Kyle’s Choice

intothebadlands1115smallTonight, AMC kicks off the new martial arts-meets-western series Into the Badlands. The series takes place in a dystopian future, in a land known as the Badlands, which has reverted back to a feudal system of government. The Badlands has been divided into 7 territories, each ruled by its own baron and his or her army of trained assassins, known as Clippers. Sunny (Daniel Wu, Chinese Zodiac) is the head Clipper/Regent for Baron Quinn (Marton Csokas, Sons of Liberty), the most powerful of all the barons. However, an ambitious new baron, the Widow (Emily Beecham, The Village), seeks to overthrow him and claim that title for herself. When Sunny comes across teenager M.K. (Aramis Knight), he discovers that the boy holds a dark energy within him that could be harnessed for good or evil, and he must keep him from falling into the hands of the Widow.

Rounding out the main characters are Quinn’s first wife Lydia (Orla Brady, American Odyssey); Quinn’s new fiancee Jade (Sarah Bolger, Once Upon a Time); Quinn’s only son/heir Ryder (Oliver Stark, Dracula); doctor Veil (Madeleine Mantock, Edge of Tomorrow), who’s in a secret relationship with Sunny; and Tilda (Alexia Ioannides, Parenthood), the Widow’s teenage assassin protege.

From the trailers, this looks like it is going to be a wild, action-packed series with some amazing fight sequences. It mixes the martial arts and western genres and adds a supernatural twist to the story. I am really looking forward to checking out tonight’s premiere!

On tonight’s episode, “The Fort,” the Badlands’ deadliest Clipper, Sunny, rescues a mysterious boy, M.K., who harbors a dark secret, but may also know the way out of the Badlands.

See if this interesting combination of genres is for you tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Quantico, Bob’s Burgers, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, The Librarians, Agent X, The Walking Dead, The Leftovers, Getting On, and Homeland.

Saturday on TV – 11/14/15

Saturday is the series premiere of Spotless on Esquire at 10/9c. Laced with dark humor, the 10-episode season follows two estranged brothers who are forced to reconnect after their lives were torn apart by a terrible childhood secret. Witnessing a double murder, they jeopardize their successful crime scene cleaning business by inadvertently becoming entangled in the deadly dynamics of organized crime. Marc-André Grondin (C.R.A.Z.Y.), Denis Ménochet (Ingloruious Basterds), Miranda Raison (24: Live Another Day), and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey) star. Set in contemporary London, Spotless is a story of a troubled young family man, Jean Bastiere (Grondin) whose life is turned upside down when his crook brother, Martin (Ménochet), crash lands into his world. On the surface Jean has everything including a gorgeous wife (Raison), two doting children, and a thriving crime scene cleaning business. However his morals are compromised when his estranged brother’s presence begins to unravel his seemingly stable life. Martin is the polar opposite of his brother Jean. Affected by the same childhood tragedy as his brother, Martin drifted into a life of crime, alcohol abuse, drugs, and loose women. Now, yearning for a better life, Martin is forced to confront dark sins of the past and real dangers of the present. The Bastiere brothers’ lives collide when Jean stumbles across what appears to be a murder that his brother is trying to cover up. Forced to put his crime scene cleaning skills to the test, Jean must now clean up Martin’s mess. As the series progresses, Jean’s skills unintentionally catch the attention of mob boss Nelson Clay (Coyle) who enlists the brothers, against their will, into his life of crime. Constantly forced down a dangerous and blood-soaked path, Jean must protect his family’s future… by jeopardizing his own. The thrilling drama is filled with relentless twists, provocative stories, and pervasive wit. Dirty deeds can never be cleaned.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/13/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Megan’s Choice

bluebloods1113smallWeek after week, the Regan family on Blue Bloods show us what real family bonds look like and they help keep New York safe at the same time. Last week, we saw as the DA put Erin on the case of the cops being arrested for tampering with records. Eddie got arrested for making a parking violation disappear. Erin didn’t want the case, and Frank definitely didn’t want her working it, but she needed to prove to the entire office that she doesn’t take sides, even for her father. In the end, Erin worked things out, and hopefully from now on, the police and the District Attorney’s office will work in unison. I don’t blame the family for being upset about Erin being on the case, but at the same time I understand that she didn’t have a choice. I’m glad it all looks like it’s going to work out for the best.

On tonight’s episode, “Unsung Heroes,” when Danny and his family are threatened by Thomas Wilder, a serial killer Danny has been unable to apprehend, Linda’s concern intensifies over her husband’s job as well as the state of their marriage. Also, Jamie challenges his superior officer, Sgt. William Mulvey, during a hostage situation.

To see if Linda and Danny can work this problem out, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching The Amazing Race, Hawaii Five-0, Grimm, and MasterChef: Junior.
