kotn2015smallTonight is the third season premiere of King of the Nerds, which makes me so happy. So many “reality” shows feature beautiful, hip, popular people, but it’s about time that the smart, nerdy, dorky, sometimes cute but often weird people get a chance to shine. Both of the previous seasons, there’s been people I really liked and people I really didn’t, but I’ve been very happy (season 1) and okay (season 2) with who won, so I’m hoping this season will be no exception. Plus, it’s hosted by uber-nerds Curtis Armtstrong & Robert Carradine, so what could be better or funnier?

On tonight’s episode, “Judgment Day,” in the season three premiere, 12 new nerds arrive at Nerdvana to compete for $100,000. The Nerds must create Rube Goldberg-type devices and go deep into the worlds of steampunk and anime. When the first two Nerds face elimination, only Nerdzilla can save them.

Meet the new Nerds tonight on TBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 12 Monkeys, Grimm, & Diners, Drive-ins & Dives.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/15/14

Camera? Check! Converter for electronics? Check! New clothes & sneakers? Check & check! British money? Check! Things are coming along nicely as we get ready for my kiddo’s trip to London. Only thirteen days left! Scary, but it’s so exciting, too. And as I write this up, I can hear the rain hitting the window outside… Rain is my favorite, so I’m having a very good night. Hopefully you had a good weekend too. To start off the work/school week, check out what we’re recommending for your Monday-night TV viewing.

ncisla1215smallLast week’s NCIS: LA was all about fathers and sons, and it was one of those cases that you couldn’t help but feel bad for the killer. Yes, he was a murderer, and that’s a very bad thing, but there were some DEEP psychological issues, including a stepfather who was abusive and a mother who was…well, not a great help to her children. The case hit Sam hard especially, given that, like the boys the killer was “protecting,” he had been a young boy in military school raised by a strict father, and his own son was also off at military school, although it sounded more like his son was structured on his own, rather than being ruled by Sam. And wait… Sam has a son? Who knew! Honestly, I hated when we found out a couple of seasons ago out of the blue that Sam was married and had a daughter. Now, after all this time, to suddenly find out he has a son, too? It’s just…weird. But oh well. LOL I still love the show.

The only thing I was disappointed with last week was that we didn’t see the impact of it more on Kensi, Deeks, and even Callen, who ALL have “daddy” issues. Kensi’s died, Deeks’s was abusive and he killed him when he was a young teenager, and Callen doesn’t remember his father. I understand why the case his Sam hard, given his connection to his own father, but to not even acknowledge the issues with the others was a big misstep on the show’s part, IMO.

Tonight should be really good, and if the preview is any indication, Densi fans are in for a treat. I won’t spoil it here for those who haven’t watched it, but I’m HOPING tonight will be a turning point (in a good way!) for Kensi & Deeks and that they aren’t just teasing us and nothing REALLY happens.

On tonight’s episode, “Humbug,” the team investigates a burglary at a cyber-security company, but Callen must steer clear of the crime scene after Hetty reveals his girlfriend, Joelle, is one of the lead witnesses. Also, the team discusses their personal holiday travel plans. Guest stars include Elizabeth Bogush as Joelle Taylor and Aunjanue Ellis, Layla Crawford, and Tye White as Michelle, Kamran, & Aiden Hanna.

Celebrate Christmas with the team tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 2 Broke Girls, The Great Christmas Light Fight, Mike & Molly, Ascension, Major Crimes, Scorpion, & Mystery Diners.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/28/14

It’s been a hectic and busy week around my house, with family visiting and celebrating Pherson’s third birthday. I cannot believe that my baby boy is 3 already. It seems like just yesterday that he was a chubby baby I was rocking to sleep, and now he’s a mischievous little boy who can ride a bike! Let’s see what’s on TV tonight to amuse you and help keep my mind off my baby not being a baby anymore.

hartofdixie328smallHart of Dixie came back with a mess of relationship drama last week, and what a mess it was. Lemon returned, and we found out she’d been dating two guys while she was at her grandma’s, but that all blew up in her face when the two men found out about each other. Don’t be too upset, because both Carter and Enrique want to keep Lemon, so they are going to continue to try to win her affection and see who ends up with her as a prize. Zoe tries hard to please her mom, but in the end, she can’t run a smear campaign against Brick because the town is her family and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Her mom heads home, but at least they parted on good terms. I’m not sure how I feel about Zoe and Joel still being together, but at least he’s trying, and she needs to focus more on figuring out her career and less time searching for acceptance from her mom.

On tonight’s episode, “Ring of Fire,” Joel hires dubious workers for his renovations, resulting in an accident on the site; Lavon struggles to draw ticket sales for a renaissance fair.

To see what happens during the renovations, tune in to The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Say Yes to the Dress, Enlisted, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, and Hannibal.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/21/14

I am so excited that my dad arrives tomorrow from British Columbia for a week-long visit. I haven’t seen him in almost two years! It’s going to be fun showing him around the new area where I live and him getting to spend time with all the grandkids. While I am on edge with pure excitement, let’s see what’s on television tonight.

hartofdixie321smallHart of Dixie returns tonight on a new night from hiatus, and I’m hoping that it can be a refresher for the series as a whole. I really loved this show from the beginning, but this season, it’s just been lacking a lot of that delicious romantic tension and character growth that Bluebell is usually overflowing with. Joel is a wet blanket for the whole show because not only does his relationship with Zoe lack some real chemistry, but it’s just not believable. When we left the show before hiatus, even Wade’s dad, Crazy Earl, could see that Zoe and Wade were meant to be together and that Joel is more like a brother than a boyfriend for Zoe. My only hope is that everyone can come to find some connections in their relationships, because as it stands now, there is no real connections going on at all.

On tonight’s episode, “Here You Come Again,” Zoe becomes her mother’s client; Brick eagerly anticipates Lemon’s return, but an obstacle delays her trip back; Magnolia gets help from George.

To see if life in Bluebell can finally start getting back to normal, tune in to The CW Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Grimm, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Helix, Hannibal, and Say Yes to the Dress.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/18/13

What beautiful weather we’ve had the last couple of days. I’m savoring them because we’re past the heat of summer and fall, but we aren’t to the point where we had to turn the heater on yet. (Almost, but not quite… LOL When it got down to 18 at night, the space heater sufficed. 😉 ) But the last two days, we’ve had the windows open in the living room and kitchen, and the breeze that goes through is cool, but not so cold that I’m uncomfortable. Love it. I also love TV tonight. We don’t have Bones, but we do have Almost Human to make up for it. So grab your remotes, because here are our recommendations! 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

almosthuman1118smallHow great was the Almost Human premiere last night? I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first. The futuristic look is a lot of fun—all the technology, I mean—and I love the chemistry the cast has. We first met John in the middle of a forced flashback, where he’s gone to a doctor (well, former doctor) to try to recover memories from a year and a half before, when his partner was killed and his leg was blown off. That same explosion put him in a coma for seventeen months. Through one of his forced flashbacks, we saw his ex-girlfriend…as one of the bad guys. Is that truly a memory, or is it his mind playing tricks on him? I guess we’ll find out.

On tonight’s episode, “Skin,” Detective John Kennex and Dorian are dispatched to investigate a murder and high-profile missing persons case that lead them into the highly profitable world of IRCs—Intimate Robot Companions—also known as sexbots. Meanwhile, Kennex looks to reconcile a part of his troubled past.

See what Kennex has to face about his past tonight on FOX at 8/7c.
