Saturday on TV – 9/7/19

Saturday is the series premiere of Pick, Flip & Drive on FYI at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. Jim Eli loves cars, and in his hometown of Great Falls, Montana, he and his family are always on the hunt for great cars that they can find, pick and restore to a pristine finish before flipping them for a profit. Jim’s family of auto experts help him find the right repairs, for the right price to restore these classic cars back to their original glory. In the Eli family business, profit is the name of the game but it’s helpful to have fun along the way.

Overnight last night, Netflix premiered the first season of The Spy at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. In the 1960s, Israeli clerk-turned-secret agent Eli Cohen goes deep undercover inside Syria on a perilous, years-long mission to spy for Mossad. The show stars Sacha Baron Cohen & Noah Emmerich.
 
Tonight is also the series premiere of Couples Therapy on Showtime at 10/9c. The show unlocks a hidden world: other people’s relationships. Far from reality-show caricatures, this is true documentary filmmaking that brings viewers into the authentic and visceral experience of weekly therapy with four couples. World-class therapist Dr. Orna Guralnik deftly guides the couples through the minefield of honest confrontation with each other and with themselves, revealing the real-life struggles — and extraordinary breakthroughs — typically hidden behind closed doors.
 
Tonight is also the series premiere of Good Talk with Anthony Jeslenik on Comedy Central at 11/10c. Each episode will feature an interview with one of Anthony’s friends – who happen to be some of the best comedians in the business – as they discuss all things comedy. Over the course of six episodes, Jeselnik will sit down with David Spade, Kristen Schaal, Kumail Nanjiani, Natasha Leggero, Nick Kroll, and Tig Notaro. In Good Talk, Jeselnik switches gears from his signature acerbic style for tongue-in-cheek interviews with his fellow comedians about their careers, influences and what it’s like to live in his massive shadow. Jeselnik and his guests center their extremely funny conversations around stand up, stories and bits and participate in elegantly bizarre studio segments.
