Tonight, Syfy kicks off a new supernatural drama Superstition. The Hastings family has been secretly protecting their small town of La Rochelle, Georgia, for almost a century from evil forces known as Infernals. Isaac Hastings (Mario Van Peebles, Roots) and wife Bea (Robinne Lee, Hitch) are the proprietors of the town’s only funeral home. Ever since his boys were young, Isaac been training them to fight ghosts and demons. However, 16 years ago, an incident left youngest son Arlo dead, and first-born Calvin immediately left to join the military. Now Calvin (Brad James, Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse) has returned from Afghanistan to rejoin his father in the fight against evil. Aiding them in their efforts are forensic scientist Tilly (Tatiana Zappardino), Sheriff May Westbrook (Demetria McKinney, House of Payne) and her teenage daughter Garvey (Morgana Van Peebles, Ali), who works part-time in the funeral home. Other than May, the rest of local police department isn’t aware of what the Hastings are really up to, and she tries to keep things that way.

The premiere jumps right into the thick of things while also introducing us to the main characters as well as this mysterious small town. The details as to the nature of some of the relationships between the characters slowly unfolds, and we learn that some of them are keeping secrets or hidden motivations that will be revealed over the course of the series. The pilot sets up this spooky atmosphere that is ripe for tales of demons, spirits, and other supernatural creatures wreaking havoc on the small town. I enjoyed tonight’s premiere and look forward to seeing more of the series.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Calvin Hastings returns home to reconnect with his family, but the reunion is cut short by a string of killings instigated by a supernatural villain only Calvin & his family can take down.

See how this new drama compares to Supernatural tonight on Syfy at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Marvel’s Inhumans, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, Ginormous Food, and Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus.

Last week’s Hawaii Five-0 premiere was a bit out there, even for me. I liked the introduction of new team member Tani Rey. She is definitely a female Steve McGarrett, in that she sometimes seems to act before she thinks. But she fit in well, as far as I could see. It’ll be interesting to learn more about her and her back story, including the brother we saw in one scene. I love the fact that Steve and Danny are actually going to open up a restaurant – although an Italian place in the middle of Chinatown is kinda funny. The case-of-the-week part was good, but I don’t know why Steve couldn’t life them all out on the straps he sent down, instead of lifting up the whole cabin with them inside. To me, that didn’t make any sense. LOL

Tonight we meet another new team member, Junior Reigns, played by Beulah Koale (who, according to Google, was born in New Zealand and is of Samoan descent, so at least he’s sort of like a native Hawaiian!).

On tonight’s episode, “Na la ‘ilio (Dog Days),” McGarrett and Five-0 work with an injured police dog who is the only witness to an ambushed drug bust. Also, McGarrett is visited by Junior Reigns, a former SEAL, who is looking to join the task force.

See how Junior joins the team tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, MacGyver, & Blue Bloods.

It’s going to be a big season of change on Hawaii Five-0. Last season ended with the team shutting down as much of the human trafficking ring and rescuing as many young girls as they could, but Kono couldn’t leave it alone. It hit her hard, and she decided she was going to go to the mainland and see if she could take out some more of the traffickers and rescue more of the kidnapped girls. Also, Chin Ho was offered a job by Federal Prosecutor Robert Coughlin (who originally went after Five-0 using Abby as his inside man): to lead his own Five-0-type team in San Francisco, where Abby used to live. Over the summer, we learned that both Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park had been let go from the show, so we know that Kono is still off trying to shut down the traffickers and Chin accepted the job, taking him, Abby, and Sarah to San Francisco. As much as I hate to see them go (and I do TRULY hate to see them go, both the actors & the characters), this is much better than killing them off or putting them in WitSec (looking at you, Criminal Minds!).

