If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/12/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Megan’s Choice

I have been missing The Big Bang Theory this television season, but that void is eased by being able to watch Young Sheldon for my weekly dose of sarcasm. Sheldon cracks me up every week with his strange behaviors, but I also love watching how his parents deal with his idiosyncrasies, as well as the general workings of this family. Meemaw is my favorite character aside from Sheldon because of her straight-shooting ways and the comical ways she responds to her unusual family. Last episode Dr. Sturgis found out that Meemaw had a new boyfriend, and I am interested to see what the eccentric fellow does to try to win his love back.

On tonight’s fall finale, “Teenager Soup and a Little Ball of Fib,” Sheldon fakes being sick to avoid a swim test at school. Also, Dr. Sturgis spies on Meemaw’s new boyfriend.

To see how the spying plays out, tune in to CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways, The Unicorn, Mom, Evil, and Perfect Harmony.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/11/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

Last week on SEAL Team, it was clear Jason was well on the mend after his surgery. Not only was he walking and running without a hitch in his stride, but he was also hitting on and then kissing Natalie. I kinda like them together, but I’m not yet sure if that’s good or bad for Jason. And while the team was overseas protecting aid convoys in an Ebola hot zone and then finding out later that they were really there to go after a new strain of the Ebola virus that had been stolen (they were NOT happy about that delay in their mission knowledge, btw…), Davis was stateside and getting into trouble. She met up with her sister, but she really seemed to have a chip on her shoulder, so the visit didn’t go very well. That sent her to a bar, where she sat and drank…and drank…and drank…by herself. And THAT caught the eye of a couple of jackasses who tried to hit on her and wouldn’t listen when she said no. They put their hands on her, so she was on high alert already, and when someone else came up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder, she reacted…well…frankly like I think she should have. She turned around and threw a punch, assuming it was another guy who was with the first two. Unfortunately for her, it was a police office, so she was arrested. Now, I doubt she’d go to jail for it after the circumstances came out about why she threw the punch, but because she’s now an officer in the military, the military may have something to say about that…and that leads us into tonight’s episode. When I first saw the pictures and episode title, I figured maybe her relationship with Sonny had come to light, but now I think it has to do with the tussle at the bar last week. Guess we’ll see!

On tonight’s episode, “Unbecoming an Officer,” Jason leads Bravo Team on his first mission back following surgery, and Ensign Davis faces disciplinary action. The episode was directed by series star and real-life veteran Tyler Grey (Trent).

See how it goes with Jason back in the field and why Davis is facing trouble tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Goldbergs, Schooled, Guy’s Grocery Games, Modern Family, Making It, Single Parents, The Great Food Truck Race, S.W.A.T., & Stumptown.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/10/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Phoebe’s Choice

Leading into CoIE’s debut last night, The Flash had a pretty eventful episode last week, with the conclusive defeat of Russo the Bloodzombie ½ Big Bad and the restoration of Barry Allen to his heroic self. Killer Frost and Kaitlin came closer to making peace as a single being, and they finally wrapped up the first half of the season just in time for that scene with Nash in the sewer unlocking the Monitor’s secret chamber. Supposedly Nash only survived the attack of the zombies by the grace of the Monitor, so he finally surrendered allegiance to this multidimensional God.

Then Supergirl’s installation in CoIE featured the assembly of the mulitverse’s heroes by Harbinger, the harbinger of The Monitor. (Think Herald of Galactus but it’s Diggle’s wife.) Oh, also the destruction of the planet Superman & Lois lived on & the destruction of Earth-38. I’m gonna abbreviate to E-1, E-2, etc moving forward. At the end of the opening chapter, Oliver Queen sacrificed himself to allow an extra billion denizens of E-38 to make it to the evacuation ships, which took people to E-1 as the antimatter wave obliterated their planet.

So last night on Batwoman, we opened with Sarah Lance, Kate Kane, & Kara Danver toasting to the memory of their recently martyred friend Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow. Mia Smoak, Oliver’s time-displaced daughter, refused to accept her father’s death, especially considering she knew a Lazurus Pit could be used to restore him to life. In the face of their recent defeat on E-38, The Monitor revealed to his heroes that there may be seven heroes known as The Paragons who could stop the Anti-Monitor from destroying all of time space. He identified several were already in their ranks, but one would be found in E-99’s future, where a “Bat” Paragon of Confidence will be found and another will be a Superman who had lost everything but persisted, a Paragon of Truth on some unknown Earth. How did Monitor figure this out? He re-acquired the Book of Destiny that was destroyed in last year’s crossover, being a time-altering God and all that.

Barry supported Mia in her push to resurrect Oliver in a Lazarus Pit, but they needed to find an Earth where they hadn’t all been destroyed. Enter John Constantine to remind us just how huge the Arrowverse is when you unpack all of it. He used his magical powers to divine that E-19 had a working Lazarus Pit. Kara & Kate together went to E-99 where they confronted a morbid Batman in an exoskeleton. This Bruce Wayne turned out to be a horrible person who turned to murder, certainly not the hero they sought. Meanwhile, to the horror of Kara who was considering using the Book of Destiny to try to restore E-38, The Monitor resurrected Lex Luthor. Lex immediately stole the book and went on a tear, murdering Supermen from different Earths. When he stopped in on the retired Smallville version of Superman, he showed pity to the defanged father of two version of his nemesis. Super weak nipple look, Lex, #justsaying.

Eventually, Lex’s rampage led Iris Allen & Lois Lane right to the actual Paragon of Truth, who was apparently Brandon Routh’s Superman from 2006’s critical meh-sterpiece Superman Returns. Lex then used the Book of Destiny to make this Superman battle E-38’s Superman. Titanic destructionnnnnnnnnn ensues. Then Lois boinked Luthor in the back of the head and uses the Book herself to coax back the loving nature in that ol gray-haired Superman. Over on E-19 Jonah Hex guarded the Lazarus Pit as I kept predicting to the screen as I watched. On E-99, Kate and Kara had to beat up old nasty Batman, cause dude’s a miser.

All was not lost in the final scenes though. Oliver was restored, but we are not sure where his soul is just yet. We have the Paragon of Truth, and turns out the E-99 thing was just a test to show us: Kate is the Paragon of Courage. So we only need a few more. One is almost certainly Black Lightning, if you followed what happened there tonight. [Whole Earth except Black Lightning was destroyed by the Antimatter Wave that is destroying EVERYTHING EVERYWHEN.] Another is likely to be Stargirl which is an upcoming CW launch, but we’ll have to wait and see.

On tonight’s final installment on The Flash’s episode, “Crisis on Infinite Earth, Pt 3,” Pariah enlists Black Lightning to help stop the Anti-Monitor after Flash-90 shares what he learned from his battle in “Elseworlds.” With the help of Black Lightning, Barry, Cisco, and Killer Frost come up with a plan that could save them all. Meanwhile, Iris has a heart-to-heart with Ryan Choi, while Oliver and Diggle return to an old familiar stomping ground.

Wrap up the “Crisis” tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Treadstone.
