brooklyn99126smallOn the last new episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Terry had to go visit a prisoner in Rikers, but when Sharon, his very pregnant wife, had plans to meet him at the precinct so they could go on a last-minute-before-the-baby-comes weekend vacation, he left Jake in charge of keeping her safe and comfortable while she waited for him. Unfortunately Sharon admitted that Captain Holt made her uncomfortable – (because he was always awkward around her… Hilariously so!) – so Jake had his work cut out for him. Also unfortunately, Sharon went into labor, and Jake and Holt had to track down Holt’s ex to deliver her baby because Sharon didn’t want to go to the hospital after a bad experience during her first delivery. In the end, there were complications and he suggested she go anyway, and she did. It’s a good thing, as the baby girl was FOURTEEN pounds. Eek! And because he’d been so good with Sharon and he was friends with Terry, Jake got to be the first to meet the new baby.

On tonight’s episode, “The Swedes,” in an attempt to solve an international case, Jake and Rosa are forced to work with a pair of Swedish cops and things get very competitive, very quickly. Meanwhile, Amy and Terry offer to help Gina prepare for a big test and Holt enlists Charles to sub in as his squash partner for an annual tournament.

To see if Jake and Rosa can get along with the Swedes, tune in to FOX at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, The Librarians, Agent X, Holiday Baking Championship, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

thelionguardsmallTonight, the Disney Channel is airing an all-new animated special set in the world of The Lion King. The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar is the one-hour preview for a new animated series coming to Disney in January. Simba (Rob Lowe The Grinder) and Nala’s (Gabrielle Union, Being Mary Jane) cub Kion (Max Charles, The Strain) is growing up and wants to prove that he’s ready to follow in his father’s footsteps. The Lion Guard has been protecting the Pride Lands for ages and has always been comprised solely of lions. However, now that he is the leader of the group, Kion wants to assemble a more diverse group of animal friends, each with his or her own talents, to protect their home land from hyena Janja (Andrew Kishino) and his sidekicks, Cheezi (Vargus Mason) and Chungu (Kevin Schon).

The new Lion Guard consists of cheetah Fuli (Diamond White, Haunted Hathaways) who brings her speed, hippopotamus Beshte (Dusan Brown, About a Boy) who brings his strength, cattle egret Ono (Atticus Shaffer, The Middle) who brings his excellent sight, and honey badger Bunga (Joshua Rush) who brings his bravery. Some other familiar faces will also return – Kion’s sister Kiara (Eden Riegel, Youthful Daze), wisecracking meercat Timon (Kevin Schon) & warthog Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella), baboon Rafiki (Khary Payton, Teen Titans Go!), red-billed hornbill Zazu (Jeff Bennett), and the ghost of Mufasa (James Earl Jones). The cast of characters also includes Kiara’s lioness cub friends Tiifu (Sarah Hyland, Modern Family) and Zuri (Madison Pettis, The Fosters), and Janja’s minion vulture Mzingo (Jonny Rees, Hawaii Five-0).

While I never watched Disney’s previous Timon and Pumbaa animated spin-off series, I am really looking forward to checking out this new spin-off. I was a big fan of the original Lion King movie, and watching the trailer for tonight’s special, I was quickly reminded of why. It looks like this new show recaptures the humor, drama, and action that made that film franchise so great.

See if this new show will take you back to your childhood tonight on Disney Channel at 7/6c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, The Librarians, The Walking Dead, Into the Badlands, and Getting On.

intothebadlands1115smallTonight, AMC kicks off the new martial arts-meets-western series Into the Badlands. The series takes place in a dystopian future, in a land known as the Badlands, which has reverted back to a feudal system of government. The Badlands has been divided into 7 territories, each ruled by its own baron and his or her army of trained assassins, known as Clippers. Sunny (Daniel Wu, Chinese Zodiac) is the head Clipper/Regent for Baron Quinn (Marton Csokas, Sons of Liberty), the most powerful of all the barons. However, an ambitious new baron, the Widow (Emily Beecham, The Village), seeks to overthrow him and claim that title for herself. When Sunny comes across teenager M.K. (Aramis Knight), he discovers that the boy holds a dark energy within him that could be harnessed for good or evil, and he must keep him from falling into the hands of the Widow.

