unforgettable2016smallI was so glad that A&E brought Unforgettable when I was sure it was going to be canceled after the last season ended. And this season has been great, even with the cast changes. I miss Eliot (Dallas Roberts) and Joanne (Jane Curtin) especially, but Alani “La La” Anthony as Delina the M.E., Kathy Najimy as Sandra the boss, and E.J. Bonilla as cutie Denny have been great additions. In the latest episode, the body of a young woman was found buried on the beach, and Carrie and Al found and arrested her killer and his accountant (or so they thought). Unfortunately, they were shot at and had to take cover from the bad guys and the coming hurricane in Precinct 51, which was closed for renovation with only an administrative assistant and a green cop (on the job literally four days) on the premises. The bad guys found them, but Denny and Jay drove through the storm to back them up, and they were able to take all the bad guys down, including the accountant…who turned out to be the actual big bad boss. I loved at the end when they met at the boardwalk and Carrie gave out shots to everyone, toasting to Al and to the others for coming to their assistance.

Tonight was supposed to be the two episodes leading up to next week’s final two of the season, but A&E decided to air four episodes tonight, which includes the season finale. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean that it’s the final episode of the SERIES, although since we haven’t heard any renewal news yet and they’re airing four episodes in one night, I have a feeling that news won’t be good. I really hope we get some resolution tonight on a few things. One, Carrie and Al. They’ve been hinting off and on all season that there’s something going on, although they’re either not exclusive or not serious or something, what with her (now ex) husband showing up a few times and their kiss. I WANT to see Carrie and Al kiss and become official, darn it! Also, I would love to get some resolution to Carrie’s sister’s murder. That story line has been a big part of her history since episode one.

On tonight’s first episode, “Game On,” when a young man turns up dead inside a popular haunted-house attraction, Carrie and Al are called in to investigate and soon find themselves in a world of high-stakes video games and hi-tech corporate espionage. Then on the second episode, “About Face,” when a hot lead turns up in a cold case of a missing surgeon, Carrie and Al find themselves on the trail of two con artists. But unmasking the truth may have explosive consequences.

On the third episode, “Bad Company,” when Captain Russo is suspected in the murder of an informant, Carrie and Al enter into a cat-and-mouse game with a crooked former cop. And finally, on the season finale, “Paranoid Android,” when a shooter on the loose triggers a flashback that doesn’t add up with Carrie’s perfect memory, the team at Major Crimes discovers that a nefarious conspiracy is at play and trained killers are among them.

Enjoy the mini-marathon and see how the season (possibly series?) ends tonight on A&E starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef: Junior, American Diner Revival, Hawaii Five-0, Hell’s Kitchen, Blue Bloods, & Burgers, Brew & ‘Que.

Interview with Rob Corddry from Childrens Hospital

robcorddrysmallThis Thursday at midnight, another season of the hilarious Adult Swim series Childrens Hospital comes to a close. Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to participate in a press conference call with series writer/creator (and Dr. Blake Downs himself), Rob Corddry. Right from the start of the call, it was easy to tell how gracious and appreciative Rob was of the show’s loyal fans. Rob talks about the series and previews what fans can expect in the season finale.

Kyle Nolan: Could you talk a little bit about the craziness we can expect in the season finale and the challenges or benefits that you found making a double-length episode?

Rob Corddry: Well, it was – yes, basically, the same challenges that would come with making any episode increased by 50 percent. It was a lot. We were really kind of under the gun, and we always are when we’re shooting. And this episode, in particular, we were writing right up until the minute it was shooting downstairs, and sometimes even during, because, you know, we got cocky after last season. We won an Emmy. It’s sort of like, oh, we got this. We can throw these three episodes away and just write some more as we go.
And so we were just writing a lot. And I was literally writing a scene for two days in the future. I was looking over notes that David was rewriting for a scene that was going to be done next while I was writing a scene that was actually shooting downstairs with Erinn Hayes that was a complete circus.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/25/13

