If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/3/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

hotincleveland63smallThrough six seasons, I’ve enjoyed the stories and antics of Melanie, Joy, Victoria, and Elka on Hot in Cleveland. They started out as three women from L.A. who ended up living in Cleveland when their plane had to land there, and they discovered that they loved the attention (from men LOL ) they were getting. Because things weren’t going their way in L.A., they decided to stay, ending up renting a house that came with its own caretaker/roommate: Elka. There’s been love, heartbreak, and the friendship between all four of them has grown over the six seasons, and I’m very sad to see the show coming to an end tonight.

Going into the final episode, Joy and Bob are engaged. Will the wedding actually happen? Will Melanie and Victoria finally find love again? Will everyone stay in Cleveland, or will Melanie, Joy, and Victoria end up back in California? I’m sad to see it go, but I can’t wait to see what happens tonight!

On tonight’s extended finale, “Vegas, Baby/I Hate Goodbyes,” Joy and Bob’s wedding plans are derailed when they learn there is a baby available for adoption in Las Vegas; Victoria connects with a long-lost love.

Catch the 90-minute series finale and see how it all ends tonight on TV Land at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef, Melissa & Joey, Brother vs Brother, Bullseye, Mystery Diners, & Craziest Restaurants in America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/5/14

Ahh, it’s finally Wednesday! My kid’s been gone on a family trip to Disney World in Florida since early Friday morning. I’ll be so glad to have him home today! But enough about me… Check out what we’re recommending for tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

hotincleveland115smallI’m doing a dual pick tonight, with the season premieres of Hot in Cleveland & The Exes. Last season, the women in Cleveland celebrated their collective birthdays, and per tradition, they set one another up on blind dates. Melanie’s date ended up together with his sex therapist, who he’d started seeing in order to be ready to date Melanie, but along the way, they fell for each other. Victoria’s date (Luke Perry) was growing body parts (noses and…who knows what else) for other people on his body. And Joy was proposed to…by Simon, Mitch, & Bob. But the season ended when she was accidently knocked unconscious and then spirited away to the hospital, before she could announce her decision. And while waiting for her, Elka was shocked when Max walked by! Meanwhile, on the season finale of The Exes, Phil and Nicki were about to sleep together but changed their minds, and Haskell, thinking he had to interrupt and tell Phil about his feelings for her, barged in, told Phil he was in love with Nicki, and was shocked when she walked in after overhearing him.

theexes115smallSo who will Joy choose—if anyone—and what will Nicki say about Haskell’s declaration? I’m so excited for the new seasons to start tonight so I can find out!

On tonight’s Hot in Cleveland premiere, “Comfort and Joy,” Joy decides whether to marry Mitch, Simon, or Bob. Victoria’s new CGI movie proves challenging in ways she didn’t expect. Elka tries to bring film jobs to Cleveland.

Then on the premiere of The Exes, “The Devil Wears Hanes,” Holly makes an attempt at playing Cupid following Haskell’s declaration of love for Nicki; meanwhile, Stuart comes up with a plan to secretly arrange for Phil to get together with his crush from when he was in high school.

Check out the laughs tonight on TV Land at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, The Mysteries of Laura, Criminal Minds, Cutthroat Kitchen, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago PD, Kitchen Inferno, Stalker, & Top Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/30/14

Wednesday, which means mid-week. That’s a good thing. Although my Tuesday was good, so I’m not stressing the week so far. In case you are, though, here are a few recommendations to help ease the way into the second half of the week. (By the way… Welcome back, Kyle! Hope you had fun at SDCC!)

