Tonight, Syfy’s end-of-the-world time-traveling series, 12 Monkeys, returns for its penultimate season with a special binge-worthy 3-night event. Syfy is airing entire 10-episode third season over the course of the next three nights! Tonight, the first four episodes air back-to-back with limited commercials. Then, the remaining six episodes will be aired in two 3-hour blocks on Saturday and Sunday night.

The series follows the story of time traveler James Cole (Aaron Stanford), who was sent back in time to prevent a cult known as the Army of the Twelve Monkeys from unleashing a deadly virus that wipes out most of the world’s population. Cole meets modern day virologist, Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull), and enlists her help in his quest as they try to locate and identify the mysterious leader of the Army, known only as “the Witness.” While Cole and Cassie have the help of their ragtag team in the future and the assistance of the seemingly crazy Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire, Schitt’s Creek), who has a knack for being able to see into the future, the Army of the Twelve Monkeys always seems to be one step ahead of them.

As the second season came to a close, Cole and his crew traveled to Titan to stop the Army’s attack but were unprepared for the fact that Titan itself was the Witness’s machine. The group soon found themselves separated – Deacon was captured, Jennifer was splintered to a French battlefront in 1917, the Striking Woman took Ramse to a reunion with his son, and Cassie was splintered into the future in 2163. She found herself surrounded by messengers as the Pallid Man informed her that she was actually carrying the Witness inside her.

I’m thrilled that we are finally going to get a continuation of that jaw-dropper of a reveal – that Cole and Cassie’s son was in fact the Witness that they had been searching for all this time! What plans does the Army have for the mother of their unborn leader? Will Cole be able to find/rescue Cassie, and how will he take the news about his son? How will our group get back together, and will they be able to stop the Army from completing their plan to destroy time itself – and will they need to sacrifice the child in order to do so?

I’ve checked out the first few episodes of the new season, and I am so happy this show is back. It’s SO good! The writers waste no time in introducing interesting new twists and mysteries that will play out over the course of the season. And based on what they’ve done in previous seasons, I have no doubt that we are in for a well-planned and executed roller-coaster of a ride over the next 3 nights! I can’t wait to see what happens and where they leave us going into the fourth/final season. Plus, there are some amazing guest stars this season, including Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Hannah Waddington (Game of Thrones) and James Callis (Battlestar Galactica).

On tonight’s premiere, “Mother,” in the apocalypse of 2163, a desperate Cole searches for Titan. Meanwhile, a captive Railly is faced with an impossible choice as the 12 Monkeys await the arrival of The Witness. On the second episode, “Guardians,” while searching for Jennifer Goines in post-WWI France, Cole and Jones encounter a dangerous group of time-travelers: the Guardians.

Then on the third episode, “Enemy,” bonds of trust are tested when Ramse returns to the facility with an old enemy held captive. How far will Cole and Jones go for the answers they need? And finally, on the final episode of the night, “Brothers,” Ramse and Cole splinter to 2007 expecting either a trap – or a final chance to kill the Witness. But when Cole discovers a heartbreaking truth, he’ll discover that the mission was both.

The action starts tonight on Syfy at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Toy Box, and Ginormous Food.

Last week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was explosive…literally. The doctors were working on two people whose car had been driven off a cliff. As Stephanie Edwards tended to the male, Keith, the female regained consciousness and told the doctors that a man had kidnapped her at knife-point and planned to rape her. Bailey sounded the alarm and initiated a lockdown, but Keith held his knife to Edwards’s neck and demanded she help him escape. The pair ended up locked in a corridor along with a young girl, with sealed security doors preventing them from leaving. While Keith was distracted trying to find a way out, Edwards set him on fire. After struggling, he collapsed by a large tank of flammable liquid. Edwards ran to move the body, but there was a huge explosion. Meanwhile, Owen’s sister was found alive in Germany and was going to be transferred to Grey Sloan once she made it stateside. And Alex Karev managed to track down Jo’s abusive husband and imagined various scenarios playing out exacting his revenge, but all of them ended badly for him, and he ultimately did nothing to the man.

Did Edwards survive? Who was harmed and/or killed in that massive explosion? This seems like the way you would end a season, but we still have one more episode, so can we expect to be left with an even bigger shocker tonight? Will we meet some of the firefighters from the newly announced Grey’s spin-off series as they deal with the explosion?

On tonight’s season finale, “Ring of Fire,” the doctors’ lives are at risk after a dangerous patient escapes the hospital room. Meanwhile, Alex makes a hard choice in his relationship with Jo; and Meredith has some big news for Nathan, bringing things to a turning point.

See how the season ends tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, The Blacklist, MasterChef: Junior.

Tonight, ABC’s Wednesday comedies have their season finales, and for two of tonight’s shows, that means high school graduations. On The Goldbergs, it’s Erica who’s graduating, and on Modern Family, both Manny and Luke will be finishing up their high school experiences. Both of these series have already been picked up for next season (Modern Family for two more seasons!). I can’t imagine these shows without Erica, Luke, or Manny, but I’m sure the writers will find some way to ensure that these characters’ post-graduation activities cause them to remain close to home. I always enjoy these family comedy season finales, as there’s usually some sort of big family event tied into them. However, I will really miss these shows over the summer!