Rounding out the main characters are Quinn’s first wife Lydia (Orla Brady, American Odyssey); Quinn’s new fiancee Jade (Sarah Bolger, Once Upon a Time); Quinn’s only son/heir Ryder (Oliver Stark, Dracula); doctor Veil (Madeleine Mantock, Edge of Tomorrow), who’s in a secret relationship with Sunny; and Tilda (Alexia Ioannides, Parenthood), the Widow’s teenage assassin protege.

From the trailers, this looks like it is going to be a wild, action-packed series with some amazing fight sequences. It mixes the martial arts and western genres and adds a supernatural twist to the story. I am really looking forward to checking out tonight’s premiere!

On tonight’s episode, “The Fort,” the Badlands’ deadliest Clipper, Sunny, rescues a mysterious boy, M.K., who harbors a dark secret, but may also know the way out of the Badlands.

See if this interesting combination of genres is for you tonight on AMC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Quantico, Bob’s Burgers, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, The Librarians, Agent X, The Walking Dead, The Leftovers, Getting On, and Homeland.

agentxsmallI’m always up for trying a new action drama, and for me, TNT can really deliver. So when I read about their latest, Agent X, I couldn’t wait to see it. Jeff Hephner (Interstellar, Chicago Fire) stars as John Case, or Agent X, a top-secret agent who is deployed only by the Vice President. No one besides the VP (played by Sharon Stone) and her chief steward, Malcolm Millar (Gerald McRaney), and Chief Justice Caleb Thorne (James Earl Jones) even know about Agent X. When there’s a major crisis and traditional law enforcement and government can’t help, Agent X is deployed to help protect the country by any means necessary. I liked Hephner in Chicago Fire and I LOVE Gerald McRaney, so I’m hoping this will be a good one. There are two episodes tonight, so we’ll get a good chance to see how we like the show.

On tonight’s first episode, “Pilot,” after her inauguration, newly elected Vice President Natalie Maccabee is initiated into a covert world of danger by her chief steward, Malcolm Millar and Chief Justice Caleb Thorne. Natalie quickly finds herself in play when the daughter of FBI Director Stanton is kidnapped, and authorities are helpless in rescuing her.

Then on the second episode, “The Enemy of My Enemy,” one of John’s old nemeses, terrorist Malik Ahmad, steals an arsenal of nuclear warheads and a scientist to activate them. John is forced to work with his enemy, Olga Petrovka, in order to destroy them and rescue the scientist. Meanwhile, Natalie and Malcolm endeavor to protect John’s identity from an FBI investigation.

Check out the exciting drama tonight on TNT at 9/8c & 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great British Baking Show, Guy’s Grocery Games, The Librarians, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Holiday Baking Championship, Cutthroat Kitchen, & CSI: Cyber.

brooklyn991025smallCaptain Holt is back on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I mean, he was never GONE, but he’s back in charge at the 99. Throughout the episode, the Volture made a rule that the 99 only solved misdemeanors so their solve rate was as high as possible. So when Jake—who kept trying to break the Volture’s rule—came across a new case that he thought was the work of a previous killer, the Oolong Slayer, he connected with Captain Holt and together, they found the killer. Jake told the powers that be that Holt had solved it, and Holt got his job back at the 99. Woohoo!

The other funny story was Terry getting addicted to Boyle’s cacao nibs. Every time he’d solve a case, he’d eat one, but it quickly spiraled out of control and he ballooned up in weight. It was quite amusing to see his addiction. I especially loved his speech about giving up the habit, only to see a bunch of the nibs falling out of his bag. LOL

On tonight’s episode, “Halloween III,” the third installment of Captain Holt and Jake’s Halloween heist culminates with a tie-breaking competition to claim the title of “amazing detective slash genius.” This year, Jake and Holt split the squad into two teams to help them win.

See who wins tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great British Baking Show, Guy’s Grocery Games, Halloween Wars, CSI: Cyber, & Cutthroat Kitchen.
