thewalkingdead1011smallTonight, the original The Walking Dead returns for the start of its sixth season. When we last left off, the folks at Alexandria finally got the wake-up call they needed after Father Gabriel stupidly (and intentionally) left the gates open. There was also a tense moment in the season finale where Nicholas tried to kill Glenn, who somehow miraculously survived. Meanwhile, Morgan showed up in time to save Daryl and Aaron, who had been snared in the Wolves’ trap. Morgan and the others arrived back in town just in time to see Rick execute Pete for killing Deanna’s husband. And Michonne took her sword back down from the wall, realizing that there would be no rest for them.

Why hasn’t anyone killed the annoying Father Gabriel yet?! If he wants to kill himself, he should just go ahead and do it and not make everyone else pay for his own feelings of guilt! How are things at Alexandra going to change with these latest events, and what will Morgan think of the new Rick? And will Rick and his crew be able to whip the folks of Alexandria into shape so they will they be ready when the murderous forehead-carving “Wolves” ultimately find their way to this town?

On tonight’s 90-minute premiere, “First Time Again,” Rick and the group continue to have trouble assimilating into Alexandria; and a new threat could bring them closer together or drive them further apart.

Find out the new threat tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Quantico, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, Talking Dead, The Leftovers, Project Greenlight, and Homeland.

undateable2015smallLast season, Undateable did a special live episode, which must have done pretty well, as that the series was renewed for an all-live third season, which premieres tonight. The last time a TV show tried to do this was back in 1992, when the Fox comedy Roc went live for its second season. I like the unpredictable nature of live TV, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the show changes with this new format. And I’ll be anxiously watching for flubbed lines and misbehaving props.

For last year’s one-off special, they pulled in a lot of familiar faces from series creator Bill Lawrence’s previous programs. However, with a full season of episodes ahead, I don’t think they can rely on that kind of all-in-one-episode kind of stunt casting every week. Though, I’m sure we can expect to see some fun guest stars throughout the season.

On tonight’s double-length premiere, “A Will They Walks Into a Bar/A Won’t They Walks Into a Bar,” Danny interferes as Justin and Candace plan on taking things to the next level. Also: Burski surprises the gang with an announcement; and Leslie sets out to reinvent her look. Danny continues to interfere when Justin and Candace consider taking things to the next level. Meanwhile, the gang reacts to Burski’s surprise announcement, and Leslie tries to reinvent her look.

See the premiere of the all-live season tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, Dr. Ken, Z Nation, and Continuum.

criminalminds107smallLast week was the premiere of Criminal Minds, and I was so glad to see it back. I missed JJ, who is out on maternity leave with a beautiful little baby boy, but it was fun meeting Aisha Tyler’s character, Dr. Tara Lewis, who was applying for a position with the BAU. The team had to track down a serial killer who they figured out pretty quickly was actually a contract killer who was going back and killing the people who’d hired him because one of them – he didn’t know which one – had tried to kill him. He’d been shot in the face, which meant he couldn’t speak or eat, so he had to inject a liquid nutrition into a port in his stomach…and he was using that liquid diet injected under the skin to make his victims helpless before he killed them. It was pretty gruesome. Tara Lewis happened to be in the right place at the right time and got on the phone with the killer’s next victim – the cop husband of a woman who’d hired him – to pretend to be his wife in order to let him know they knew the killer was with him and they were going to stop him before he could kill him. It was that performance that sealed the deal for Hotch, especially after Garcia almost begged him to hire her.

I was also glad to see some cute interaction between Morgan and Garcia. Not really lovey-dovey, but sweet and cute, and when he kissed her on her cheek and she said that never gets old, it was adorable.

On tonight’s episode, “The Witness,” when a Los Angeles bus is attacked with sarin gas, the BAU must act quickly to find the suspect before a larger-scale incident occurs. Guest stars include Marisol Nichols (NCIS, 24) as FBI Agent Natalie Colfax, who assists the BAU with the investigation, and Tim Kang (The Mentalist) as Charlie Senerak, a medical supply worker.

See how the team catches the suspect tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Mysteries of Laura, Rosewood, Steampunk’d, The Goldbergs, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Property Brothers, Worst Cooks in America, black-ish, Chicago PD, Code Black, & Mystery Diners.

theflash106smallI’m really excited for the return of The Flash tonight. In this era of the dark, brooding superhero, it was great to see this series take the opposite approach and just have fun. When the first season left off, Wells had given Barry Allen the chance to go back in time to prevent his mother’s murder. While Barry debated the pros and cons of this unique opportunity, Caitlin and Ronnie got married, with their wedding officiated by Doctor Stein. Ultimately, Barry did go back in time, but just to say good-bye, instead of messing with the unknown consequences of changing the past. However, his trip caused a dangerous wormhole to appear. Eddie, knowing that Barry was predestined to end up with Iris, decided to kill himself in order to stop Thawne from being born and end his evil reign. However, this didn’t stop the deadly wormhole, and now a black hole was looming overhead.

How will Barry use his powers to prevent the destruction of Central City? Is Thawne really dead, and will Eddie’s sacrifice cause anything to change? What will happen to S.T.A.R. Labs without Harrison Wells around? What new meta-humans will Barry and his gang come up against this season? I’m looking forward to another fun, action-packed season!

Also returning to the CW tonight is iZombie, which I ended up really enjoying last season. I had the chance to talk with some of the cast and creators of the show at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. You can find my videos at NoReruns.net.

On tonight’s premiere of The Flash, “The Man Who Saved Central City,” Barry decides to protect Central City on his own, but when Atom Smasher attacks, Iris pleads with Barry to let his friends help protect the citizens. Meanwhile, Cisco helps Joe with his Meta Task Force.

See if Barry will let his friends help tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Limitless, The Muppets, Fresh Off the Boat, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, Grandfathered, The Grinder, Scream Queens, and Face Off.

scorpion105smallScorpion is a show that you kind of have to watch while knowing that it could be a little ridiculous – like on the season premiere with the weather balloon – but I love it. It’s a fun show, and as long as you don’t expect complete realism, you can enjoy it like I do. Last week, the team traveled to Cuba when a young woman from Cade’s past came to him for help in locating the war criminal who killed her parents when she was a little girl. It was an off-the-books mission, even though secretly, Molina helped them by setting them up with contacts and a plane to and from Cuba. The team barely made it back when the bad guy escaped right before they met the plane to go home, but they were able to grab him and get him on it before the Cuban police showed up. My favorite parts were how they went in to the barbershop get him and how they got Happy through the bank’s roof to get into the bad guy’s safety deposit box.

I’m really liking Alana De La Garza as the new head of Homeland Security, Adriana Molina. So far she’s worked well with the team. I hope she continues that way, rather than turning into a jerk like the former one did.

On tonight’s episode, “Fish Filet,” in order to save the lives of three judges, Sylvester goes undercover in a federal prison, but Team Scorpion must break him out when his life is threatened. Alana De La Garza and Kevin Weisman guest star.

See how the team gets Sylvester out tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Life in Pieces, Halloween Baking Championship, Minority Report, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, NCIS: LA, & Blindspot.
