Wednesday is probably my favorite night of TV as a whole, especially tonight, though, because my Chicago shows are back! We get the season premieres of Chicago Med, then Chicago Fire, and finally Chicago PD. Before I talk about the new season, let’s jump into a short recap about each show…cause you know those season finales were a LONG time ago! LOL

Last time on Med, Ethan was riding along with paramedics, really just to put some distance between him and April, who told him she’d finished moving her things out and gave him back his key. But when he rushed into a convenience store where a guy was holding hostages and was then held at gunpoint himself, April learned of the news and rushed to the scene. They hugged when he was released, and it looks like maybe something could happen between them again. Back at the hospital, Will had reason to doubt Hannah’s honesty about going to a meeting when her ex, a drug addict, shows up at the hospital, needing treatment, and Hannah tells Will he called her for help. Yet Will found Hannah’s cell phone in her apartment after she’d already left for her NA meeting. She explained that the ex had called a mutual friend at the meeting, who told her. He said he believed her, but was she telling the truth or was he just being naïve? Finally, two detectives from New Orleans showed up, and it came out that Crockett was a suspect in a murder that happened there three years before. Wanting more information about Crockett, Natalie cornered an old friend of his who was visiting, and he informed her that back then, Crockett was going through a lot because he had a daughter who died from leukemia after her first birthday. After some deducing and questions, Natalie figured out that Crockett had donated bone marrow, and the actual killer was the recipient, who apparently acquired Crockett’s DNA. Who knew?

On Fire, Capp was injured while on a call (but will be okay), and Severide took it hard because it shouldn’t have happened. He did some investigating into the scrapyard where the explosion occurred and found that they had a history of shady behavior. He was able to convince OSHA that fines like they had been giving just weren’t cutting it. He found out later that the place got shut down. Meanwhile, Foster reapplied for medical school and was accepted, so Annie Ilonzeh won’t be back this season. And poor Brett learned that her (now dead) birth mother’s husband was taking his daughter (Brett’s half sister) and moving back to Rockford because Chicago was too expensive on one salary. And Kidd’s first and most promising Girls On Fire participant suddenly went MIA, and Kidd is now worried.

Finally, on PD, Atwater was really the big story. He went undercover to do a gun deal with a bunch of…well, KKK-type guys and learned once he was in there that he had to work with Doyle, one of the (racist) uniformed officers (now a detective) who’d stopped him and treated him so poorly before. The guy was also undercover. It wasn’t going to be fun for Kevin. But the guy apologized, and they ended up working well together. He convinced Kevin to have a drink with him afterward. On the drive, he kept trying to apologize, but Kevin didn’t want to talk about it. Then they saw two guys on a street corner talking, one of whom was holding a duffel bag. Doyle stopped because he said he saw a drug deal. Kevin asked why, because he’s Black? Doyle asked what was in the bag, and the kid wouldn’t answer, instead just ran into the building. Doyle followed him in, and before Kevin could follow, he heard gunshots. He found an injured Doyle before getting into a shootout himself, and Doyle later died. Intelligence found that it was being used as a stash house, although the duffel bag only contained a pair of sneakers. Trudy advised Atwater to visit Doyle’s family’s house to give his condolences, and everyone there was hailing Doyle as a hero. But when Intelligence finally arrested the shooters, they claimed Doyle shot first, and Kevin told Voight they were right, that there was no probable cause for the stop, and he wanted to say something. Voight told him he and Intelligence would back him if that was what he wanted to do. In the end, he did that, and when he arrived home, Doyle’s partner was there, just waiting and watching. Then a bunch of patrol cars went by silently, their lights on, as if to tell him they were watching him. Dun dun dun…

Between COVID and the racial unrest happening across the country, #OneChicago has its hands full. I can’t wait to see how all three shows handle it all!

On tonight’s Chicago Med, “When Did We Begin to Change,” the entire staff at Chicago Med adjusts to the new normal of the pandemic. Dr. Choi, Dr. Lanik, and April fight on the front lines. Dr. Halstead and Hannah face a troubling reality. Dr. Charles tries to clear the air with his daughter following recent developments.

Then on Chicago Fire, “Rattle Second City,” Firehouse 51 welcomes a new member to the team, whose presence could provide some complications. Brett’s leadership shines during a scary call. Boden sees great potential in Kidd and proposes an idea that could have lasting repercussions.

And finally, on Chicago PD, “Fighting Ghosts,” the team responds to the shooting of a 5-year-old girl and they must work the case while facing new obstacles that come from the heightened attention on police reform. Atwater is targeted by a group of officers who want to hurt him for standing against the blue wall. Voight questions whether he’s cut out for a new form of policing as he manages oversight from the CPD’s deputy superintendent.

Don’t miss the exciting premieres tonight on NBC starting at 8/7c.

My picks tonight are both on CBS, so I’m just lumping them in together. Both NCIS: LA & NCIS: New Orleans premiere tonight, and I’m so excited. I hate how COVID has wreaked havoc with my TV!

When we last left off in Los Angeles, Nell was pretty burned out and ready to turn in her papers, but Hetty convinced her to take her vacation and think about things. Also, Sam and Callen were dealing with a case in which two SEALs claimed their chief (Senior Chief Argento) murdered an unarmed prisoner. Turned out Argento was a bad dude, but even though they were finally able to arrest him, he told them he would get off scot-free. (His wife has connections with a senator, and Argento thinks he’s untouchable.)

Then in New Orleans, Khoury was deep into taking down Deputy Director Van Cleef, who liked ruining women’s careers, and with Pride’s help, they talked him into resigning. The team was also able to clear Khoury’s name from the last time Van Cleef had her punished. He showed up at Khoury’s house later, trying to intimidate her, but it didn’t work.

