Tonight, after five seasons, A&E’s Bates Motel will shutter its doors. Last week Norman was being held for interrogation while the police searched the motel and grounds for evidence of the murder of Sam Loomis, to which Norman had confessed. Their search turned up Chick’s dead body in the basement (the one murder Norman actually isn’t responsible for) and Audrey Ellis’s suitcase buried in the front yard. Meanwhile, Dylan revealed to Emma that the police had found her mother’s dead body in the lake, so they headed to White Pine Bay to take care of things. The morning after Norman’s hearing, Emma went to see Norman at his cell but instantly recognized that Norma was currently running the show inside Norman’s body. Shortly after she left, Norman had another visitor, Romero, who forced his way to the cell at gunpoint and then proceeded to choke Norman. But he suddenly released him, demanding to see Norma’s body.

I was a bit weary going into this final season. With Norma dead, how were they going to keep the story going and keep things interesting? Boy was I proven wrong. This final season has probably been the best, most dramatic and exciting season of the series. I can’t wait to see how this all ends tonight. Will Romero be Norman’s next victim? How will he escape all these pending murder charges, and will Dylan and Emma also fall victim to this…psycho?

On tonight’s series finale, “The Cord,” Norman Bates comes home.

See how the series ends tonight on A&E at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Gotham, APB, Supergirl, Jane the Virgin, Better Call Saul, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, and Angie Tribeca.

Tonight, Bates Motel returns for the start of its fifth and final season on A&E. As the fourth season came to a close, Norman had gone full-on Psycho, blocking up the furnace vents in order to try to kill himself and his mother via carbon monoxide. Romero happened to stop by the house shortly afterwards and tried to save them, but it was too late for Norma. Norman had left a suicide note from Norma, but Romero figured out what must have really happened. He had a gun ready and was planning to kill Norman but was arrested for perjury, which delayed those plans. After the funeral, Norman dug up his mother’s body and brought it back home, but he still seemed confused and hadn’t really accepted that Norma is actually dead.

As we head into the final 10 episodes of the series, I’m curious to see what stories the writers have left to tell. We’re almost to the point in Norman’s journey that took place in the original Psycho film. Are we building to that moment? Will they re-create the events of the film in the series? Will Dylan learn about his mother’s death, and if so, how will he react and will he return home? Will Romero get his revenge on Norman, or will he ultimately become one of his latest victims? I’m looking forward to seeing how this creepy final chapter plays out.

On tonight’s premiere, “Dark Paradise,” a troubling discovery surfaces and Dylan and Emma get a surprise guest.

Check out the beginning of the end tonight on A&E at 10/9c.

And in case you need a refresher going into the final season, A&E will be airing a 30-minute “Quickie Catchup” before tonight’s premiere, at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Quantico, Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts, Timeless, APB, Jane the Virgin, Humans, and Beyond.

"MAJOR CRIMES" "Hindsight Part 5" / Ep 423 TNT Ph: Doug HyunOver the last four episodes, Major Crimes has been dealing with one major case – the murder of a mother and her young son. They quickly tied those murders in to the murders of three people (including a cop and an ADA) ten years before, because the bullets had been fired from the same gun. The main suspect for those murders was a man who was now a pastor and community leader, supposedly out of the gang and drug life. Last week, they figured out that the murdered mother was actually the third person in car when the people were murdered ten years before. But they also figured out that the reverend’s younger brother (also involved in the church) was the one to make sure the getaway car and gun were taken care of after the original crimes. And he was the one who was currently moving drugs through the church, not his older brother. When the police confronted the older brother with that information, including figuring out that the brothers’ lawyer was involved. The reverend isn’t taking their word for it about his brother, though. At the end of the last episode, he was off to confront his brother, which is where it left off for this week’s season finale.

On tonight’s episode, “Hindsight – Part 5,” all the threads of seven murders are tied together, with the field of suspects narrowed to three. And Mark Hickman finally confronts the truth about his past as Capt. Raydor makes good use of a highly unreliable witness. Provenza and Patrice solve their wedding issues. [Note from Jenny: From the picture, sure looks like they’re having a wedding. 😉 ]

See how the case plays out tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cake Wars, Scorpion, Lucifer, NCIS: LA, & Blindspot.

ncisla413smallMy top pick tonight is NCIS: LA. On the last new ep, the team investigated when a missile test was hijacked. Hetty brought in a young college student/genius tech girl — who already had a job at one of the government agencies waiting for her when she graduated — because she was even better at hacking and what not than both Nell and Eric. Nell got extremely jealous when it Eric seemed to be infatuated with the girl. It was cut, in the end, when he realized he didn’t fit in with the younger crowd as well as he thought he did. He came slinking back into OSP and met up with Nell, and they had an adorably fun moment flying a drone that Nell had just upgraded.

I love that we got the glimpse of Nell and Eric’s non-relationship relationship — they’re too cute together — but I’m eager to hear more about Deeks and LAPD’s IA investigation into him. There are only a handful of new episodes left in the season, so if we’re going to get some sort of conclusion before next season, I think that story line needs to be kicked into high gear. Unfortunately, this ep once again focuses on Callen (which isn’t a BAD thing…), but it’s especially irritating because Kensi has to go undercover as his girlfriend. *laugh*

On tonight’s episode, “Rage,” Callen and Sam resume their undercover identities as a prisoner and guard to infiltrate a white supremacist group believed to be in possession of stolen nuclear material, while Kensi transforms herself into a tattooed biker to play the part of Callen’s girlfriend. Also, Callen’s first meeting with Hetty is revealed.

To see how Callen met Hetty, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

mikemolly316smallOn Mike & Molly, Molly is now a published author! Her dirrrrrty book came to reality finally last week, but she realized then that her job wasn’t over. Sometimes writing the book is the easy part. Promoting the book is the hard part, as we saw when she spoke to radio station after radio station, even when sick and having to try to translate into Spanish. But in the process, she and Peggy, Mike’s mom, grew a little closer and entered into some weird new partnership, where Molly’s going to write the story of how Peggy went from a carefree, sexually open wild child to the sourpuss she is today. We’re sure to get some great stuff from that story line!

On tonight’s episode, “What Ever Happened to Baby Peggy,” Peggy makes Molly do chores in exchange for sharing tantalizing stories from her past for Molly’s second book.

Hear these “tantalizing stories” tonight on CBS at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Fortunes & Castle.
