I love the dynamic on MacGyver, and given the widespread news that Jack is leaving after tonight’s episode, that’s about to change. Hopefully the rest of the team can help fill in the obvious void that is going to be left, but it is bound to take some adjustment. It is unfortunate that George Eads had personal issues behind the scenes that led to this change, but I have faith the rest of the cast will pull through regardless.

On tonight’s episode, “Father + Bride + Betrayal,” an international crime boss offers Matty a deal she can’t refuse: he’ll surrender himself into her custody if he’s allowed to return to the United States to watch his daughter walk down the aisle. MacGyver and team crash the wedding to ensure the crime lord doesn’t run, only to discover they’re not the only ones lying in wait at the event.

To watch this pivotal episode, tune in to CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Hawaii Five-0, Hell’s Kitchen, and Blue Bloods.

Last time on S.W.A.T., when a Mexican federal agent undercover with a drug-dealing gang went missing, Jessica Cortez and Chris went undercover down in Mexico to try to find him and rescue him. Cortez was undercover with them before and helped bring some of the old guard to justice, so she was their “in” with the gang again. The rest of the SWAT team stayed back in LA to try to track the missing agent there at home. It was rough for them because Jessica and Chris had to go in without any coms whatsoever. Jessica had to play up a relationship with the new head of the gang, and it all worked great…until it didn’t. They found out where the guy was being held just before their cover was blown, but it all worked out. The team found him safe (not unharmed, but better off than it could have been!) and Cortez and Chris got back home safely themselves. Meanwhile, Hondo visited his mom to help her around the house, and she talked with him about some of the rough time he’s going through. After his breakups with Cortez and then the attorney, Hondo is beginning to spiral emotionally, I guess, and that starts to affect his work on tonight’s episode, which should be interesting, especially since Deacon is having such bad money problems, given the issues with the house and the new baby on the way. So that should be fun to see…

On tonight’s episode, “Encore,” the SWAT team races to find a militant group that escaped their capture months earlier, when the criminals take hostages in exchange for a $500 million ransom from five corporations they deem corrupt. Also, Hondo’s emotional turmoil begins to affect his team leadership.

See if the team can find the bad guys tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, The Titan Games, Top Chef, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dr. Pimple Popper, Will & Grace, & Beat Bobby Flay.

Last week was the first time we’ve really seen Rossi vulnerable and almost completely defeated on Criminal Minds, and it was kind of heartbreaking to watch. When on a case, Rossi got surprised by the bad guy and was nearly killed. Thankfully, the guy let him live, even if it was for a “look where I had you; I could have killed you” reason. The shocker for me was that the girl at the end was his daughter. He was creepy, and I’ll be anxious to see how the team catches him as the Big Bad in the final season. I did love how involved Crystal, Rossi’s ex-wife/current fiancée was in the story. She was there for him and listened to him as he told the story, and it let us see how she handles his job.

On tonight’s episode, “Sick and Evil,” the BAU leads the investigation into a string of murders taking place in supposedly haunted houses in Lewiston, Maine.

See if they run into any ghosts tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Goldbergs, Schooled, Guy’s Grocery Games, Modern Family, Single Parents, & Match Game.

Tonight, FOX continues its annual tradition of bringing Broadway to broadcast, with a brand-new, live performance of the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent. The play is a re-imagining of the Puccini opera La Bohème, set in more modern times, following the lives of a group of struggling artists living in New York’s East Village during the peak of the HIV/AIDS crisis. The original Broadway production opened in 1996 and ran for 12 years, making it one of the longest-running Broadway shows. This is probably the most mature production that FOX has taken on so far, so it will be interesting to see how much they will need to change for network television – though they did manage to do Rocky Horror a couple years ago.

The special will be directed by Alex Rudzinski (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, Grease: Live, Dancing with the Stars), and the star-studded cast includes actress Kiersey Clemons (The Flash, Angie Tribeca), Emmy nominee and Tony Award winner Brandon Victor Dixon (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, Power), singer/songwriter Jordan Fisher (Dancing with the Stars, The Secret Life of the American Teenager), actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical, Powerless), newcomer and singer/songwriter Brennin Hunt, R&B/Pop superstar Mario (Empire), recording artist Tinashe, and performer Valentina (RuPaul’s Drag Race). Plus there will be a “Seasons of Love” solo by Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman).

I usually enjoy these live musical productions, and this one has some memorable songs in it, so I’m looking forward to checking out tonight’s live production.

Don’t miss the performance tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be recording Big Brother, Supergirl, Worst Cooks in America, Crashing, Counterpart, Black Monday, and SMILF.

Tonight, CBS’s Celebrity Big Brother returns for a second season, with 12 new celebrities entering the Big Brother house to compete in a compressed version of the hit reality competition. I really enjoyed the first celebrity season last year, as things move along at a much faster pace than the regular summer show, which is stretched over 3 months instead of just a few weeks.

Julie Chen Moonves will once again be hosting the series, and this year’s batch of house guests includes an actual professional house guest, Kato Kaelin, who’s still stretching out his 15 minutes of fame from the O.J. trial. Also entering the house tonight are actors Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls, Cake Wars), Joey Lawrence (Melissa & Joey, Blossom), & Tom Green (Road Trip); singers and/or reality TV stars Tamar Braxton (The Braxtons), Kandi Burruss (Xscape), and Dina Lohan (Living Lohan); and athletes Lolo Jones (Olympic track and bobsled), Ryan Lochte (swimming Gold medalist), Natalie Eva Marie (WWE wrestler), & Ricky Williams (former NFL superstar). Finally, there’s 10-day White House Director of Communications Anthony Scaramucci.

It looks like another odd mix of folks, though there are several cliques that could be formed or folks who already know one another going into the house. It will be interesting to see who teams up with whom and who ultimately wins the season.

Catch everyone moving in tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Good Doctor, Manifest, The Resident, The Passage, and Arrow.
