The running gag in Black Monday, other than the cocaine-laden MTV late-80s homophobia, has been the idea of the hilarious “Georgina Play” that Mo is trying to pull off. The series started with Blair proposing to Tiff Georgina at the same time that Mo acquired and then hid 49% of the stock in her family’s company. Then Mo recruited Blair to his brokerage firm, the Jammer Group, to try to wrestle away control of the company.

Last week we saw Blair convince Tiff to buy into the backstabbing maneuver after her parents had her kidnapped for publicity value. He’d essentially cut Mo out of the play and was willing to walk away if he couldn’t get a decent percent of the Jammer Group for his complicity in the scam. He was content to split it with Tiff, who mistakenly thought he was gay. (Nope. He’s in love with Mo’s ex, Dawn.)

Keith trying to keep the SEC off everyone’s coke-sniffing nuts was funny, but we still have a major lingering thread. Who is the person who dies at the start of the series wearing the earring/tie-pin that we saw on the corpse in the opener? This show is fantastic. Tell me season two is a go. Either way, tune the eff in tonight!

On tonight’s season finale, “0,” everything comes crashing down.

Don’t miss the finale tonight on Showtime at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Supergirl. & American Gods.

Tonight, The Walking Dead returns to AMC. In the first half of the season, we said goodbye to Rick Grimes. While our main group believes that he is dead, we know that he was taken away in a helicopter and that his story will continue in some future TV movies. There was a time jump, and folks tried to move on, but Michonne still struggles with the loss of Rick. She was at odds with daughter Judith, who welcomed some new arrivals to Hilltop. Meanwhile, Negan has spent the past several years locked in a cell in Alexandria (why didn’t they just kill him?!), and Carol is married, living in the Kingdom, and helping to raise Henry as her son.

As the first half of the season came to a close, Daryl, Jesus, and Aaron were on a rescue mission to save Eugene and Rosita, who had been injured and were being pursued by an unusually intelligent herd of walkers. This herd was a lot more organized than usual, double-backing and following them at every turn – and Eugene swears that he heard them talking. The herd ended up cornering them into a cemetery and attacked. As Aaron was about to kill one of the walkers, it quickly dodged his weapon and then stabbed and killed him with a knife, whispering “You are where you do not belong” – certainly not your typical walker behavior! The others managed to kill this “walker” and then discovered that it was a normal human wearing a mask made out of walker flesh. Meanwhile, back in Alexandria, Negan discovered that Gabriel forgot to lock his cell and decided to make his escape.

Who are these new “Whisperers” with the ability to control the walkers, and what do they want? Do they plan to attack Alexandria, Hilltop, and/or The Kingdom? What does Negan plan to do with his newfound freedom? Will he go back to his old ways and rally his troops to get his revenge? Or will he just quietly go away? (I really hope it’s the latter!) I did not enjoy the last two seasons with all the Negan stuff, but the first half of this season was a surprising return to the great show I once loved – I didn’t even miss Rick, and I’m actually really looking forward to tonight’s midseason premiere! While I do wish the show would think about winding things down and plan an ending, it’s already been picked up for a tenth season, and Norman Reedus (Daryl) has signed on for 3 mores seasons (I guess they are trying to lock down at least one of the original characters for the long haul), so there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight.

On tonight’s midseason premiere, “Adaptation,” the communities thought they could build a better future separately, but the recent loss of one of their own drives them to band together; new leaders rise when a disturbing and dangerous threat is unmasked; an escaped captive revisits his past.

Catch up with the survivors tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Worst Cooks in America, Counterpart, Black Monday, and SMILF.

Tonight, Showtime launches the new comedy Black Monday. On October 19, 1987, also known as Black Monday, Wall Street experienced the worst stock market crash in history. Who or what caused the crash still remains a mystery to this day. Showtime’s outrageous, over-the-top comedy opens one year before that tragic day, when there seemed to be no end to money, drugs, and opulence of the 1980s. Mo Monroe (Don Cheadle, House of Lies) is living the high life (literally), riding around in his Lamborghini limousine with an endless supply of cocaine. He is the founder of a small Wall Street trading firm known as the Jammer Group. He likes to party and take risks and hires the underdogs who don’t have the pedigree or connections to join the bigger blue blood firms. Dawn (Regina Hall, Insecure) is Mo’s head trader and partner in crime. She’s a tough, intelligent woman who has managed to rise to the top of what is largely a boy’s club. The Jammer Group is filled with misfits, like Keith (Paul Scheer, The League, Fresh Off the Boat), whose life is a mess, and the lines between parting and work are often blurred.

Blair Pfaff (Andrew Rannells, Girls, The New Normal) is a mild-mannered, wide-eyed new Wharton business school graduate with a rich, demanding girlfriend, Tiff (Casey Wilson, Happy Endings). He has invented an amazing algorithm that can figure out what stocks to buy and sell, and so Blair seems to have his pick of the top firms to join…until he crosses paths with Mo, who burns all of Blair’s bridges, leaving him only one choice, the Jammer Group. The cast also includes a host of other recognizable comedic actors, such as Ken Marino (Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, in dual roles as the twin Lehman brothers), Eugene Cordero (The Good Place, Wrecked), Kadeem Hardison (Love Is_), Yassir Lester (Making History, Champions), and Kurt Braunohler (Lady Dynamite). This show definitely won’t be for everyone, but it looks like it could be a wild, fun trip back to the 80s, when greed was good, and everything was in excess. I’ll definitely be checking out more episodes.

On tonight’s premiere, “365,” wide-eyed Blair is thrust into the insane world of 80s Wall Street; Mo enacts his master plan to take over the Georgina Jeans Company.

Head back in time tonight on Showtime at 10/9c.

You can also check out tonight’s premiere early via YouTube, Showtime’s website, or On Demand.

I’ll also be watching/recording Supergirl, Worst Cooks in America, Crashing, Counterpart, and SMILF.
