Ocean’s Twelve Movie Review

Introduction

Three years have passed after George Clooney and his crew committed an audacious Las Vegas heist, and the man they robbed from, Andy Garcia has managed to track all of them down. Actually, the movie is an update of what has happened in its 2001 predecessor, Ocean’s Eleven. The boss has only given them two weeks to repay everything they stole from the casinos plus interest. The director, Steven Soderbergh, has done an incredible job of bringing the notorious gang with common characters led by Clooney, Matt, Brad, and Don. You will notice that there are new additional faces who joined the gang, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Europol agent) and Vincent Cassel who believes that the reputation of the Ocean is exaggerated. As a sequel to the previous one, Ocean’s Twelve seems to have many common things with the original cast. However, you will notice that the bad guys portrayed in the first film are not very cruel this time.

Lost Batman Footage Reminds Us Why We Miss Adam West So Much

Those who were lucky enough to be around back in the 1960s will undoubtedly look back on the original live-action Batman series with great fondness. The overtly camp and upbeat nature of the show, coupled with the performance of Adam West, proved to be a huge hit with audiences and led to the airing of 120 episodes between 1966 and 1968.

Sadly, West passed away last June aged 88 after a short battle with leukaemia, and the ensuing outpouring of emotion illustrated the profound effect that the American actor had throughout the television industry and beyond. As well as playing the caped crusader, West was more recently known for voicing himself as the hilarious Mayor or Quahog on the hit cartoon Family Guy. Creator Seth McFarlane led the tributes to West after his passing, stating that, “Family Guy has lost a mayor, and I have lost a friend”, while fellow Batman actors such as Val Kilmer, Ben Affleck, and Kevin Conroy were also keen to highlight that not only was West a fine actor, he was also an exemplary human being.

Netflix has given new life to the world of television comedy, offering an alternative platform for stand-up shows, sitcoms and dramas, as well as the opportunity for worldwide exposure to comedians both fresh and experienced. Over the last few years, its comedy repertoire has built up to become a force to be reckoned with. Producing a show for Netflix is now somewhat synonymous with success, whether it be through a show reboot like Arrested Development or a stand-up special like Chris Rock’s Tambourine.

Named by Forbes as the highest paid comedian of 2017, Jerry Seinfeld may not be struggling for publicity, but his recent deal with Netflix has proven to be mutually beneficial for both parties involved. Seinfeld agreed to move his Emmy-nominated comedy show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee from its original home of Crackle over to streaming giant Netflix; Seinfeld will also be recording two exclusive stand-up specials for them. The move has garnered the comedian a whole new audience across the globe who have been binge-watching all 59 episodes of the show and begging for more.

Kids Need to See Diverse TV Characters

The hype around Black Panther has been as exaggerated as any feat one of its characters might have performed, with the film being universally praised for a layered plot and what has been described as an Afrofuturist cast. A Wrinkle in Time is sure to follow in its footsteps as a blockbuster sporting an interracial cast.

Other than the money and awards movies like these are going to amass, what they have made evident is that children want a universe that is diverse in terms of media images, and, for the longest time, they haven’t had one.

There Has Been Some Progress

In the same way that NZD online casino entertainment has become more and more available to an ever-wider array of different people, the time has come to make sure that the disparity between male and female characters and white and non-white characters is addressed.

Research has consistently shown that the animated worlds that children see on their televisions are not in sync with the real environments they find themselves in. A study undertaken over the past seven years at the Children’s Television Project, CTV, at Tufts University has been documenting images of different ethnicities, gender, and races in the most popular children’s series.

The good news is that things are more diverse than they used to be, with female characters making for just less than a third of all characters. While this may seem discouraging, it takes on a new light when you compare it to the 1:6 ratio that was previously found, in the 1970s, and the ratio of 1:4 that was found as recently as the 1990s.
