If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/27/11

Being unable to get to sleep sucks. Like, really. It means that no matter how hard I try and stay awake through the day, I inevitably crash around lunchtime, sleeping until dinner. Ugh. There goes my day. On a good note, I’ll be wide awake for TV tonight!

I was so excited about last week’s series premiere of the new USA drama, Fairly Legal, and I gotta say, it didn’t disappoint. Sarah Shahi was fantastic in her role in the NBC drama, Life, but this new show gives her the opportunity to try out her comedic chops, and she does it brilliantly. Her character, Kate Reed, is a tough, street smart, ballsy, but good, caring mediator, and last week’s episode gave us the opportunity to see her work under extreme circumstances. The rest of the cast is good so far, too, including Baron Vaughn (who plays Leonardo, her assistant), who is a stand up comic who has starred on Broadway, Michael Trucco (as Justin Patrick, her D.A. ex-husband), who was great on Battlestar Galactica, and last but not least, Virginia Williams (as Lauren Reed, Kate’s stepmother). Kate’s father died before we begin the show, and in the premiere, Kate is still dealing with the effects of his recent passing.

On tonight’s episode, Kate mediates a settlement between the State of California and an innocent man who was wrongfully imprisoned for over two decades, but while she tries to put a price on lost time, the freed man puts himself in a mental prison.

Don’t miss the new episode tonight of what is sure to be another hit on the USA Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Fairly Legal @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/26/11

I’m glad there’s a lot more new television than there was last night. I was not impressed with not having all my favorite Tuesday night shows on last night, but tonight makes up for it. Let’s see what all of us TV addicts think you should be watching. 🙂

Megan’s Choice

I love me some Blue Bloods! Yes, I’m aware it’s another police drama, but it’s not your run of the mill police drama. On one hand, you have the adorable Donnie Wahlberg, who really kicks ass as the tough NY detective, and on the other, you have the esteemed Tom Selleck, who runs not only his own family, but the entire NY police force with ease and wisdom. Trust me, it’s a show worth watching.

On tonight’s episode, Danny investigates when the son of a Russian gangster is killed and Erin is assigned a high-profile corruption case.

Tune into CBS at 10/9c to see the Reagan family catch the bad guys and clean up the streets of New York. Learn where to find episodes online of Blue Bloods @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/25/11

It’s a VERY slow night for new TV tonight because of the annual State of the Union address by the President of the United States. What we have is yours, though, so here are our recommendations! (By the way, was I not RIGHT about last night’s Castle?! I loved watching it a 2nd time just as much as I did the 1st!)

Jenny’s Choice

My choice tonight is kind of odd. I really only 3 shows on tonight, and Megan is doing the only scripted one of mine. The other two are on Food Network, and while I love watching them (Cupcake Wars & Chopped), my recommendation tonight is a show I’m so far behind on, it’s not even funny. But I love the show, and love the cast, and think if you haven’t been watching, you should be. Southland is a fantastic drama with really great storylines, a really great cast, and fantastic characters. That’s why it’s my choice for tonight.

On tonight’s episode of Southland, John offers some veteran advice to Ben when they have to notify someone of a loved one’s passing; Nate offers to let Sammy stay at his place while Sammy struggles with his marriage; Lydia and Josie are forced to deal with an unusual suspect.

Don’t miss tonight’s new episode on TNT at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Southland @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/24/11

As I mentioned on the schedule, I’m really sorry this is up so late! I’ve not been sleeping at night very well the last few nights, so I crashed finally this morning and just woke up. 🙂 Since it’s so late, let’s just jump right in!

I’m so happy about tonight’s TV that I can barely talk! Last week didn’t feature a new episode of Castle, but this week, not only is there a new ep, but it is an important one for the characters, and an AMAZING episode for viewers. I was able to watch the episode the other day, and I’ve been chomping at the bit since for Monday to get here so you guys can watch, and so I can watch again (with my husband, this time!). I will tell you the episode features the case about Beckett’s mother’s murder, and there is so absolutely brilliant episode for Castle/Beckett. If you are a C/B shipper, don’t miss it. 😉

I don’t want to give you the full episode description, because it truly gives away some surprises. Just trust me when I say it’s worth watching. It is one of my top favorite episodes ever.

DON’T MISS the new episode tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/23/11

It’s another week of new television, and there is a lot to watch. As always you can trust us beautiful, smart and charming women (& Mark! 😉 ) to tell you what you should be watching. 🙂 And everyone welcome back Mark, (@theanticritic), who is going to help us out! So let’s get started!

Mark’s Choice

Hello, TV Pacifiers! It’s your boy again, Mark O. Estes of TVOvermind, giving you the best of the best for the week. With most of my favorite CW shows returning after a somewhat long haitus, you might be bombarded with a lot of teen dramas this week. But rest assured, I will try my damndest to not send you down that route. I’ll try to throw in some adult fare, as well.

Like tonight’s pick, which will have to go hands down to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, because Desperate Housewives is on hiatus until February. After the latest explosive battle between frenemies NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak erupted last Sunday, it’s imperative to see how the fight will continue. Tonight’s airing will be the penultimate episode of the season, which means emotions will be on high as Cynthia preps for her wedding and the Battle Between Personalities continues to rage on. If you’ve never experienced a NeNe/Kim fight, then you are in for a bonafide treat!

Don’t miss tonight’s 75-minute new episode on Bravo at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Real Housewives of Atlanta @ Clicker.