Jenny’s Choice #1

hotincleveland730smallTonight should be a fun episode of Hot in Cleveland. Last week was great, too. Victoria had a visit from the son she always forgets, played by Glee’s Chris Colfer. He showed up with his partner, only we learned while Victoria was out of the room that he wasn’t really gay. He’d only told Victoria that to make her love him more. He was back because he wanted her backing for something he and his business partner were involved in. Watching the two of them pretend to be gay (the partner was all for it when Victoria announced she was giving them both new sports cars for their wedding. LOL) was great. In the end, Victoria and Tony had a heartfelt talk about why he chose to live with his father instead of her. The other great story line was Joy and Mitch going to preemptive counseling, and the therapist told them that they weren’t compatible. In the end, they realized they had a lot in common and the therapist got his compatibility quiz from those “Which Disney character are you?” type quizzes. It was great.

On tonight’s episode, “The Animated Episode,” the women finally see Elka’s apartment, which before now has been a mystery to them…and they soon find out why. From there, they meet up with Steven Tyler (and some other special friends) and go on a psychedelic romp through pop culture hits, including scenes with homages to Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, The Walking Dead, and Frankenstein. Plus, they see what life in Cleveland would have been like if LeBron James had never left.

Check out the first-ever animated episode on TV Land at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/16/14

It’s Hump Day! That means not only are we looking at some great shows, but also it’s midway through the week, so we’re that much closer to the weekend! Yay! 🙂 Kyle’s catching up on shows from earlier in the week, so Megan and I are here to give you our recommendations.

Jenny’s Choice #1

hotincleveland716smallLast week on Hot in Cleveland, the ladies learned that Elka had written a play. They decided to go see it, and there, they learned it was about them and when they moved in. The characters were all basically caricatures. All their “worst” features were exaggerated. “Melanie” was way too perky and wanted people to like her. “Victoria” was self-centered and all about telling people she was famous. Last but certainly not lease, “Joy” was actually played by a man. The ladies were really offended and embarrassed, so they left early. In the end, they went back because they wanted to see how the play ended. They were shocked when Elka had ended the play by thanking them for shaking up her world. It was cute.

On tonight’s episode, “Auction Heroes,” Joy decides to finally tell Mitch how she feels, but a handsome yet scheming dating coach gets in the way. Meanwhile, Victoria is surprisingly taken with a very Cleveland-y screenwriter. Tim Daly, Coby Bell, & Dan Lauria guest star.

Find out if Joy is able to tell Mitch her feelings tonight on TV Land at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/2/14

Allergies were kicking my butt yesterday. My eyes itched and burned all day, making me feel tired, even though I wasn’t. I have a feeling today will be more of the same. On a good note, that means less time on the computer and more time watching TV, so it’s not all bad! 😉 Megan’s taking the day off, so check out Kyle’s and my recommendations for what to watch tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

hotincleveland72smallLast week on Hot in Cleveland, Joy met her new boss, played by cutie Tim Daly. She fell hard for him immediately, promptly calling her own house phone and leaving a message stating that she’d just met the man she was going to marry. Unfortunately for her, he met Melanie shortly after and fell hard for her, not Joy—so much so that Joy decided to step back and not tell Melanie or Mitch how she felt. Meanwhile, Elka hired a statistics expert to help her out with her campaign, and with his help, she took over as favorite for the city council. And to everyone’s surprise, Victoria was nominated for an Oscar!

On the first of tonight’s two episodes, “People Feeding People,” Melanie gets strong-armed into going on a date with Ross Barkley in order to help Elka get his endorsement for City Council, and while Mitch continues in his efforts to get over Melanie, Joy is forced to hide her feelings for him. Then in the second episode, “Murder House,” during a major storm, the ladies are stuck inside with Victoria’s island boyfriend, Melanie’s downer friend, and Joy’s mother; meanwhile, Elka believes that the ghost of a murdered woman has come back seeking her revenge. Chevy Chase, Tim Daly, & Rob Schneider guest star.

To see how Joy hides her feelings and what craziness ensues at the “murder house,” tune in to TV Land at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cousins Undercover, So You Think You Can Dance, Young & Hungry, Mystery Girls, Restaurant Stakeout, & Taxi Brooklyn.
