If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/15/14

I’m not sure about anyone else, but I think that this weather has been the weirdest we’ve had in a long time. One day, it’s warm, sunny, and spring-like. The next, it’s snowing?! Honestly, I dare not pack away the winter clothes because at this rate, we’re going to get a snowstorm in July! To keep my mind off the schizophrenic weather, let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

ncisla415smallThis season of NCIS: LA has been a complete emotional rollercoaster, especially with the story line involving Kensi and Deeks. I was so excited to see Kensi back, but I think I hated her in Ops as much as Eric did, although I do admit to liking Nell in the field. Kensi is still my favorite girl agent, though. They haven’t written themselves into a corner with the relationship, because at the moment, there really is no set decision for them. They could be together or not—I vote for together! On the other hand, Sam and Callen are both kicking ass and taking names as usual; especially last week, when they solved a murder that surrounded money embezzled from Al Qaeda years ago. In the end, the money was found and the bad guys went away, which in my books is a good ending.

On tonight’s episode, “Three Hearts,” when an undercover NCIS agent is suspected of working for the smuggler he’s supposed to be investigating, the team takes him into custody to find his true intentions. Meanwhile, Kensi and Deeks discuss their personal relationship as Kensi returns to the field.

To see where Kensi and Deeks head, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/14/14

It’s the start of another week, but thank goodness it’s a short week, with Easter at the end of the tunnel. Let’s see we’re recommending tonight to help us unwind after another manic Monday.

Megan’s Choice

bones414smallBones has been having a really strong season, but I’m also really loving the move to Mondays. The character development has been great, especially when it concerns relationship growth for Booth and Bones. Last week’s episode brought up quite a controversial issue about marijuana used for medical reasons, with the victim of the week being a woman who was suffering from MS and worked at a dispensary. The issues were intensified when Wendell came back to work and admitted that he was using cannabis to help with the side effects from the cancer treatments. Cam fired him because, even if it is legal in DC, the Jeffersonian is federally sanctioned, and on a federal level, marijuana is illegal. This caused a rift in the team, but in the end, Booth helped Wendell get a job back at the Jeffersonian as a consultant, because that makes it out of federal jurisdiction. I loved how this subject was handled and how the team eventually came around and helped each other.

On tonight’s episode, “The Cold in the Case,” the team investigates the death of a woman who is cryogenically frozen; Cam is hesitant about meeting Arastoo’s parents; Booth is up for a promotion. Shohreh Aghdashloo (Grimm, 24) guest stars.

To see what kind of promotion our favorite FBI agent is up for, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, Mom, Star-Crossed, The Following, & Rick & Morty.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/13/14

I had a very nice, very relaxing and enjoyable Saturday. Worked on the schedules for the site, played some video games, caught up on a lot of TV, and spent lots of time with family. 🙂 Sunday looks to be more of the same. The only blip on the radar is my left mouse button on my laptop’s touch pad is making a clacking noise. Thankfully it’s under warranty, so HP is sending me all the shipping stuff, so I’ll be sending it off later this week. Again thankfully, we have my old laptop that my husband’s been using, so I’ll be able to use it while mine is getting repaired. Pain in the butt, but whatcha gonna do? To take my mind off that little problem, let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

americasbestcooksmallAnother new food competition show starts tonight. America’s Best Cook gives home cooks from across the country the chance to win $50,000 by competing under the guidance of Food Network chefs: Cat Cora, Tyler Florence, Alex Guarnaschelli and, my personal favorite, Michael Symon, each representing the South, West, East, and North respectively. Sixteen home cooks will be divided into groups of four per mentor, and then the mentor takes two of the four dishes from the four cooks and put them up to be judged. I love, love, love Michael Symon. I like Cat Cora and Tyler Florence. So I’m really looking forward to this one.

On tonight’s episode, “Making the Cut,” sixteen of the country’s best amateur cooks arrive in New York for their chance at $50,000 and the title of America’s Best Cook. But first, they must compete to represent their region, in one of two spots on a Superstar Chef Mentor’s team. Iron Chef Michael Symon will be choosing from the North, Iron Chef Cat Cora takes the South, Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli is heading up the East, and Food Network star Chef Tyler Florence is representing the West. The Mentors will be choosing wisely, as they will also be out of the competition if both of their cooks are eliminated.

Check out the home cooks and see how the mentors work with them tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, American Dream Builders, Food Court Wars, Cutthroat Kitchen, Believe, Catch a Contractor, Crisis, & The Mentalist.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/30/14

It’s the start of another week, which means we’re in for some more great TV. I’m so excited for some of the stuff that’s on, and that includes tonight, so check out our recommendations. 🙂

americandreambuilderssmallLast week was the premiere of American Dream Builders, and it was a lot of fun. Nate, Monica, & Eddie were great as the hosts/judges, with the surprising twist that the neighborhood council got to walk through each house and help judge who the winning team was. Some of the renovations the teams made were great, but there were some definite mistakes & stupid decisions. Trying to make space for the family, and they turn the master closet into a bedroom for the two kids (a boy and a girl who were already sharing a room), while turning the old room they shared into a new den for the family? Stupid. Nate put the kibosh on that real quick by giving his opinion that it was a mistake, and the team changed their mind, giving one child the new room and the other child in the old room, which they redesigned. And then there was the whole bathroom vanity… Not only was it ugly and horribly refinished, but it wasn’t even functional! A family of that many people who all share one bathroom HAVE to have storage that the team didn’t give them. Crazy.

On tonight’s episode, “Mid-Century Modern,” two teams of designers will tackle sweeping makeovers for two mid-century Modern-style homes that are just a few doors down from one another in Palm Springs, Calif. This week the focus is on bringing a “dream home” to reality. The contestants are challenged to create a stunning “outdoor oasis” and, in the midst of things, must deal with a massive rainstorm that causes delays and frustrations. In the end, one designer from the losing team will be sent home.

See who gets sent home tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Food Court Wars, Believe, Chopped, Resurrection, Catch a Contractor, Crisis, Cutthroat Kitchen, & The Mentalist.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/28/14

It’s been a hectic and busy week around my house, with family visiting and celebrating Pherson’s third birthday. I cannot believe that my baby boy is 3 already. It seems like just yesterday that he was a chubby baby I was rocking to sleep, and now he’s a mischievous little boy who can ride a bike! Let’s see what’s on TV tonight to amuse you and help keep my mind off my baby not being a baby anymore.

hartofdixie328smallHart of Dixie came back with a mess of relationship drama last week, and what a mess it was. Lemon returned, and we found out she’d been dating two guys while she was at her grandma’s, but that all blew up in her face when the two men found out about each other. Don’t be too upset, because both Carter and Enrique want to keep Lemon, so they are going to continue to try to win her affection and see who ends up with her as a prize. Zoe tries hard to please her mom, but in the end, she can’t run a smear campaign against Brick because the town is her family and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Her mom heads home, but at least they parted on good terms. I’m not sure how I feel about Zoe and Joel still being together, but at least he’s trying, and she needs to focus more on figuring out her career and less time searching for acceptance from her mom.

On tonight’s episode, “Ring of Fire,” Joel hires dubious workers for his renovations, resulting in an accident on the site; Lavon struggles to draw ticket sales for a renaissance fair.

To see what happens during the renovations, tune in to The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Say Yes to the Dress, Enlisted, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, and Hannibal.
