If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/7/11

It’s hard to believe it’s Friday the 7th already. Seems like just yesterday, it was Christmas. Now? My baby is about to turn 13! I just turned 34, and I didn’t feel old. But realizing my kid is going to be a TEENAGER on Sunday?! THAT makes me feel old! lol So yeah, I’m praying the clock slows down enough to realllllllly drag out the next few days, but unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to happen. At least I’ve got new TV to console me! 😉 We want to thank Jim for guest posting with us this week. He’s been fun to have, hasn’t he? Thanks, Jim! 🙂

There isn’t a whole lot to choose from tonight, but I’m happy, because there is a new episode of CSI: NY. Tonight, we get a special treat, too, because David James Elliott (JAG, Scoundrels) guest stars as FBI Agent Russ Josephson, Jo’s ex-husband.

On tonight’s episode, when a man in a full clown costume shoots a bakery owner, the CSIs investigate and discover a decision from Flack’s past that may put him in jeopardy.

Don’t miss this new episode tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of CSI: NY @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/6/11

(From Jim:) Was it really just last week, I had downtime, was sleeping in, watching TV for myself and not work, and actually reading a book?? Well, it seems like that was a hundred years ago, because this week kicked off the TCAs. The Television Critics Association happens in January and July in Los Angeles, and all the networks (cable and broadcast) trot out their new shows, talent and hold panels, receptions and mixers for journalists like myself to mingle and chat (with digital recorder in hand in case any scoops come up!). Yesterday, I sat at a panel for TV Land’s Hot In Cleveland and it’s just a WOW moment every time you see Betty White. Amazing. I’ll be tweeting throughout today on Turner’s upcoming offerings as well as the OWN Network (yes, Oprah will be in da house!). But once I finish my day, I’ll be watching this…

Remember that really bad shooting over at Seattle Grace last Spring during Grey’s Anatomy’s season finale? Well, after a ho-hum sixth season, that shoot-out must have woken up the writers, because season 7 has been back to great form of interesting cases, lots of breakups, makeups, and overall great drama. The cast is clicking together like never before. While I wasn’t excited to have to see Cristina (Sandra Oh) go through her post-traumatic stress disorder by tending bar and then going on a fishing trip with Derek (Patrick Dempsey), the writing was sharp and fresh and the scenes were perfectly crafted.

In tonight’s episode, a shooting at a school finally snaps Cristina out of her funk for good and gets her back where she belongs – the operating room. I strongly suggest if you’ve let Grey’s slip over the last year or two, quickly return and watch some great TV.

The new episode of Grey’s Anatomy airs tonight on ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grey’s Anatomy @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/5/11

This first week back after holidays seems to be moving a bit slow. Perhaps it’s a hangover from all the chocolate and treats we ate over the holidays, I’m not sure. One thing I do know is that having all our favorite shows making their way back to a normal schedule definitely helps fight the after holiday blues. Speaking of favorite television, let’s see what we all think you should be watching tonight. 😀

It may not be everyone’s top choice tonight, but I’ll be watching Human Target. I don’t know if it’s the fact that Mark Valley who plays ‘Chance’ is so sexy, the sarcastic humour of Chi McBride, or the excellent action scenes. Whatever it is that draws me in, I love it and keep coming back for more.

On tonight’s double episode, a rift develops between Ilsa and Chance when his former girlfriend (Leonor Varela) implores him to rescue a colleague who was kidnapped by a South American despot. Meanwhile, an inept private eye (Tony Hale) may have blown his last case.

To see how all this drama unfolds, tune into FOX tonight at 8/7c for back to back new episodes. Learn where to find episodes online of Human Target @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/4/11

Ugh, running behind today, because I couldn’t get to sleep last night, and then after I finally did fall asleep around 6:00 this morning, I was woke up when my husband’s alarm went off at 7:00, then again at 8:00 when my son left. I’ve been awake since. My eyes hurt and I’m exhausted. Happy day. Luckily, there’s some new TV on tonight to make me happy after what is sure to be a long day, so let’s get to it!

Like last night, my choice for tonight is a reality show. Tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of Live to Dance on CBS at 8/7c. Paula Abdul is back, after leaving her job as judge on American Idol a couple of seasons ago. In one of the most inclusive talent searches on television, dancers with raw ability, in any age group from across the nation (either performing solo or in a group) can audition in any form of dancing – ballet to break dance, tap to tango, or their own unique fusion of styles – rock ballet, hip-hop clogging or contemporary mixed with capoeira. The most talented dancers who make it through the callback process will have the chance to perform live in the semi-finals and finals, where they will battle for the right to be crowned champion and be awarded a $500,000 prize. Executive producer, lead expert and mentor Paula Abdul will be joined by host Andrew Günsberg and fellow experts, choreographer Travis Payne and singer/dancer Kimberly Wyatt.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/3/11

It’s Monday and a lot of our shows are returning this week, including the return of Pretty Little Liars. I hope we all had great holidays, but can agree that it’s great that everything is returning to normal in our television universe. 🙂 Let’s take a look at what we all think you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

My boyfriend returns tonight, but don’t worry, my husband already knows and is okay with it. 😉 Of course, I’m talking about Alex O’Loughlin and the return of Hawaii Five-0 tonight on CBS. I am excited about the recent recognition that the show has gotten with the Golden Globe nomination for Scott Caan as best supporting actor in a series.

On tonight’s episode, McGarrett’s sister is kidnapped and the investigation uncovers new clues about his mother’s murder, which includes possible ties to the Japanese mafia. To see how the Five-0 team saves the day, tune into CBS tonight at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hawaii Five-0 @ Clicker.
