It’s no shock that I love cooking competition shows, so obviously I’m looking forward to Food Network’s latest, Ultimate Summer Cook-Off. Six talented chefs – from a chef with a restaurant on the beach to a seafood master to a chef from Hawaii, & more – will compete in two rounds of summer culinary heats each week. Whoever wins the first round will earn a key advantage during round two. Eddie Jackson hosts, while Damaris Phillips and Jamika Pessoa (all three we originally met on Food Network Star over the seasons) are the main judges, joined each week by a roster of special guest judges, including Mark Anderson & Ryan Fey, Susie Bulloch, Lazarus Lynch, Courtney Rada, & pitmaster Cameron True. Food Network fans will likely recognize at least a few of those names. In the end, the winner earns a $25,000 grand prize.

Eddie Jackson makes a great host, and Damaris Phillips especially is a ton of fun. My favorite of the guest judges are Mark Anderson & Ryan Fey, the Grill Dads, who we first met on Guy’s Big Project, which was like a smaller, slightly different version of Food Network Star. They’re really funny and should make for great judges. So I’m really looking forward to tonight’s premiere.

On tonight’s episode, “All-American Party,” host Eddie Jackson welcomes six spectacular chefs to the summer house for the ultimate all-American showdown. First up is the best backyard burger. Round two features another quintessential American summer food – hot dogs! In the end, the judges will send one chef home for the summer, while the rest continue on in pursuit of the $25,000 grand prize.

Don’t miss the premiere tonight on Food Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Celebrity Family Feud, The $100,000 Pyramid, Food Network Star, Private Eyes, Beat Bobby Flay, & To Tell the Truth.

I’m excited because tonight is the season premiere of The Great Food Truck Race, and this season, they’re heading into the Wild West – or rather, the Southwest. Last season they headed south and spent time in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, & more. This season, they’ll start off in Los Angeles before traveling to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Yuma, Coachella Valley (where, yes, Coachella takes place), and more. Tyler Florence once again hosts as seven teams battle it out to win the $50,000 prize.

On tonight’s episode, “Wagons Ho!” Tyler kicks off the race at a cattle ranch outside of Los Angeles, where he welcomes the seven teams with their first challenge. Each team must hand-squeeze a pitcher of orange juice in order to receive their seed money and keys to their truck. The trucks then head out to shop and prep for their first day selling on the busy streets of Los Angeles. The team that sells the least is sent home, while the other six head to the next city.

Find out who advances and who goes home tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Match Game, Trial & Error, Beat Bobby Flay, & Take Two.

Tonight, AMC is airing a special The Walking Dead eighth season finale/Fear the Walking Dead fourth season premiere crossover event. Last week on The Walking Dead, Negan returned to the Saviors, who were surprised to see that he was still alive. Negan quickly dispatched Simon for his betrayal, chaining his walker body to the fence of the Saviors’ compound. During the chaos of Negan and Simon’s brawl, Dwight helped Gregory escape, sending him back to the Hilltop to warn Rick and the gang about Negan’s plan of attack. However, Negan later revealed to Dwight that he knew of his betrayal and purposely told him a fake plan so that he would in turn feed it back to Rick. Despite Dwight’s actions, Negan announced he wasn’t going to kill him just yet. Meanwhile, Daryl and Rosita kidnapped Eugene in order to take him back to the Hilltop. However, Eugene didn’t want to leave, so he forced himself to vomit all over Rosita as a distraction and ran away. Finally, Michonne called Negan over the radio in order to read the note Carl had left for him. In the letter, Carl pleaded with Negan, asking him to call off the war, but the words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Negan was still planning to go forward with his plan to completely eliminate Rick and the gang.

Will this battle with the Saviors finally come to an end tonight, or will the writers drag this on for yet another season? Has Eugene really changed sides, or does he have some sort of plan he’s hatching to sabotage the Saviors’ ammo? Will Rick and the gang fall into Negan’s trap, or will they figure out his real plan in time? Will any major characters not survive tonight’s episode? I really hope we see the end of Negan in tonight’s finale so that the show can move on to some other storyline next year!

Following tonight’s finale, Morgan will make his way from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead. I’m really curious to see how this is going to work, as Fear takes place before The Walking Dead and in another part of the country. Will Fear do a time jump? Or will we see a pre-The Walking Dead Morgan? Will the helicopter we’ve seen a few times this season on TWD play a role in transporting Morgan to the other series?

