Jenny’s Choice

ncisla928smallLast week was the season premiere of NCIS: LA, still one of my favorite shows, seven seasons in. The episode was almost all about Callen, which I’m kind of getting tired of. Don’t get me wrong… I love him. But isn’t it time to focus on one of the other members of the team? Kensi, Deeks, and Sam all have stories to tell too! But back to Callen… He was searching for Arkady, who we last saw in the season finale, after he’d been shot and the team had to leave him in the parking garage. To do that, Callen was lone-wolfing it, trying to do it all alone, and the others weren’t happy about it – especially Granger and Hetty. In the end, it all calmed down, and while Callen is still looking for Arkady, he’s not going to be going it alone as much. In addition to that, we got to hear the first (to us) “I love you”s from Kensi and Deeks, and Anatoli Kirkin was back to embarrass Deeks every time he mentioned the naked bath from last season.

This should be another good episode for fans of Deeks and Densi shippers, as we get to meet Deeks’s mom! And with Talia back, it should be fun!

On tonight’s episode, “Citadel,” DEA Agent Talia Del Campo (Mercedes Mason)
turns to the team for help after her partner is murdered. Also, after Kensi grows suspicious that Deeks is hiding something, he surprises her by introducing her to his mother (Pamela Reed).

Meet Deeks’s mom and see if the team can solve the murder and keep Talia safe tonight on CBS at 9:59/8:59c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Rachael Ray’s Kids Cook-Off, Life in Pieces, Minority Report, Scorpion, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Blindspot, & Castle.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/4/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. I’m glad to be home!)

gotham54smallTonight, the first season of Gotham comes to a close. Last week, Gordon and Bullock continued their search for the psychopath known as the Ogre, who had kidnapped and chained up Barbara. During his search for Barbara, Gordon was forced to make a deal with the Penguin and agreed to owe him a favor. When Bullock and Gordon finally did track down the Ogre, Gordon took the kill shot. Meanwhile, Penguin set up an attack on Maroni, making it look like it came from Falcone, fanning the flames for a huge mob war; Kristen walked in on Ed Nygma while he was disposing of Doughtery’s chopped-up body — fortunately the head was not around or she would have realized it was her missing boyfriend; and Bruce learned the truth about Wayne Enterprises — that it was full of deceit and corruption…and that his father knew about it.

So how will this season come to an end? Who will fall victim to the full-scale mob war that’s about to break out? And who will rise to rule over what’s left afterwards? Is Gordon going to get back with Barbara? He still seemed to have some feelings for her last week — so much so that he made a deal with the Penguin. And speaking of that, will the Penguin call in his chip? Will Bruce figure out what his father was hiding, and will it help him clean up the company? I’m looking forward to an exciting finale that will likely leave us anxious for the second season!

On tonight’s episode, “All Happy Families Are Alike,” the Gotham City gang war reaches its boiling point with Fish Mooney battling Maroni and Penguin. In other events, Barbara and Leslie Thompkins are brought together; and Bruce searches Wayne Manor for any clues as to what his father might have left behind.

Catch the exciting season finale tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Castle, Gotham, The Following, Jane the Virgin, Bates Motel, The Returned, and Turn.

gotham15smallTonight, Gotham finally returns from a 6-week break. When we were last in the city, a group of would-be assassins made their way into Wayne Manor—while Alfred confronted the assailants, Selina and Bruce escaped out the back. Elsewhere, Falcone threatened Cobblepot to identify the mole in his organization and later executed one of his men in front of Fish and the other bosses as a show of force. Meanwhile, Dent admitted to Gordon that he leaked the information about Selina being a witness. Gordon confronted Lovecraft—who ordered the hit—but as he was in the middle of telling Gordon that the Wayne killings were just a small part of a much bigger conspiracy, he was killed by an assassin. Gordon was blamed for allowing the murder to happen and was demoted from police detective to security guard at Arkham Asylum.

Someone seems to have it in for Gordon—first he was basically handed over to armed assailants inside the precinct, and now this. Is this all part of the larger conspiracy hinted at in the last episode? Who is behind all of this? How and when will Gordon get his old job back? Or will he find a way to use this new position to investigate what’s really going on in Gotham?

On tonight’s episode, “Rogues’ Gallery,” a guard is murdered at Arkham Asylum as Det. Gordon begins his assignment there. Meanwhile, Cobblepot continues to build his army. Morena Baccarin, Drew Powell, Allyce Beasley, David Zayas, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Christopher Heyerdahl, & Kyle Massey guest star.

See if Det. Gordon can solve the guard’s murder tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording State of Affairs, Sleepy Hollow, and Major Crimes.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/22/14

It’s the week of new television, and honestly it is super exciting every night for me. Tonight has shows returning and a few new shows, so let’s stop the chit chat and see what we’re recommending!

Megan’s Choice #1

gotham922smallGotham premieres tonight, and I am ecstatic for many reasons — and not just because Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) is incredibly adorable, but because there’s a comic book lover in all of us. When I first heard the idea to do a story about how Gotham got to where it is today, how Commissioner Gordon got where he is, and how all the now famous criminals became as evil as they are, I was a little hesitant. Now I am not. Jada Pinkett Smith is fabulous as Fish Mooney, a gang boss, and the depictions of the younger versions of Catwoman, the Penguin, and the Riddler are fantastic. It’s refreshing to see how Bruce Wayne and the Commissioner became friends before they both became the heroes they are today. If you were going to write this show off right away because you don’t like comics…please don’t. It’s worth tuning in for at least one episode to see if it can catch your love like it has mine.

On tonight’s series premiere, “Pilot,” a rookie police officer working the streets of Gotham, a city on the verge of chaos, investigates the double murder of a couple and ends up befriending their son, only to end up witnessing the rise of one of the most iconic super heroes of all times.

To see where our beloved Batman started, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.
