My favorite celebrity chef is Michael Symon. I also love watching Bobby Flay most of the time. They’re best friends in real life, so whenever they get together (like when Michael visits Beat Bobby Flay, etc), it’s always fun to watch. So when I heard they were teaming up for a new cooking competition series, I knew I had to watch. BBQ Brawl is a short, four-episode competition that pits the two of them as they coach eight of the country’s most respected BBQ challengers. At stake? Bragging rights for Bobby & Michael, and for the competitors, it’s the title of Master of Cue and the starring role in a series on FoodNetwork.com. Pretty sweet!

On tonight’s episode, “Backyard Barbecue,” Bobby and Michael suss out the talents of eight elite barbecue masters, but before choosing teams, they face off in a backyard barbecue challenge to determine who gets first pick. The eight contenders serve up backyard barbecue dishes to a trio of expert judges, and two contenders are sent home.

See who comes out on top tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching MasterChef, Dr. Pimple Popper, Family Food Fight, Beat Bobby Flay, & Reef Break.

Tonight, the fifth and final season of iZombie kicks off on The CW. Last season, the secret about zombies came out, and New Seattle was born – a sectioned off part of the city that kept the zombie population separate from the humans. A woman known as Renegade was smuggling terminally ill people across the border in order to save them by turning them into zombies. When she died, Liv took over the role. As the season came to a close, this was discovered, and Chase, the CEO of Fillmore Graves, called for her public execution. The rest of the gang – Clive, Ravi, Peyton, and Major – teamed up with the remaining crew of the Underground Railroad to help save Liv. As Peyton rallied protesters via TV, Major hulked out and stormed the warehouse where Liv was being held. In the commotion, Liv killed Chase, smashing his head with an anvil.

Meanwhile, Blaine and Brother Love decided to take advantage of the execution distraction and organized their followers to break out of New Seattle to spread the zombie virus. However, soldiers were waiting for them on the other side of the wall and killed Brother Love and his devotees. Fortunately for his son, Blaine had played it safe, watching his father’s attempt at an exodus from a distance. With Chase dead, Major took over the position as head of Fillmore Graves, telling Liv that the company would no longer block the Underground Railroad and their only enemy was the US Army. He also offered Blaine and Don-E a proposition – they could be the good guys for once and help smuggle brains into New Seattle now that the government had cut off their supply.

Finally, Ravi offered Liv a brain that would turn her human again. However, she turned it down, giving it to Dale, who had just married Clive in a surprise wedding at the police precinct. So things ended on a positive note, but will this continue with everyone working on the same side for once, or will Blaine find some scheme to benefit himself? Will Ravi finally find a cure for the zombies virus before the season is over? And will Liv and Major finally get their happy ending?

On tonight’s premiere, “Thug Death,” while investigating a murder case in which there is no body or brain to eat, the only evidence Liv and Clive have to work with is a grainy video and a little bit of blood found at the crime scene; Blaine is up to his old tricks.

See how the final season starts tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Superstore, A.P. Bio, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Abby’s.

Tonight, NBC kicks off the new dramedy Good Girls, which follows three suburban mothers who decide to fix their financial problems by robbing a grocery store. Beth Boland (Christina Hendricks, Mad Men) discovers that her husband, car dealership owner Dean (Matthew Lillard, Twin Peaks, Bosch), has been both cheating on her and has been lying about the family’s devastating financial situation for years. Her younger sister Annie’s (Mae Whitman, Parenthood) ex is demanding custody of their daughter Sadie (Izzy Stannard, Brad’s Status) and she needs money to hire a lawyer. And friend Ruby (Retta, Parks and Recreation) and her security guard husband Stan (Reno Wilson, Mike & Molly) are in desperate need of money to pay for their daughter’s kidney treatments. Fed up with their situations, the women break bad and rob the local grocery store where Annie works, hoping to get $30K to ease their money problems. However, their situation becomes a lot more complicated when they discover they got more than they bargained for and are now wrapped up in a dangerous situation involving the head of a local crime gang, Rio (Manny Montana, Graceland).

I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere. The cast is great and really play well off one another, and the pilot does a good job of establishing the characters’ relationships and motivations. The series feels much like Big Little Lies meets Breaking Bad. You’ve got the dark secrets these suburban moms are dealing with that ultimately cause them to do really bad things in the name of helping out their families. The series has this nice blend of drama and humor. The women forced to do some unexpected things, and while they initially have good intentions, things quickly get out of hand and desperation takes over. I look forward to seeing what other twists and turns happen over the course of the season and if/how these women are about to get out of the situation they’ve managed to get themselves into. Will be see them go full-on Walter White by the end of the season, or will they find a way to still remain good people at heart?

