Megan’s Choice

I had a wonderful holiday season, but I am also incredibly happy that some new television is starting again tonight! What is even more exciting about tonight is that we are finally getting the Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. crossover I have been wanting since the beginning. It has always bothered me that they haven’t had the teams meet before, seeing as we have supporting characters such as Noelani and Duke who have appeared on both shows. Hopefully after this crossover, it will be more like the #OneChicago series of shows, where the different departments cross paths during each other’s shows. That would make this girl ecstatic.

On tonight’s Hawaii Five-0, “Ihea ‘oe i ka wa a ka ua e loku ana? (Where Were You When the Rain was Pouring?),” when a list of undercover CIA agents is stolen, Steve and Five-0 enlist the help of Magnum, Higgins, Rick, and TC to get it back and protect national security. Also, Higgins gives Tani some personal advice.

Then on Magnum P.I., “Desperate Measures,” Junior is kidnapped as leverage to retrieve the stolen list of undercover CIA agents, and most of Five-0 is rounded up by the CIA to prevent them from interfering. Tani and Quinn ask Magnum and Higgins for their help.

Can my two favorite island crime fighting teams secure the list of CIA agents and save Junior before it’s too late? Find out for sure tonight on CBS starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Blue Bloods.

Sports Betting Exposure and Shows on Mainstream Television

With sports betting now legalized in the United States on a state-by-state basis, it is only a matter of time before it is legalized in all 50 states. Just look at the success of the New Jersey online gambling market and how much it has grown in only a little over a year.

With legalized sports betting being legitimate, it has also brought about more exposure in the mainstream media. The giant of Fox Sports now has its own sportsbook in FoxBet, and ESPN now has shows on its network that have to deal with sports betting.

On top of that, Yahoo recently announced a partnership with MGM to put betting lines on their search engine and then link up to the MGM sportsbook to allow users to make sportsbetting picks & wagers. It has been a snowball effect in the mainstream media in terms of sports betting exposure, and it will only increase as more states legalize sports betting.

Tonight is the series premiere of Deputy on FOX at 9/8c. From director/executive producer David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch, Suicide Squad), Deputy brings the spirit of a classic Western and a gritty authenticity to the modern cop drama. When the Los Angeles County’s Sheriff dies, an arcane rule forged back in the Wild West thrusts the most unlikely man into the job: a fifth-generation lawman (Stephen Dorff, True Detective), more comfortable taking down bad guys than navigating a sea of politics, who won’t rest until justice is served. Deputy also stars Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin, The Tick), Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town), Danielle Moné Truitt (Snowfall), Bex Taylor-Klaus (13 Reasons Why), Shane Paul McGhie (Unbelievable), and Mark Moses (Desperate Housewives).

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of My Feet Are Killing Me on TLC at 10/9c. Dr. Ebonie Vincent and Dr. Brad Schaeffer have never met a foot too funky to fix. The show follows these expert podiatrists and surgeons as they bring their warm bedside manners to the task of restoring their patients’ confidence and getting them back on their feet. Throughout the series, viewers will immerse themselves with both doctors — one West Coast and one East Coast — as they juggle all sorts of eye-popping cases, from wart clusters and funky fungus, to toe amputations and foot reconstructions.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/2/20

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

I’m so excited about tonight’s premiere on FOX, their newest drama, Deputy, which kinda feels like it should be on CBS… According to FOX: From director/executive producer David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch, Suicide Squad), Deputy brings the spirit of a classic Western and a gritty authenticity to the modern cop drama. Deputy also stars Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin, The Tick as Dr. Paula Reyes, LA County General Hospital’s chief trauma surgeon and Hollister’s wife; Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town) as Deputy Cade Ward; Bex Taylor-Klaus (13 Reasons Why) as Deputy Brianna Bishop; and Shane Paul McGhie (Unbelievable) as Deputy Joseph Harris; as well as Danielle Moné Truitt (Snowfall) & Mark Moses (Desperate Housewives).

There are some fun names attached, and the premise is wild & crazy but seems right up my alley, too. I’ve watched the first few minutes, and it starts off great, so I have my fingers crossed that’ll continue.