On tonight’s The Walking Dead season finale, “Wrath,” the communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors. The season’s story lines culminate in all-out war.

And in tonight’s Fear the Walking Dead season premiere, “What’s Your Story?” a lone traveler’s wearying journey is interrupted by new acquaintances, some who become friends, others who becomes foes.

Catch all the action tonight on AMC starting at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Timeless, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, Killing Eve, Worst Cooks in America, Trust, Silicon Valley, and Barry.

I’m excited because A) it’s post-Halloween and B) shows like Holiday Baking Championship & Christmas Cookie Challenge are starting tonight. Add those up, and it means it’s the start of the holiday season! Thanksgiving in a few weeks and then Christmas a month later… It makes my heart happy. Lots of quality family time, great food, smiles… What isn’t to love about all that? And that’s why Food Network is my pick tonight for what you should watch.

Nine new bakers are competing in the Holiday Baking Championship to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Chanukah. Jesse Palmer returns as host, while Duff Goldman, Nancy Fuller, and Lorraine Pascale are back as the judges. The contestants will make everything from a candy cane dessert to a fruitcake and more in order to win a $50,000 grand prize and the title of Holiday Baking Champion.

On tonight’s episode, “Holiday Party Delights,” to kick things off, nine bakers must create eye-catching and tantalizing new holiday treats for seasonal parties. In the pre-heat, bakers create a dessert with an unusual candy cane flavor, and then, for the main heat, they use a holiday cocktail as sweet inspiration. One unlucky baker goes home.

Christmas Cookie Challenge is new this season, with host Eddie Jackson (winner of Food Network Star) and lead judge Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman on Food Network). More like Chopped than Holiday Baking Championship, each episode will feature five talented cookie makers who compete in two challenges, the winner of which will walk away with a $10,000 prize each week. There will be a rotating panel of guest judges joining Ree Drummond, including Damiano Carrara, Dan Langan, Jamika Pessoa, Aarti Sequeira, and more.

On tonight’s episode, “Christmas Family Fun,” first up is the decorating challenge where the bakers craft two different decorated Christmas tree cookies, and two bakers go home. The remaining three finalists are “puzzled” by the display challenge, where they must create a giant cookie puzzle based on a Christmas carol.

Check out both shows tonight on Food Network starting at 9/8.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Dancing with the Stars, The Gifted, 9JKL, Scorpion, & The Brave.

I’m still really enjoying The Brave. I love all the characters and the story lines. Last week was a tense one, when the team went over to Afghanistan to interrogate a former US soldier turned member of the Taliban to find out which military base the group was targeting next. Patricia actually went out into the field with the team this time because of her skills as an interrogator. Unfortunately, while they were there at the prison, a guard colluded with one of the prisoners, which allowed the prisoners to kill the guards and take over the prison in order to escape. After some trial and error at finding a way out of the prison, they made their own with explosives, taking the American prisoner with them. Thankfully, even though they were chased, shot at, and nearly blown up by some of the bad guys, our guys escaped relatively unharmed – and Patricia was able to get the location of the target from the prisoner.

What I really enjoyed was the episode’s opening and ending, with Patricia gathering dirt from Afghanistan – a physical reminder of her son, who died while serving overseas. I also really enjoyed seeing Jaz set up her sniper position with the motion sensor, and when it went off, she just calmly switched guns and shot without much more than a glance, knowing whoever was coming up without warning was a bad guy. And finally, with Patricia away from the office, Noah was left in charge. And although Hannah teased him about showing up in a suit and tie, he really did a great job filling in for Patricia, making the tough call when needed. It was great to see him stepping up and taking charge. I’m going to be very, very sad if this show doesn’t get picked up for a full season!

On tonight’s episode, “Enhanced Protection,” when Ambassador Charles Webb (guest star Ben Cain) is in danger while stationed in Nigeria, Dalton’s team heads to the region to find a situation different than they expected. Jaz makes a connection with a little girl she meets during the mission, and Patricia receives some personal news. D.K. Uzoukwo, Amanda Warren, and Jimmy Jean-Louis also guest star.

See what situation they find themselves in tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Dancing with the Stars, 9JKL, The Gifted, Halloween Baking Championship, & Scorpion.
