I was a big fan of Cash Cab back in the day (ya know, way back from 2005-2013. LOL), a game show that took place in a New York taxi minivan. Host Ben Bailey would pick up a fare, and on their drive to their destination, they would play a trivia game in order to win money. Like a lot of trivia game shows, the contestants could seek help – using pedestrians on the street and by calling friends or family. If they got three questions wrong, though, Ben would pull over and drop them off, regardless of how far they were from their destination.

The show is back tonight, along with host Ben Bailey. This season, some passengers will be joined by a guest celebrity who will help the passengers rack up the cash. The celebrity line-up includes Matthew Perry, Brooke Shields, Scott Bakula, Gilbert Gottfried, Dave Foley, Jeff Garlin, & Susie Essman. I can’t wait to find out how they’ve revamped the series and see if the show is as fun as it was before!

On tonight’s episode, “Celebrity Edition: Scott Bakula,” two rowdy brothers from Alabama test their luck in the cab; an unsuspecting couple are headed uptown when their ride is hijacked by celebrity Scott Bakula.

Check out the new season starting tonight on Discovery Channel at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great Christmas Light Fight, Man With a Plan, Holiday Baking Championship, Superior Donuts, 9JKL, & Christmas Cookie Challenge.

Earlier this year, Amazon released the pilot for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as part of its spring pilot season. The episode got rave reviews, and the series was picked up a month later for 2 seasons. Early today, Amazon dropped the entire first season exclusively for Prime members (non-Prime members can still check out the pilot). Set in New York City in 1958, the series follows 26-year-old housewife Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan, House of Cards), whose life seems so perfect, just before it comes crashing down. Her husband Joel (Michael Zegen, Rescue Me) is a successful businessman by day and struggling comedian by night. The couple has two children – 3-year-old Ethan and a new baby girl. Midge is the portrait of a perfect housewife, maintaining the home and supporting her husband is his career and comedic aspirations. However, one night after bombing at a comedy club, Joel announces to Miriam that he’s leaving her for his secretary. Miriam drowns her sorrows in alcohol and, in her inebriated state, ends up on the stage at the comedy club. Shedding her prim and proper exterior, Miriam lets loose and instantly wins over the crowd, but her lewd behavior and crude language attracts the attention of the local authorities. However, club manager/wannabe agent Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein, Family Guy, Getting On) sees potential in Midge and wants to help her launch a stand-up career.

The series comes from Gilmore Girls creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and husband Daniel Palladino, and even though this highly-serialized series is a period comedy/drama, it shares a lot in common with the Palladinos’ previous series. It centers around a young single(ish) mother dealing with her disappointed parents – always-irritated father, mathematics professor Abe (Tony Shalhoub, Monk) and more-supportive but overprotective mother Rose (Marin Hinkle). The family’s apartment in the Upper West Side is quite stately, and they have a maid – not unlike the Gilmores’ Connecticut home. Characters are constantly breaking into rapid-fire banter, and while there aren’t any troubadours, the Palladinos have still managed to weave musical performances in throughout the episodes. Even though the series is set in New York City, it still manages to capture a small-town feeling at times.

The series is really well written, with interesting characters, witty dialogue, some great character drama and development, and some fun recurring jokes. Rachel Brosnahan is charming in the lead role, even when she’s cursing like a sailor. And the supporting cast is also a lot of fun, especially Tony Shaloub and Alex Borstein. Other actors that pop up in the first few episodes include Kevin Pollak (Angel from Hell) and Caroline Aaron (Episodes) as Joel’s parents, Luke Kirby (Rectify) as comedian Lenny Bruce, and Max Casella (Doogie Howser, M.D.) as a lawyer. I checked out the first four episodes and could have easily watched more if that had been made available. I look forward to checking out the rest of the season on Amazon!

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Speechless, Modern Family, American Housewife, Designated Survivor, Survivor, Riverdale, Vikings, MythBusters, and Mr. Robot.

Tonight is the conclusion of the 5-episode “Sanctuary City” arc on Major Crimes. It’s been an eventful arc so far with surprises happening every episode. Last week, we not only found out Sharon had been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (and I loved how she turned Rusty’s question about what he can do to help into him agreeing to a protection detail! LOL), but Lucas’s drug-addicted father was found dead in his office. Everyone believes it was an overdose. Was it self-inflicted – and if so, then on purpose or accident? Was it murder? I think the other two doctors or whoever they are in his practice have been hiding something, so…maybe it was them? And we learned from the remaining two boys that Lucas had taken them to a limo and then they’d been sprayed with something that knocked them out and made their throats hurt, and then they woke in Mexico. Chloroform was found on their clothes, so maybe? But they were also found with opioids in their bags in Mexico, so…I’m still as confused as ever.

Tonight wraps up this arc, thank goodness. It’s been a fun and interesting case, but I honestly have no idea what the truth is, and I’m ready to move on!

On tonight’s episode, “Sanctuary City: Part 5,” as the case of the St. Joseph’s Three leads to its unexpected conclusion, Commander Sharon Raydor attempts to balance the case, her family arriving, and her fast approaching wedding to Lt. Andy Flynn.

Find out the truth to all the unanswered questions tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Lethal Weapon, Chopped, MasterChef Canada, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, & Chicago Med.

Wisdom of the Crowd has really grown on me, and it has a lot to do with the writing. Last week the FBI came to investigate Sophe, and they said it was due to the virus that shut down the site, but it turned out the virus was sent by the NSA. The FBI was actually working with the NSA, and they were there to find out who the leak was that helped Tanner on the case a couple weeks ago concerning the online game that encouraged kids to kill themselves. Tanner figured out what was going on and they backed off, but I’m sure this won’t be the end of them trying to get to Sophe.

On tonight’s episode, “Proof of Concept,” Tanner is offered new evidence in Mia’s case if Sophe can prove someone is innocent of murder. Also, Tanner and Sara begin depositions with AllSourcer for the rights to Sara’s work and Sophe’s code.

To find out if they can get the evidence about Mia, tune in to CBS at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching NCIS: LA, Guy’s Grocery Games, and Guy’s Big Project.

The S.W.A.T. writers have been doing an excellent job of letting us get to know the characters deeper each week, and last week we learned some interesting details about Street. Street’s mom is in jail for killing his father, but it was because his father was abusive and she wanted to protect him. However, his mother is definitely no saint, seeing as she uses emotional blackmail over Street to get him to do things for her. She convinced him to pay a visit to a guy on the outside who she claimed was abusive toward his supposed girlfriend. She wanted Street to warn the guy to stay away. It didn’t go well and ended with Street getting arrested for fighting. Hondo came and got it sorted out, but he wasn’t pleased.

Later Hondo got some information about Street’s mom and went to the jail to visit her. It turned out he learned that the guy wasn’t her friend’s boyfriend but the guy who helps supply her with contraband she can then sell in prison, and he was working more with the supposed girlfriend than Street’s mom. Hondo warned her that Street wouldn’t be coming to visit her for a while because she needed to stop manipulating her son. I was very happy to see Hondo stand up for Street, and I’m interested to see what happens next.

On tonight’s episode, “Radical,” after a domestic bomber dies in a Highland Park explosion, the SWAT team races to find the man’s partner before more devices detonate. Also, Hondo reaches out to Buck, his former team leader, when he worries he is isolating himself after his recent firing.

To find out if the team can find the partner before another bomb goes off, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Young Sheldon and Beat Bobby Flay.