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a trio of desperate suburban moms decide that being good never got them anywhere and rob a supermarket in order to get a little cash to help them and their families out. Unfortunately, the supermarket is already the territory of a local gang, and the women soon find themselves in hot water.

Meet the three moms who take on more than they bargained for tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

There are so many things on tonight that I want to recommend that I had trouble even narrowing it down to two… So I picked the two that I’m most excited about or knew I’d enjoy the most. First up is the double episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This show always, ALWAYS makes me laugh. Last week, we first got to see the Nine-Nine go to Cop-Con, which was pretty much what it sounded like: Comic-Con for cops, with presentations, gadgets, etc, all geared toward law enforcement. The group has always used the time to party and let off some steam, but this year, Captain Holt asked them to be on their best behavior since he was trying for a position on some board of law enforcement officers. So the team decided they’d still party (even opting to host it themselves when the group who usually threw the big party was arrested! LOL), but they’d do it on the down-low. Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as planned. Holt’s laptop was stolen by his biggest rival and his presentation messed with – surprise, surprise!

Then on the second episode, Amy was studying for the Sergeant’s exam, but as always, she was obsessing and freaking out…so much so that she was ready to quit. I loved how Jake tracked her down by getting into her shoes, prompted by Rosa. When he finally cornered her on the rooftop from “The Bet,” she admitted that she was worried because their relationship might change. Jake was very sweet and said even if it did, they’d get through it. And there was also some great stuff with Capt. Holt and Terry, basically competing to see who could build the “best” model train set – best being the operative word. Capt. Holt thought the best one was accurate down to the most minute detail, while Terry let his imagination fly. It was pretty funny to see the little boy come in and scoff at both, asking where the video games were. As the mother of a young man who was a little boy not so long ago, I can totally relate!

I’ve seen tonight’s double episode, and I have to say they’re some of my favorites in a while. For one, we meet Capt. Holt’s mother. Yes, you read that right: WE MEET HIS MOTHER, who is basically a slightly older, slightly more feminine version of Capt. Holt himself. LMAO And second, we get more Jake/Rosa stuff, which is always fun. Finally, we see something we’ve never seen before when Scully and Hitchcock are not only at odds but almost knock-down-drag-out fighting. Fun!

On tonight’s double episode, “Your Honor/The Slaughterhouse,” Captain Holt’s mom (guest star L. Scott Caldwell) seeks support from the precinct after her house is robbed. Meanwhile, Terry, Rosa and Boyle remodel the breakroom and Amy teaches Gina how to change her own car tire. Then, Jake and Rosa try to earn the respect of their idol, Lieutenant Melanie Hawkins (guest star Gina Gershon), while Charles, Terry and Gina test different parenting methods to resolve a conflict between Scully and Hitchcock.

Meet Mrs. Holt tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

Sometimes, there are no words for how much sheer joy television brings us viewers. Fans of Gilmore Girls were certainly that happy when they learned the show was returning. For me? I’m not sure I’ve ever been as happy as I was when I learned they were bringing Prison Break back from the dead, even if it is just a short 9-episode season! I was SO SAD when the series ended after only four seasons, especially with how they left the group from Fox River… Michael was killed, and Sara was pregnant… I mean, come on!

Wait. Michael’s dead? Maybe, maybe not. 😉 I mean, it wouldn’t be Prison Break without Michael Scofield, right? I love that all our favorite characters are back: Michael, Lincoln, Sara, Sucre, T-Bag, C-Note, Paul Kellerman… I really am on the edge of my seat, hoping things will work out with Michael and Sara, since Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) is also on the show as Sara’s HUSBAND! What the what??

Kyle got to talk to some of the cast in the press room at SDCC this past summer. Check it out here on NoReruns.net

On tonight’s episode, “Ogygia,” it’s been seven years since Michael was presumed dead, but when clues suggest that he might still be alive, his brother Lincoln reunites with Sara to help track down the truth. The path leads Lincoln to Yemen, as Sucre, T-Bag, and C-Note are pulled back into the action to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.

See what clues lead Lincoln to believe Michael’s alive tonight on FOX at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, NCIS, American Housewife, Trial & Error, Imaginary Mary, Chicago Fire, Chopped, & NCIS: New Orleans.
