Last week on Better Call Saul, we got the genesis of one of Breaking Bad’s key relationships – Mike met Gus Fring! Gus didn’t want Mike to kill Hector Salamanca but said he was free to mess with him all he wanted. So Mike hatched a clever plan involving sneakers and a rifle to make sure there was drug residue on the outside of Salamanca’s delivery truck when it tried to cross the border. Meanwhile, the police showed up at Chuck’s to arrest Jimmy, and one of his former public defender coworkers gave Jimmy a hard time when he saw him in the holding cell. Jimmy made bail and, despite Kim’s protests, decided he wanted to defend himself.

I like how the series is quickly moving toward Breaking Bad, setting up the pieces and the relationships that were in place when that show began. Can Jimmy get himself cleared of the charges levied by Chuck? If not, is this what is going to ultimately lead him to become Saul Goodman? What is Salamanca going to do in response to Mike’s actions? And how close are we to learning how he became the wheelchair-bound, mute, bell-ringing guy we saw at the start of Breaking Bad?

On tonight’s episode, “Sabrosito,” Jimmy calls in a favor from Mike. Meanwhile, new complications disrupt the Salamancas’s business; and Chuck and Jimmy struggle to compromise.

Find out what favor Jimmy calls in tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, The Great Indoors, Gotham, Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, and Angie Tribeca.

Last week’s NCIS: LA found the team (mostly Sam & Callen) working with Hetty’s friends/former colleagues Retired Admiral AJ Chegwidden and Admiral Sterling Bridges while tracking a fourth friend/former colleague, Retired Captain Charles Langston. Langston pretended to be a homeless man asking for money on the street in stalled traffic, and all seemed calm until he got to a car and freaked out, smashing in the window and then getting into the car and holding the former driver/now passenger hostage. The victim ended up being a guy in charge at the veteran’s hospital who treated the veterans like dirt and didn’t do what he should have been doing for support. Langston didn’t kill him, just left him tied up for Kensi and Deeks to eventually find. Then he went to the VA hospital and donated all the money he’d gathered and had stockpiled, ranting about how all the people needed to be seen. In the end, it turned out the REAL bad guys they all ended up chasing had stolen a bunch of gold bars Hetty and the men had been set to use to pay off a ransom, but then it wasn’t needed. So it’s been sitting in a secure safe ever since…until the bad guys figured out where it was and stole it.

We also learned more about Granger, who was another of the colleagues involved in their group. It was nice to see them thinking about him! But my favorite moment had to be in the pawn shop, where Deeks saw a wedding veil and told Kensi she would look beautiful in it. She froze and then teared up a bit, and when pressed, she admitted that since her father wasn’t alive, she’d planned to ask Granger to walk her down the aisle. It was a very, very touching moment – and I’d love to see them go back to that moment when Kensi and Deeks get married.

We’re coming up to the final eps of the season. This current story line wraps tonight in time for the last two episodes, which will focus on Sam, his wife, and Tahir Kalid. How the rest of the team will play into the Sam-focused story line, I have no idea, but I’m sure they will. Will Deeks be haunted once again by Internal Affairs at the LAPD? Will we get a Deeks/Kensi proposal? What about Callen? Will we see Anna again? Maybe we’ll get some answers to some of those tonight…

On tonight’s episode, “Golden Days,” a gold heist investigation has the NCIS team working with Hetty’s former Vietnam War colleagues, Retired Admiral AJ Chegwidden (John M. Jackson), Admiral Sterling Bridges (James Remar), and Retired Captain Charles Langston (Carl Lumbly).

See if the team can help recover the stolen gold tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Little Big Shots, Chicago Justice, Iron Chef Gauntlet, Match Game, & Iron Chef Eats.

Tonight, I’m looking forward to the return of Ginormous Food on Food Network. Each episode finds comedian/host Josh Denny in a new city, on the hunt for delicious but insanely proportioned food. He talks with restaurant owners and chefs to learn more about their menus and the massive signature dishes their establishments are known for and then heads into the kitchens to see how these culinary monstrosities are brought to life. After taking a bite of one of these ginormous dishes – which never seems to disappoint him – Josh provides his review and then serves up much more reasonable size portions to the other restaurant patrons, asking for their feedback. I really enjoyed the first season of this series. There were some pretty amazing looking dishes…but you’d need to be dining with the Duggars if you’d have any hope of finishing them!