Now that the shows are back, post-COVID, it’ll be interesting to see how they handle it. I know that on LA, they’re going to be in a post-Pandemic time, but on New Orleans, it’s very much entrenched in the coronavirus. I’m going to enjoy the difference, I think, but I guess we’ll see.

On tonight’s NCIS: LA, “The Bear,” when a Russian bomber goes missing while flying over U.S. soil, Callen and Sam must track it down in the desert and secure its weapons and intel before the Russians on board destroy the plane. Also, Hetty gives Nell a cryptic assignment.

Then on NCIS: New Orleans, “Something in the Air, Pt 1,” as New Orleans grapples with the effects of COVID-19, Pride sends Tammy and Carter to investigate a suspicious death aboard a humanitarian ship offshore, where they learn that some crew members are infected with the deadly disease. Also, Wade is overwhelmed by the high volume in the morgue due to COVID-19.

Don’t miss the exciting premieres tonight on CBS at 8:30/7:30c & 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Holiday Wars, Supermarket Sweep, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Card Sharks, & the Kids Baking Championship special.

Tonight, Superstore returns to kick off its sixth season on NBC. Star America Ferrera was supposed to exit the show at the end of last season, but due to the sudden production shutdowns last spring, Amy didn’t get her proper sendoff. When we last left off, Amy was planning to take a position with Zephra corporate, as Director of Customer Experience for Cloud 9. However, this would mean that she would have to relocate to California. She was nervous about telling Jonah, but it turned out that he was on board to move as well. Just like how the TV season was interrupted, so were Amy’s plans. As the new season opens, COVID has hit, and Amy’s transfer has been delayed — just two episodes for the viewers but several months in Cloud 9 time.

While several new/returning shows (including comedies) have taken a more heavy-handed, somewhat political approach to incorporating the events of the past several months into their storylines, I appreciate that Superstore has managed to keep things much lighter, comedically paying tribute to those essential workers who keep our grocery stores going and have to deal with the unruly customers who try to hoard during product shortages or refuse to wear masks. I thought the writers did an excellent job of incorporating the pandemic into the series in a way that felt natural and organic. I’m curious to see if they continue to incorporate the workplace changes throughout the season or if tonight’s premiere is just a one-off. Next week we finally get part 2 of what was supposed to be last season’s finale, and it will be interesting to see how Amy leaves and if Jonah does join her—right now their relationship appears to be trouble-free, however, there has been no mention that Ben Feldman would also be leaving the series. I’m just going to enjoy these final two episodes with Amy and look forward to seeing how the series fills the void left by America Ferrera’s departure.

On tonight’s sixth season premiere, “Essential,” during the coronavirus pandemic, Amy and Jonah try to bring order to the chaos in Cloud 9 while being pulled in multiple directions; the employees learn what it means to be “heroes,” while Amy and Jonah’s impending move to California looms large.

Check out the season opener tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’m so excited because tonight’s the premiere of both The Goldbergs and The Conners. (There’s also the premiere of black-ish to complete ABC’s premiere night, but I’m not watching it.)

To start off, we get a double episode of The Goldbergs, and they’re doing it in style, taking on the classic 1980s movie Airplane with an episode titled…well…”Airplane!” Beverly surprises the family with an end-of-summer vacation to Miami with the flight down resembling the classic film, and Geoff accidentally spills to Erica the real reason for the trip. Then in “The Prettiest Boy in School,” Adam, now a senior, returns to William Penn Academy as he wrestles with the fact that he is a cool kid and no longer a nerd while his original friend group isn’t as lucky. Meanwhile, Beverly attempts to have a more grown-up relationship with Erica and Barry before they head back to college.

It’s hard to imagine Adam as A) a senior and B) a cool kid. LOL So I can’t wait to see that!

Then on The Conners’ premiere episode, “Keep on Truckin’ Six Feet Apart,” the Conners are back and dealing with the pandemic, and life’s financial troubles loom over the family. Dan is still trying to catch up on back-mortgage payments and avoid a potential eviction, while the Lunch Box is closed for everything but takeout and delivery. Becky and Darlene are both forced to search for additional income at the newly reopened Wellman Plastics plant. Danny Trejo, Katey Segal, & Rene Rosado guest star.

Not all shows are going to include real-life problems like the pandemic into them, but we’ve seen how The Conners can do that, so this will be interesting! Especially given some of the things I’ve read about this season! 😉

Don’t miss ABC’s comedy premieres tonight starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Devils, The Amazing Race, Coroner, & Guy’s Grocery Games.

Welcome back to our Remote posts! It’s been a very long almost 5 months with only a handful of posts in that time! Darn Rona, anyway! For now, it’s going to be hit or miss, depending on when we feel like posting, and I’m starting it off with tonight’s series premiere of Supermarket Sweep.

When I first heard ABC was doing a reboot of this fun gameshow, I couldn’t have been more excited. I didn’t watch the original, even on reruns, but I did watch the show in the 90s and early 2000s, and I loved it. The show follows three teams of two, still in the iconic colorful sweatshirts, as they compete against one another using their grocery shopping skills and knowledge of merchandise. They’re competing for the chance to become the winning duo to play in the “Super Sweep,” a race against the clock to find five products in order to win $100,000. This time around, comedienne/actress Leslie Jones is host, and she should bring fantastic energy to the show, especially since I read she’s been a longtime fan too.

On tonight’s premiere, “Give Me the Roses, Richard!” Leslie is joined by teams from Canada/Washington, North Carolina, Missouri/Arkansas, Texas/Louisiana, California, and California/Philippines.

Find out who takes home the prize tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Worst Cooks in America, Card Sharks, & Halloween Freakshow Cakes.
