We get two episodes of Hawaii Five-0 tonight – the second directed by series star Alex O’Loughlin. Fun! But first…let’s talk about last week’s episode, which was exciting because it coupled a hurricane with a drug lord being hunted by an assassin. Steve was especially unhappy hearing that the drug lord was going to be brought to Iolani Palace to wait out the storm, not only because of all the civilians who were taking shelter there but because he knew a family that had been killed by one of the bad guy’s bombs. He felt a little better later on after learning the guy was turning State’s evidence about rival cartels. Unfortunately, they almost lost him when they figured out an assassin from one of those rival cartels had snuck in to hunt him down and take him out – with the assistance of one of the FBI team escorting the bad guy. And that assassin stabbed a young deputy. We never did learn if that poor guy lived or died. As for the assassin and the drug lord, the assassin was killed and the drug lord tried to escape, nearly getting killed by the wrong FBI agent, but the team saved him and then took him back into custody.

As for the rest of the team… Tani & Junior were sent out into the early bits of the storm to help rescue any stranded civilians or anyone who was refusing to evacuate the required evac zones. Unfortunately for Tani, she stumbled into a stash house and got tied up, only to talk the guy’s kid into untying her. Then she learned what the place was, right before the even worse bad guys showed up to get to the money (and drugs?) kept there at the house, and she had the family (the ones who had originally tied her up) hide in the closet while she took on the three guys alone. She was just about to have to fight it out with the last one after running out of ammunition, but Junior showed up just in time and shot the guy. And then there was Danny…who stayed safe at his house with Rachel and Charlie (Grace was on a college tour or something in California.). Why Danny was able to stay home when they were so busy at the Palace, I don’t know. But whatever. There were a lot of sparks between Rachel and Danny, so we’ll see if they’re leading them to get back together this season or not.

On tonight’s first episode, “Hapai ke kuko, hanau ka hewa (When Covetousness is Conceived, Sin is Born),” when the top salesperson for a beauty company/pyramid scheme is murdered, Five-0 sifts through a long list of possible suspects who would want her dead. Also, Adam befriends a homeless man estranged from his family. Matthew Lawrence guest stars.

Then on the second episode, “E’ao lu’au a kualima (Offer Young Taro Leaves To),” Junior is torn between his duties as a member of Five-0 and his feelings for his former girlfriend when her new love, the father of her son, is one of the culprits in a bank-heist-turned-homicide. J.J. Soria guest stars.

Don’t miss a fun two hours in Hawaii tonight on CBS starting at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Last Man Standing, MacGyver, The Cool Kids, & Proven Innocent.

Tonight, Pop TV kicks off the new 6-episode dramedy Flack. The series follows Robyn (Anna Paquin, True Blood), an American living in London, working at a PR firm that specializes in crisis management for wealthy celebrities. When a high-profile client is caught doing something bad by the media, it is her job to help these indiscretions go away quickly and quietly. While Robyn makes a living helping other people fix their lives, her own life is a bit of a mess, thanks to her self-sabotaging ways. Her sister, Ruth (Genevieve Angelson, Good Girls Revolt), has a much more quiet and normal life, with a husband and 2 kids, but she often lives vicariously through her sister’s wild adventures.

The PR firm is run by the sharp-witted, though a little off-beat, Caroline (Sophie Okonedo, Hotel Rwanda), who spends most of the premiere trying to pass as a lesbian. Robyn’s co-worker/best friend is Eve (Lydia Wilson, Black Mirror), a wild, foul-mouthed single gal who’s a bit of a diva and fashion snob. And new to the firm is intern Melody (Rebecca Benson, Game of Thrones), who is eager and excited to help but a little naive. The series also stars Arinzé Kene (Crazyhead), Marc Warren (The Good Wife), and Rufus Jones (Episodes).

I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere, which immediately throws the viewer right into the craziness of Robyn’s work and then does a nice job of exploring the characters and establishing their roles and story lines. The series is fun and fast-paced and finds a nice blend of humor, character development, and ongoing drama mixed with the client-of-the-week story line. This show doesn’t feel like a typical Pop TV series – it is higher caliber and feels more like premium cable with a slightly British slant. I like that it is only 6 episodes, so it isn’t a huge time commitment. I definitely plan to keep watching.

On tonight’s premiere, “Episode 1,” Robyn must kill off the latest of many one-night-stand stories circulating in the tabloids about every “housewife’s favorite” celebrity chef, Anthony Henderson (Max Beesley), before the public is exposed to his womanizer tendencies.

Meet Robin and the rest of the gang at work tonight on Pop TV at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Fam, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Will & Grace, Gotham, The Orville, and The Other Two.

Last week’s Valentine’s Day-themed The Rookie was both funny and sad. First I have to touch on Tim’s visit to his wife at rehab. She looked really good, especially considering how she looked when we last saw her after she’d been shot in the head. She’s clean now, and Tim is happy about that, but he came to the realization that he can’t be with her without her remembering back to how she felt at her lowest point, and he’s afraid of that jeopardizing her recovery/sobriety. So he walked away. I would imagine that took a lot of courage and love, putting her health and good welfare above his own feelings. It was really sad.