On tonight’s The Goldbergs finale, “Graduation Day,” graduation day is quickly approaching, and Erica cannot wait to get out of the house, until it dawns on her how much Beverly’s love means to her. Meanwhile, Barry’s plans for himself and Lainey turn to dust; and Dana makes a surprise visit just as Adam and Jackie officially become a couple.

Later, on tonight’s Modern Family finale, “The Graduates,” Javier shows up for Manny’s high-school graduation and takes him out for a wild night of celebration, but Jay must step in to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile, the rest of the Pritchett clan get ready for Luke and Manny’s big day.

To check out the graduations, tune in to ABC at 8/7c & 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Speechless, Downward Dog, Designated Survivor, Survivor, The 100, Fargo, and Archer.

Jenny’s Choice #1

There are so many things on tonight that I want to recommend that I had trouble even narrowing it down to two… So I picked the two that I’m most excited about or knew I’d enjoy the most. First up is the double episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This show always, ALWAYS makes me laugh. Last week, we first got to see the Nine-Nine go to Cop-Con, which was pretty much what it sounded like: Comic-Con for cops, with presentations, gadgets, etc, all geared toward law enforcement. The group has always used the time to party and let off some steam, but this year, Captain Holt asked them to be on their best behavior since he was trying for a position on some board of law enforcement officers. So the team decided they’d still party (even opting to host it themselves when the group who usually threw the big party was arrested! LOL), but they’d do it on the down-low. Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as planned. Holt’s laptop was stolen by his biggest rival and his presentation messed with – surprise, surprise!

Then on the second episode, Amy was studying for the Sergeant’s exam, but as always, she was obsessing and freaking out…so much so that she was ready to quit. I loved how Jake tracked her down by getting into her shoes, prompted by Rosa. When he finally cornered her on the rooftop from “The Bet,” she admitted that she was worried because their relationship might change. Jake was very sweet and said even if it did, they’d get through it. And there was also some great stuff with Capt. Holt and Terry, basically competing to see who could build the “best” model train set – best being the operative word. Capt. Holt thought the best one was accurate down to the most minute detail, while Terry let his imagination fly. It was pretty funny to see the little boy come in and scoff at both, asking where the video games were. As the mother of a young man who was a little boy not so long ago, I can totally relate!

I’ve seen tonight’s double episode, and I have to say they’re some of my favorites in a while. For one, we meet Capt. Holt’s mother. Yes, you read that right: WE MEET HIS MOTHER, who is basically a slightly older, slightly more feminine version of Capt. Holt himself. LMAO And second, we get more Jake/Rosa stuff, which is always fun. Finally, we see something we’ve never seen before when Scully and Hitchcock are not only at odds but almost knock-down-drag-out fighting. Fun!

On tonight’s double episode, “Your Honor/The Slaughterhouse,” Captain Holt’s mom (guest star L. Scott Caldwell) seeks support from the precinct after her house is robbed. Meanwhile, Terry, Rosa and Boyle remodel the breakroom and Amy teaches Gina how to change her own car tire. Then, Jake and Rosa try to earn the respect of their idol, Lieutenant Melanie Hawkins (guest star Gina Gershon), while Charles, Terry and Gina test different parenting methods to resolve a conflict between Scully and Hitchcock.

Meet Mrs. Holt tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’m loving seeing the Scorpion team stranded on the deserted island after their plane crash landed while on the way to a job-slash-honeymoon for Happy & Toby. Unfortunately, the pilot was injured – his arm was trapped, which led to compression syndrome. If they simply pried his arm loose from the wreckage, the poison that had built up would be free to travel through his bloodstream and would kill him. So Toby “MacGyvered” his way to building basically a filter using things from the plane and the island, and they were able to save the pilot’s life and his arm. The team tried to get the attention of a passing ship, but even with the flare they sent off, the ship didn’t see them or turn around. And since they figured out the EMP sent the plane off course without the pilot realizing, they know they’re VERY far from where they should have been and not in a highly trafficked area, and help may not be coming anytime soon, if at all.

Sylvester is having the hardest time with their situation. He was actually very un-Sly-like last week, much less scared and anxious, since he was sure they were going to die and therefore wasn’t afraid of it since he felt it was a foregone conclusion. And one of the funniest parts of the episode was Walter trying to be all lovey-dovey with Paige. He kept calling her different pet names and basically just being too sugary sweet. At first it kind of annoyed Paige, but she realized that it was just the only way he knew to react to his feelings, since they’re new to him. It was all very sweet and funny.

Tonight is the season finale. The team’s been stranded for three weeks. I can’t wait to see how it’s affecting everyone, especially Sylvester. The previews for him look awesomely funny!

On tonight’s episode, “Scorp Family Robinson,” three weeks after they crash land on a deserted island, tensions run high for Team Scorpion when they must battle to overcome their relationship obstacles in order to be rescued.

Find out how the team overcomes these obstacles tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kids BBQ Championship & Man With a Plan.