On tonight’s second season premiere, “Atlanta: Barbecue, Brunch and the Bayou,” Josh rolls into Atlanta in search of a titanic Southern trinity. He hits up a BBQ joint with a 5-pound muffaletta piled high with pulled pork, brisket, collard greens, and coleslaw. Then he finds a 9-foot po’ boy boasts 30 pounds of fried shrimp, crawfish, oysters and alligator at a Louisiana-style restaurant. Finally, a true Southern staple of 3 pounds of chicken and waffles and a dozen fried eggs piled atop two-foot wide pancakes.

Check out the huge portions tonight on Food Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Toy Box.

Last week, we met Dr. Halstead’s father on Chicago Med, when Will’s brother Jay (from Chicago PD) called and told him his father was having some trouble. He took Dr. Rhodes with him and they convinced the man to go to the hospital. Turned out he had some heart problems that were getting worse. Will’s dad was a gruff, almost mean guy, but in the end, after he had surgery to fix his heart problems, he and Will shared a touching moment. It was really sweet. Dr. Rhodes also had to deal with the worsening problems of his girlfriend, Robin…who is Dr. Charles’s daughter. She was hearing things (specifically rats in the walls). Dr. Charles tried to ask how she was doing, but she didn’t want him “shrinking” her. In the end, they convinced her there’s something wrong, and that story carries over into tonight.

The saddest story line from last week, though, had to be the teenage boy who came into the ER after being beaten up at school. Turned out he was having trouble controlling his sexual urges. At school, he’d been found peeping into the girls’ locker room, and the boys who found him beat him up. But he begged Dr. Choi to castrate him because he couldn’t control himself, and he was afraid it would get worse and he’d do something really bad. Dr. Choi agreed to talk to his parents (who were SUPER religious) about chemical castration, which isn’t permanent, but his parents said no way. Unfortunately, the boy was later caught in a sleeping female patient’s room. He tried to tell Dr. Choi she looked cold and he was covering her up, when in reality he was uncovering her. He ran into the bathroom after grabbing some scissors and proceeded to harm himself, trying to give himself a true, physical castration (or something). It was really a horrible, sad story.

On tonight’s episode, “Deliver Us,” Dr. Rhodes fights to save a mother who’s desperate to help her daughter beat cancer. Dr. Charles asks Sarah to conduct his daughter Robin’s psych evaluation but has difficulty staying out of the case. When Will and Dr. Manning spend more time together at work, Nina goes to extreme measures to get Will’s attention. Meanwhile, Dr. Choi puts pressure on Noah when a residency spot becomes available.

See if Sarah can help Robin tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, MasterChef: Junior, The Great Indoors, Farmers’ Market Flip, & Impractical Jokers.

Today, Hulu kicked off its ten-part adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel, The Handmaid’s Tale. The series is set in a dystopian near future where birth rates have plummeted and a large section of the country is ruled by a militant religious group. Fertile young women are kidnapped and forced to become handmaids – surrogates for the sterile wives of the leaders of the sect. Offred (Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men, Top of the Lake) was taken a while back along with her baby, and is now on her third assignment, to bear a child for the Commander (Joseph Fiennes, American Horror Story) and his wife (Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck). In this society, people who don’t follow the rules wind up dead, so Offred has learned to keep her mouth shut and stay in line. However, she still hasn’t given up the idea of finding her daughter, and this hope is revived when she hears from handmaid Ofglen (Alexis Bledel, Gilmore Girls) that a secret resistance is forming.

Today, Hulu has released the first three episodes of the series and will follow this up with one episode per week each Wednesday. I checked out the first two episodes and found the series to be a really intense, well-acted drama, but there’s also some nice moments of humor to cut through the tension. While Offred is very reserved when it comes to speaking aloud in this dangerous, oppressive new world, we constantly hear her sarcastic inner monologue, where she holds nothing back. There’s also this really interesting use of music that is a bit off-kilter compared to the drama unfolding on screen. The cast is excellent. In addition to those already mentioned, Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black) plays Offred’s college friend, who was also abducted, and Ann Dowd is so wonderfully wicked, playing a character not unlike her role in The Leftovers. The first few episodes set up a really interesting premise and characters and introduce some surprising twists. I’m can’t wait to see how this story plays out!

Check out the first three episodes now on Hulu, and then tune in every Tuesday night/Wednesday morning when new episodes come out at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Speechless, black-ish, Designated Survivor, Survivor, Criminal Minds, Arrow, The 100, Fargo, and Archer.