Then there was the creepy guy (played by the always fantastic John Billingsley) who had dementia but was a serial killer. He attacked both West and the cutie nurse he was flirting with (and wow, who knew he was gay?), nearly getting away until Lopez tackled him in the stairwell. I thought it was going to go bad – worse than it did – but thank goodness everyone was okay. Making Lopez’s day worse, it looks like she and Wesley are done. When she asked him out for Vday after he was arrested for contempt of court, he said he’d already made plans. She sneaked into his things in the locker and checked his calendar, which said he had dinner plans with Melanie. Unfortunately for her, when she got snarky and brought it up with him, he told her Melanie was his stepmom and he’d planned to spend it with her since it was her first one without his dad. Oops. So now he’s angry that she snooped, and it looks like they’re done.

The both funniest and saddest parts of the episode had to do with Nolan and his “stalker,” whom he met on a call about a single-car accident. The woman had hit a power pole and ended up getting shocked by a downed power line. Nolan risked his life to get her and then performed CPR, bringing her back to life. The woman showed up at the station just after being released from the hospital, intending to give Nolan a big basket of muffins. He thanked her but made it clear he wasn’t interested in more. She then made a fake emergency call about an intruder to get him back to her house, and that’s when Nolan saw a photo and folded flag on her mantel. Her husband had died overseas just over a year before, and she was so lonely, she was doing anything to fill that void. She even showed up at Nolan’s house as Ben’s date for their “Anti-Valentine’s Day Party,” (at which it was first only Nolan, Ben, and Lucy). When Nolan went to tell her again that he wasn’t interested, he found her naked in his bed…and quickly realized she’d overdosed on pills. Thankfully they all worked to keep her awake and alert until EMTs got there. (And speaking of the party… After Lucy left to stay with the woman instead of Nolan accompanying her, Bishop was the only one to show up. It turned out she had a love interest who was married, and Lopez urged her to break up with him for good when she admitted he was still with his wife. She must have done that, because then she showed up at the party. And was it just me or were there sparks between her & Ben as they started talking about Nolan’s past?!

On tonight’s episode, “Caught Stealing,” the rookies become the prime suspects after it is discovered a large sum of money used in a drug bust has gone missing.

See if they determine who the real thief is tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Housewife, Ellen’s Game of Games, NCIS, The Kids Are Alright, Chopped, FBI, NCIS: New Orleans, & Miracle Workers.

It’s been a few weeks since the last new episode of NCIS: LA. In “Smokescreen Pt I,” the team was partnered with the FBI to stop what was believed to be a terrorist cell in Los Angeles. And they did indeed stop a van from blowing up near a military ship anchored at the harbor. (It’s been so long, I can’t remember. Might be a decommissioned ship used as a tourist museum of some sort?) Anyway, long story short, there’s still some terrorists out there, and they had a guy in a suicide vest at a movie theater, and it went kaboom with Sam and Callen inside. Fortunately, Sam and Callen are relatively unhurt. Unfortunately, they and all the other people are trapped inside the theater because the bad guys have explosives on all the outer doors. So Kensi and Deeks are outside dealing with the crowd and the few people who were hurt in the first blast, hoping they don’t suddenly get attacked by sniper fire, while Sam and Callen try to attend to the wounded, even though some people died when the bomb went off and some have since died of their injuries sustained in the explosion. It was a tense episode, and I have no doubt the tense excitement will extend into this week’s new episode as well.

On tonight’s episode, “Smokescreen Pt II,” as the team continues to search for a terrorist cell in Los Angeles, Callen and Sam remain trapped in a movie theater after multiple bombs have detonated and every remaining exit is wired with explosives.

See how Sam and Callen make it out of the theater and if they can all stop the terrorists before more lives are lost tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Private Eyes & Worst Cooks in America.

From 2002-2007, the Disney Channel animated action comedy-adventure series Kim Possible followed the adventures of teenage crime fighter Kim Possible, who balanced saving the world with dealing with the normal problems of a high school student. Helping her on her missions was clumsy best friend Ron Stoppable and his pet naked mole rat Rufus. Providing them with remote technical assistance was 10-year old computer genius Wade. While Team Possible came up against many different criminals, their biggest foe was super-villain Dr. Drakken and his sidekick Shego (who was often the more grounded and sensible of the pair).

Tonight, these characters return in a brand new live-action Disney Channel Original Movie, Kim Possible. In the film, Kim (Sadie Stanley) and Ron (Sean Giambrone, The Goldbergs) enter high school and become friends with Athena (Ciara Riley Wilson, OMG!). With Kim’s guidance, Athena transforms into the newest member of Team Possible and soon starts to eclipse Kim. When Drakken (Todd Stashwick, 12 Monkeys) and Shego (Taylor Ortega) resurface in Middleton, the team must stop them. The movie also stars Issac Ryan Brown (Raven’s Home) as Wade, Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) as Kim’s mother Dr. Ann Possible, Patton Oswalt (A.P. Bio) as Professor Dementor, and Christy Carlson Romano (the original voice of Kim) as Poppy Blu.

I was a huge fan of the original animated series and can’t wait to check out tonight’s film to see how these characters translate into the real world.

Go back to your childhood (or in Jenny’s case, her son’s childhood…she sighed sadly…) tonight on Disney Channel at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Doom Patrol, The Umbrella Academy, Fresh Off the Boat, Proven Innocent, and Strike Back.