The show was quick to fill their spots. First, Kono’s husband, Adam, will stick around, as Ian Anthony Dale has been upped to a series regular. Despite his past and family history, Steve will recruit him to help with a specific case later in the season, and I believe he stays. Meaghan Rath (Being Human) joins the cast in the premiere as a lifeguard who was kicked out of the police academy, despite being a strong contender. Think of her as the female Steve McGarrett — not afraid to bend or even break the rules to get done what needs to be done if it’s something that is right. And finally, relative newcomer Beulah Koale will join as a Navy SEAL who just returned (like, DAYS before) from serving and asks McGarett for a job. It’ll be interesting to see how Steve, Danny, and the others handle the newbies and having Adam around more! (Especially how Steve & Danny handle having a female Steve there. LOL)

On tonight’s episode, “’A’ole e ‘olelo mai ana ke ahi ua ana ia (Fire Will Never Say That It Has Had Enough),” McGarrett and Danny recruit Tani Rey to join the task force when diabolical hacker Aaron Wright (guest star Joey Lawrence) releases a dangerous arsonist from prison. Also, Randy Couture and Andrew Lawrence also return as guest stars.

Don’t miss the exciting premiere tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

Last week’s Hawaii Five-0 was another strong one. When Steve got a tip from a prisoner named Naser Salaam, who he visited in Guantanamo Bay. Apparently Steve was part of the group of men who questioned him when he was brought to the prison ten years before, and he was the only one who treated Salaam with any sort of dignity – gave him a prayer quilt, water, food, etc. And when Salaam learned from another prisoner that there was some sort of attack coming to Hawaii, he wanted to repay the favor and warn Steve so he could get his friends and family out. It was great seeing Steve in the flashbacks, showing that we don’t have to act like the bad guys when we’re dealing with the bad guys. In the end, they figured out that the terrorists were planning to shoot off a rocket to take down a plane of soldiers who were coming back with the body of a soldier who’d been killed overseas. Fortunately, Steve himself was able to tackle the guy before he took the shot. They were fighting, and he grabbed the launcher and shot it at the guy, who pretty much just evaporated. It was wickedly awesome and gross, all at the same time. Unfortunately, Steve then learned that the terror attack might have been orchestrated by a cabal in the US government…which I’m betting will play into next season, since tonight’s finale is all about the human trafficking story line.

Meanwhile, Chin met with Abby’s former boss, Coughlin, who said they’re having trouble getting the triads under control in San Francisco, and he wants to start up a task force like Five-0…and he wants Chin to run it. Of course, that would mean Chin having to move to California. Chin said he’d think about it, and he did. He also talked to Steve, who already knew, since Coughlin gave him the heads-up, but he didn’t say yet whether or not he’s going to take the job. He did tell Steve that he was planning to ask Abby soon to marry him, which is awesome. And finally, there was the story line with Hirsh, who is always a fun character. He asked Kono to meet with him and then tried to get her to expunge his criminal record, since he tried to get a loan at the bank to expand his crime scene clean-up business, but they turned him down because of his record. Of course she said no, but Adam took a look at Hirsh’s business plan, which sucked, and helped him come up with a better one. When Hirsh was turned down by every other bank on the island (poor guy! LOL), Kamekona surprises him by giving him an envelope of money – not a loan but an investment, as he’s now a “silent” partner of the business. I love that… I’d love to see a spinoff of Hirsh, Adam, and Kamekona and the crime scene clean-up business! Think of the crossovers they could have!

On tonight’s episode, “Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono (The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness),” McGarrett risks his life when Five-0 attempts their most dangerous rescue yet of young girls trapped in the sex trafficking ring they have been tracking this year. Also, Kono, deeply affected by the case, makes a life-changing decision.

Don’t miss tonight’s season finale on CBS at 9/8c.

Tonight is the season finale of Blue Bloods, and I am both excited and sad. It has been a great season overall, but I was really hoping we would have seen more relationship growth between Jamie and Eddie by now. Hopefully the writers get their game together next season, because my shipper dreams are dying.

On last week’s episode, Erin discovered someone from her office stole evidence for her case and set out to prove it. Eventually, she did get Gary to admit he did it, and her case was saved. Elsewhere, Danny had to learn to play well with two Russian officers when they fell into a case together involving a KGB agent who opened up fire in a restaurant after a woman refused to go back to Russia with him. They solved the case, and Danny was beyond ready to send those Russian officers back before they drove him even crazier.

On tonight’s episode, “The Thin Blue Line,” when Danny intercepts a shipment of several million dollars that was heading to a drug cartel in Mexico, he becomes a target when they come back for revenge. Also, Jamie works independently to track down a serial killer who preys on the elderly, and Mayor Poole confides in Frank that he plans to retire.

To see how Jamie does solo, tune in to CBS 10/9c.
