Tonight is the series premiere of Paranormal Declassified on Travel Channel at 10/9c. Investigative journalist Paul Beban knows what it takes to expose the world’s deepest and darkest secrets. Using declassified government files, a global network of inside sources and daring determination, he has uncovered pirate activity on the volatile coast of Somalia and earned recognition for his undercover operation exposing a violent human trafficking ring in South Africa. Beban stops at nothing to brings stories to light that have been hiding in the dark. Now, he’s taking his skills to investigate some of the world’s greatest paranormal mysteries. Tonight is the holiday movie Spotlight on Christmas on Lifetime at 8/7c. Dumped two weeks before Christmas, actress Olivia O’Hara (Tori Anderson) secretly returns to her tiny hometown to hide out, eat cookies and avoid the press. What she doesn’t expect is to be faced with the family she left behind, meeting a charming new guy Casey Rawlins (Victor Zinck Jr.), and a noisy reporter following her every move. Completely overwhelmed, Olivia contemplates running away from her life once again but with a new found confidence and freedom, Olivia bravely steps up to take the starring role in her own life, realizing that home is where the heart is and that she deserves to be loved for exactly who she really is. It also stars Andrew McIlroy, Janet Kidder, & Lia Franklin.
 
Tonight is also a 1-hour “Season’s Squeezings” special for Dr. Pimple Popper on TLC at 9/8c. With lumpy lipomas and cysts-a-plenty, Dr. Lee and her staff will have their hands full during one of their busiest days of the year.

The Mandalorian Season Finale Recap & Overall Series Thoughts

There are a variety of words I use to describe The Mandalorian. Awesome is not one of them. When I sum it up into a logline, it goes like this: “Dangerous bounty hunter betrays everything about his lifestyle except weird obsession with wearing a helmet to nurture a cute, telekinetic, 90-year-old baby.” From the jump, it has felt as if it were badly written but overproduced fanfic. Like someone (John Favreau) just watched the core nine episodes of the Skywalker Saga for the first time last year, called dibs on the most marketable moments/characters/settings – Yoda, Boba Fett, Tattoine – and mashed them all up with little concern for cannon, fandom, or integrity. It often feels like a child playing with action figures, but the child has 5 million dollars to spend on each trip out back to the sandbox.

Season two came to a close last week with another #predictable cameo, which this show prefers to substance or depth. But how did we get there? Well, Darth Vader Lite – ahem, I mean Moff Gideon… yes, Gideon kidnapped Grogu aka “Baby Yoda,” and Mando was dedicated to getting the child back. He had the help of recent New Republic recruit-ready-to-abandon-her-post-for-Mando Cara Dune of course. Let’s not forget overweight Boba Fett, who showed up last week with Tennac Shand [Mae from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.]. This whole crew of Mandalorians was ready to fight to restore Mando to his rightful position in life: a lactating doula taking care of Baby Yoda.

Today is a 1-hour special Feasting with the Stars on Food Network at 12PM/11AMc. Geoffrey Zakarian, his family and his celebrity friends are home for the holidays making the tastiest treats as they look to spice up their holiday menus and share their most-special Christmas traditions.
 
Tonight is also the holiday movie Christmas at Rosemont on UPtv at 7/6c. Stranded by a raging blizzard after a chance meeting, Brad and the very pregnant Lisa are forced to seek shelter together at the shuttered Rosemont Lodge with its reclusive owner, Josephine, five days before Christmas. Once a vibrant year-round resort, the Rosemont has been closed for nearly 20 years following a devastating family tragedy which may uncover a connection between Lisa and Josephine. It stars Ayla Kell, Brad Dourif, Brendan Michael Coughlin, Grace Zabriskie, & Lochlyn Munro.
 
Tonight is also a holiday movie Christmas Carousel on Hallmark at 8/7c. When Lila (Rachel Boston) is hired by the Royal Family of Marcadia to repair a carousel, she must work with the Prince (Neal Bledsoe) to complete it by Christmas.
 
Tonight is also a holiday movie A Christmas Exchange on Lifetime at 8/7c. The holiday season has started and Molly Cooper (Laura Vandervoort) is looking for joy. Finally living her childhood dream, Molly swaps her quaint farmhouse for London Financier Patrick Kingston’s (Rainbow Sun Francks) posh apartment. Through the ups and downs of her new life in London and searching for romance, Molly begins to look forward to all communication with Patrick. Likewise, Patrick finds Molly’s warm emails and texts charming and compelling. Sparks fly between them as they get to know each other as they live in each other’s spaces.
 
Tonight is also a 1-hour Global Citizen Prize special on NBC at 8/7c. The second annual event features special musical collaborations, will celebrate individuals taking action to end extreme poverty and present notable presenter and powerful video packages telling revealing stories of action and impact.
 
Tonight is also the holiday movie Letters to Satan Claus on Syfy at 9/8c. While the weather outside is frightful, so is Letters to Satan Claus, which tells the tale of Holly. After returning to her hometown of Ornaments as a big city news reporter, she faces the demon of her past following a simple typo in her letter to Santa, a harmless mistake that summoned Satan to kill her parents.
 
Finally, tonight is the holiday movie Swept Up by Christmas on HMM at 10/9c. An antique seller and a cleaner clash over how to downsize a magnificent estate right before Christmas. As the two uncover the house’s treasures, they find a way to reconnect the reclusive owner with his own Christmases past.