On tonight’s episode, “Graduation Day,” when Los Angeles’s newly elected Sheriff dies, Bill Hollister (Dorff) is suddenly propelled into the role leading one of the largest police forces in the world.

See how Hollister and the other deputies take Hollister’s sudden promotion tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Last Man Standing, Dr. Pimple Popper, The Great American Baking Show, & Beat Bobby Flay.

Wednesday features 5 series premieres & 6 season premieres. To read more about the new series, click the link below. Otherwise, check out tonight’s schedule!

Overnight last night was the series premiere of The Circle on Netflix. Be yourself — or someone else? In this lighthearted and strategic competition show, the players must choose, all while chasing a cash prize. Status and strategy collide in this social experiment and competition show where online players flirt, befriend, and catfish their way toward $100,000.

Also overnight last night was the complete first season premiere of Messiah on Netflix. When a man in the Middle East appears to be performing miracles, a rift breaks out over whether he’s the Messiah or a fraud in this suspenseful drama. The show stars Beau Bridges (Masters of Sex, Into the West, Stargate: SG-1), Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead), Jackson Hurst (Drop Dead Diva, Sharp Objects), Michelle Monaghan (Open, The Path, True Detective), Philip Baker Hall (Wildlife, The Loop), Barbara Eve Harris (Forever), Jane Adams (Hung), John Ortiz (Luck, The Anatomy of Hope), Mehdi Dehbi (Tyrant), Melinda Page Hamilton (Damnation, Dig, Nurses), Stefania Lavie Owen (Chance), & Wil Traval (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Red Widow), as well as Fares Landousil, Iqbal Theba, Nicole Rose Scimeca, Sayyid El Alami, & Tomer Sisley.

Finally, overnight last night was the complete first season premiere of Spinning Out, also on Netflix. After choking during an important performance, a competitive skater dealing with family issues and her own inner demons struggles to revive her career. The show stars January Jones (The Last Man on Earth, Mad Men), Sarah Wright Olsen (Marry Me, Mad Love), Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, Kaitlyn Leeb (Shadowhunters), Kaya Scodelario (The Pale Horse), & Will Kemp (Grace, NY-LON, Reign, Unveiled), as well as Willow Shields, Amanda Zhou, Charlie Hewson, Evan Roderick, Mitchell Edwards, & Svetlana Efremova.

Tonight is the series premiere of The Explosion Show on Science Channel at 10/9c. Subscribing to that old axiom that everything is better with explosions, whether it’s million-dollar movie stunts or state-of-the-art fireworks, a new Science Channel series will be ringing in the New Year with a BANG! Two notorious explosion experts — MythBuster and master of blowing things up, Tory Belleci, along with Nitro Circus daredevil and stuntman, “Streetbike” Tommy Passemante — host The Explosion Show. There are few who appreciate the sweet thrill of blowing stuff up as much as Tory and Tommy. Tory was one of the technical wizards behind some of the most memorable explosions on MythBusters. Streetbike Tommy is best known for his antics with Nitro Circus, the thrill seekers known for performing insanely dangerous stunts. Together, they’re on a mission to take audiences on an unpredictable ride, hanging with the experts, daredevils and professionals who are in the business of making things explode.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Alaska PD on A&E at 10/9c. The show brings viewers to America’s Last Frontier, where the line between civilization and lawlessness can be razor thin. Chronically shorthanded police departments across the state must turn to officers from the Lower 48 to fight a soaring crime rate. For the “newbies” it is a trial by fire as they learn first-hand that policing, like everything else, is different in Alaska. In a state where guns are carried as part of everyday life, officers often have to protect an entire town by themselves while enforcing laws many are unwilling to follow. They face numerous dangers found only in Alaska, not just from people who want to be free from the rules of society, but also from encounters with predatory animals roaming through town and sub-zero conditions that can be deadly and unrelenting. The series will follow Alaska’s law enforcement in Fairbanks, Kodiak, Kotzebue and Petersburg.