I’m back from Comic-Con! I had a great time—the highlight of which was getting to meet the cast of Breaking Bad, and getting their autographs, at a special fan appreciation party this past Sunday. I’m still trying to catch up on my huge backlog of TV from last week, but primetime TV waits for no one. So we’ve got some suggestions as to what you should check out on TV tonight.

childrenshospital2012smallChildrens Hospital returns to the Adult Swim lineup tonight for the start of its fifth season. When we last left the staff, Dr. Blake Downs had been murdered. Is he really dead? And if so, who will replace him? Perhaps an evil twin or maybe a clone? Anything is possible on this series, and I can’t wait to see how they get out of this one—and what character Rob Corddry will be playing this season! I’m really looking forward to an all-new season of total wackiness from this series that manages to pack more laughs into 15 minutes than most sitcoms do in a half hour!

On tonight’s episode, “A New Hope,” the staff moves to an Army base in Japan when the hospital is infested with termites.

Catch the laughs tonight on Adult Swim (Comedy Central) at 11:59/10:59c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, Rookie Blue, Hollywood Game Night, Hell’s Kitchen, Wilfred, The Hero, Summer Camp, Burn Notice, Graceland, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/9/12

Have you ever been so tired that you seem to be moving through water? Like you keep making all these little mistakes. Nothing major or anything. Just…not firing on all cylinders? Yeah. That’s me on Wednesday night. Why, I dunno. I got 7 or so hours of sleep Tuesday night. Granted, it was broken up into several parts, but still. I dunno. I’m just kind of floating as I write this, so I hope it’s coherent! Now, if you can stay awake long enough to watch TV, see what we think you should be watching.

Last week’s episode with Sam and Jesse helping out Sam’s girlfriend was great. They got to the “kid’s” house, only to find that things were a lot more complicated than they’d thought, and they had to take down drug dealers hell bent on killing them. I love how well Sam and Jesse work together. 🙂 Michael and Fiona continued to reconnect as they figured out that Rebecca was their prime suspect for Nate’s murder. While trying to capture her, she escaped, and Michael shot her. She surrendered to him, but swore she had nothing to do with Nate’s or Anson’s deaths. It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here. Of course, Nate’s funeral scene was heartbreaking. I’m glad Maddie doesn’t seem to be holding it over Michael’s head—at least for now…

On tonight’s episode, “Unchained,” Michael allows himself to be arrested by the FBI in order to bring down a vicious Bostonian mobster. Meanwhile, Jesse and Pearce are forced to blackmail a weapons manufacturer to get information on an important gun sale… but things don’t go as smoothly as planned. Lauren Stamile, Brian White, Billy Smith, and RD Callstar guest star.

Don’t miss it tonight on USA Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Burn Notice @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing the 2012 Olympics, Rookie Blue, & Sullivan & Son.

Children’s Hospital “Party Down” Review

Tonight’s “Party Down” episode of Childrens Hospital was as hilarious and random as always. Here’s my recap of tonight’s episode:

The hospital is being overrun with sick Jewish teenagers, when bad salmon was served at Bar Mitzvahs all over town. Since it’s Dr. Blake’s day off, Dr. Valerie states, “There’s only one man who can handle a situation this Jewish,” and calls upon Dr. Glenn for help. However, he tells her that he was never Bar Mitzvah’d and is still only 12 years old, according to Jewish law. So Sy and Valerie agree to organize his Bar Mitzvah.

When Owen hears about about this, he tells Chief and Nurse Kulap he would never have his foreskin cut. They clear up the difference between a Bris and a Bar Mitzvah, and explain that most women find an untouched foreskin way more “masculine & sexy.” Owen quickly admits to being circumcised, and asks the Chief to uncircumcise him “A. S. A. Penis.” Chief tells him she will need his original clippings in order to perform the procedure.
