of Glasgow’s newly-formed Marine Homicide Unit drops literary references, breaks the fourth wall, and keeps viewers riveted through twists and turns galore. Walker is joined by Jamie Sives (Guilt) as DS Michael McAndrews, Annika’s old colleague; Katie Leung (The Nest, Roadkill) as DC Blair Ferguson, the forensic brains behind the unit; and Ukweli Roach (Grantchester) as DS Tyrone Clarke, the new cop at the station.

  1. A. Parks says:

I recently discovered that I could watch the latest episode of War of the Worlds beginning at 12am EST on Sundays – which was really helpful because Sunday nights are very busy and jam packed with shows I like!
