thegoodwife104smallI’m excited for the return of The Good Wife tonight. When we left off last season, Kalinda met with Lester, Lemond Bishop’s lawyer, and threatened to release information she had on him if he didn’t leave Alicia and the others alone. Meanwhile, Peter got word that the Democratic National Committee wanted him to run for president in order, with the ultimate goal of him becoming the top contender for VP. This news excited Zach and Eli, but Alicia and Grace weren’t too thrilled. And elsewhere, when Diane, Cary, and David Lee discovered that Louis Canning’s wife was working at their firm under her maiden name, they immediately fired her. Louis then stormed into their office threatening to burn their practice to the ground. The season ended with Louis at Alicia’s door, asking her if she wanted to partner with him.

Will Alicia take Louis up on his offer? Will he really try to destroy the firm that fired his wife? How will this season play out now that Alicia is on her own? Will we see her going up against her former partners in cases, or will she once again try to join them? And what about Peter’s political aspirations? Will they finally cause Alicia and Peter to publicly dissolve their relationship?

On tonight’s episode, “Bond,” Alicia attempts to revive her struggling law career by representing arrestees seeking release on bail in bond court. There, she meets attorney Lucca Quinn, who competes for her clients. Meanwhile, Peter brings in a national strategist to help with his presidential campaign, which creates an interesting dynamic with Eli in the process.

Check out the season premiere tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, Once Upon a Time, Blood & Oil, Quantico, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, The Strain, Fear the Walking Dead, The Leftovers, Project Greenlight, Homeland, and The Affair.

drken102smallTonight, Ken Jeong (Community) takes on his first starring sitcom role in the new series Dr. Ken. While Dr. Ken Park is a great physician, he is completely oblivious to his horrible bedside manner. The series is half office comedy/half family sitcom, following Ken as he tries to balance his work and family lives. There’s always some crazy patient or office politics to deal with at work with coworkers Damona (Tisha Campbell-Martin), Clark (Jonathan Slavin, Better Off Ted), Julie (Kate Simses, Mixology), and boss Pat (Dave Foley, NewsRadio). And when Ken heads home, teenage daughter Molly (Krista Marie Yu, The Thundermans) and nerdy son Dave (Albert Tsai, Trophy Wife) keep him busy – but therapist wife Allison (Suzy Nakamura, Go On) is also there to help keep him centered.

Based on tonight’s pilot, I can’t say that this is a show that I’ll be checking out every week. However, those looking for another TGIF-style family sitcom to kick off the weekend, this may be what the doctor ordered. Ken Jeong’s character is a bit more subdued from his usual films and TV roles, but those who enjoy his style of humor will probably like this role as well.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” Ken needs a therapy session with Allison when he tires of his patients’ complaints; and Molly’s driving test makes her dad nervous that she just might pass.

Meet Dr. Ken and his family tonight on ABC at 8:31/7:31c.

I’ll be watching/recording The Amazing Race, Z Nation, and Continuum.

bones101smallWhen we last saw Bones, Brennan was pregnant with baby #2, she and Booth decided to quit the Jeffersonian & FBI, and Angela and Hodgins had decided to stay. Obviously Brennan and Booth leaving the FBI & Jeffersonian won’t stick – it wouldn’t be even remotely the same show if it did. But at this point, we don’t know how or why they come back. Well, I know… I’ve seen the first two episodes of the season. When the season starts, time has jumped forward six months. Brennan, Booth, and Christine have been joined by the new little boy in their family. Arastoo has taken over Brennan’s spot temporarily while Cam looks to hire someone permanently. And Aubrey is doing well at the FBI – although Booth isn’t completely gone; he’s simply teaching courses, rather than working in the field, as we’ll learn in the coming episodes. The season starts out with a bang, so don’t miss it!

On tonight’s episode, “The Loyalty in the Lie,” six months after starting a new life with her family, Brennan becomes interested in a case to which she has personal ties; an FBI investigation begins when Booth goes missing. Kim Raver & Dilshad Vadsaria guest star.

See what ties Brennan has with the case and why Booth goes missing tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Heroes Reborn, Beat Bobby Flay, The Player, & Geeks Who Drink.

codeblack930smallThere are a lot of police procedurals on TV currently and have been for years. There’ve been a good number of medical dramas as well, although there aren’t a ton of those on right now. For me, I’ve been missing a really good medical drama (that hasn’t become totally a soap opera) since ER went off the air. I have hopes that tonight’s premiere of Code Black will fill that whole in my TV lineup.

Based on the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, it’s centered around the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation – Angels Memorial in Los Angeles –where the staggering number of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses – creating a condition known as Code Black. Marcia Gay Harden plays Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish, known for performing high-risk procedures in Center Stage, the trauma area reserved for the most critical cases. Her four new first-year residents are Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville), Malaya Pineda (Melanie Kannokada), Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth), and Angus Leighton (Harry M. Ford). Leanne’s confidante, Jesse Sallander (Luis Guzman), is an amiable seen-it-all senior nurse who manages the residents. Raza Jaffrey plays Dr. Neal Hudson, an excellent physician who sometimes disagrees with Leanne’s “cowboy” approach, while William Allen Young plays Dr. Rollie Guthrie, the energetic, longest-serving attending in the ER.

I’ve seen tonight’s premiere, and it’s really a great hour of television. You’ll be missing out if you don’t at least check it out.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish puts her four new first-year residents to work immediately on their first day at Angels Memorial Hospital, in the busiest ER in the nation.

Meet the new doctors tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll be watching/DVRing The Mysteries of Laura, Rosewood, Steampunk’d, The Goldbergs, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Worst Cooks in America, black-ish, & Chicago PD.

grandfathered929smallI’m excited for tonight’s premiere of Grandfathered on FOX. John Stamos is back on TV in the role of successful restaurateur and ladies’ man Jimmy Martino. He’s suave, handsome, and loves living the life of a popular bachelor…until a young man shows up out of the blue at his restaurant, claims he’s Jimmy’s son, and then introduces Jimmy to his daughter – Jimmy’s granddaughter – Edie. First Jimmy has to decide if he’ll actually let his son and granddaughter into his life, and then he has to learn how to become someone less selfish with a family.

I’ve seen tonight’s pilot and really enjoyed it. Stamos is a lot of fun (and still as sexy as ever), and Josh Peck is great as Gerald, Jimmy’s son. And I loved seeing Paget Brewster (from Criminal Minds) as Gerald’s mother.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a successful bachelor named Jimmy is shocked when he finds out that not only does he have an adult son, but also a granddaughter.

Meet Jimmy, Gerald, & Edie tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, The Grinder, NCIS: NOLA, Chopped, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, & Limitless.
