The show follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters, to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet. The series also stars Andrea Savage (I’m Sorry), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Max Casella (The Tender Bar), Domenick Lombardozzi (The Irishman), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Jay Will (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), A.C. Peterson (Superman & Lois) with Garrett Hedlund (The United States vs. Billie Holiday).

Tonight is the series premiere of Rogue Heroes on Epix at 9/8c. This is a dramatized account of how the world’s greatest Special Forces unit, the SAS, was formed under extraordinary circumstances in the darkest days of World War II. Based on Ben Macintyre’s best-selling book of the same name, the series centers on David Stirling, an eccentric young officer, who is hospitalized after a training exercise gone wrong. Convinced that traditional commando units don’t work, Stirling creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare. He fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest, and brightest soldiers for a small undercover unit that will create mayhem behind enemy lines. More rebels than soldiers, Stirling’s team is every bit as complicated, flawed, and reckless as it is brave and heroic. It stars Connor Swindells, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Allen, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sofia Boutella, & Dominic West.

As Jan confronts the painful events that shaped her, she meets another survivor of Berchtold’s abuse, who shares her own experiences for the first time. Overnight was the complete first season premiere of The Dry on Sundance Now. Roisin Gallagher (The Fall, Come Home, Made in Belfast) stars in The Dry as Shiv Sheridan, a 35-year-old woman who’s spent years partying in London. Now she’s six months sober and going back to Dublin for her grandmother’s funeral. But being back with her family makes staying on “the dry” much harder than she expected. No one in Shiv’s family expected her to come home permanently, and her return is now forcing them to confront (begrudgingly) the individual and collective demons they haven’t wanted and still don’t want to face. The marriage of her parents, Tom (Ciarán Hinds, Kin) and Bernie (Pom Boyd, Frank of Ireland), is shaky. Her overachieving sister, Caroline (Siobhán Cullen, Dalgliesh), is wound tighter than a spring. And her younger brother, Ant (Adam John Richardson, Intruder), never wants the party to end. While recovery may have equipped Shiv with great ideas and helpful tools, her family and ex-boyfriend, Jack (Moe Dunford, Redemption), will put practically everything, including her newfound sobriety, to the test.

  1. MI6 says:

ALEXANDER LITVINENKO FSB & BILL FAIRCLOUGH MI6
In the 1990s Alexander Litvinenko worked for Russian Intelligence investigating, infiltrating and tackling international organised crime. He was poisoned with polonium-210 by Russian Intelligence in London and died shortly afterwards in November 2006. The case made headlines around the world and many books and films have been published about it.

In the 1970s Bill Fairclough worked for British Intelligence investigating, infiltrating and tackling international organised crime. He was poisoned with botulism toxin in London, went into a coma and nearly died in June 1974. No one told the press about it and in 2014 a little publicised non-fiction book was printed which disclosed what transpired.

What happened to Bill Fairclough (MI6 codename JJ aka Edward Burlington) is as described in the non-fiction espionage thriller Beyond Enkription, the first stand-alone novel in The Burlington Files series.

Indeed, in 2001 Bill Fairclough later became a favoured patient of the renowned neurologist Professor Andrew Lees in London’s University College Hospital. Why? As Lees said at the time, it was a rare pleasure being able to research a patient who hadn’t died from having been poisoned with such a large dose of botulism toxin.

Of course, if you are a true espionage aficionado and know about puffer fish poisons used by the Stasi and Ian Fleming’s “Trout Memo” you will have already studied Beyond Enkription and know a lot about The Burlington Files and also the links twixt MI6 Colonel Alan Brooke Pemberton CVO MBE, Colonel Oleg Gordievsky, Kim Philby, David Cornwell and Greville Wynne.

Pemberton’s People in MI6 even included Roy Astley Richards OBE (Winston Churchill’s bodyguard) and an eccentric British Brigadier (Peter ‘Scrubber’ Stewart-Richardson) who was once refused permission to join the Afghan Mujahideen. See the news article about Pemberton’s People, Ungentlemanly Officers & Road Heroes dated 31 October 2022 on The Burlington Files website for more.

Do look up the authors or books mentioned on Amazon, Google The Burlington Files or visit theburlingtonfiles.org and read Beyond Enkription about events in Harley Street and Whittington Hospital in London.

Thank you MI6. I don’t watch a lot of tv these days, but was thinking about Once Upon A Time In Londongrad. Your summary here helped make the decision to watch it AND look further into the history dating back to the ’70s. Fascinating. Troubling, but still fascinating.Thank you.
