ncis223smallLast week’s NCIS was exciting. The Secretary of the Navy’s (Sarah Porter) daughter was kidnapped, along with her boyfriend, and while the boyfriend was found shortly after, alive and unharmed, they eventually got a ransom call, asking for $10 million. They wouldn’t allow Porter to deliver the ransom like the instructions said, in case it was someone who specifically wanted to get to her, so her ex-husband agreed to do it. When he got to the drop-off point, they sent him to another place, and when he saw the van, they told him to give them the money, but then they shot at him and raced away, leaving him to watch as they closed the door on his view of his daughter. They also remotely blew up a few cars in the parking garage near Gibbs and McGee. Everyone ended up okay, thank goodness. In the end, it was personal. The former special-ops team was hired by the ex-husband’s girlfriend, but they killed her and tried to leave the city in a helicopter, only to be stopped by Gibbs & co.

We’re on the back half of the season, leading up to Tony’s departure. I’m worried… How will he go out? Will he be reunited with Ziva? With Jeanne Benoit (who is my pick, if she divorces her husband or something… She’s back tonight, so maybe we’ll get some answers on that front…)? He’s gotta find a forever love, right?

On tonight’s episode, “Loose Cannons,” Doctor Cyril Taft (Jon Cryer) experiences the rush of an NCIS case after he is assigned surgical duty to Gibb’s suspect and finds key evidence. Also, Dinozzo pays Jeanne Benoit (Scottie Thompson) a visit as he chases a lead involving doctors in Sudan. Laura San Giacomo & David Chisum also guest star.

See how Tony’s visit with Jeanne goes tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hollywood Game Night, Team Ninja Warrior, Grandfathered, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Chicago Med, Junk Food Flip, The Little Couple, NCIS: NOLA, Rizzoli & Isles, Chicago Fire, Chopped, Rattled, & The Shannara Chronicles.

ncisla222smallOn the last new episode of NCIS: LA, the team paired up with Anna, Arkady’s daughter, after she kidnapped Kirkin (whose flirtation with Deeks was once again freakin’ hysterical) in order to learn her father’s whereabouts. Kirkin didn’t know for sure, but he did give them clues in order to find Arkady. It meant they had to go undercover at a gala so they could hack into the Russian Consul General’s computer. Of course, Kensi and Deeks had to go in as staff – catering, to be precise – while Callen and Anna were a couple and Sam went as their guest. It was dicey (Kensi to the rescue with the signal jammer and Anna and Callen had to do some distraction to keep the guards from seeing Sam as he sneaked into the room), but they accomplished their goal of figuring out in which Arkady was being held.

This is a two-part episode, with the conclusion airing tonight. Sam, Callen, and Anna head to Russia, while Kensi and Deeks stay behind. And tonight, we find (along with Callen) out more about Callen’s history, including a huge secret we’ve all been wondering about for seven seasons! I can’t wait!

On tonight’s episode, “Matryoshka, Part 2,” while they’re in Russia, Callen, Sam and Anna (guest star Bar Paly) craft a plan to break Anna’s father and his CIA agent companion out of prison. In Los Angeles, Kensi and Deeks take Eric into the field on an assignment.

See if they can break Arkady out of prison and how Eric does in the field tonight on CBS at 9:59/8:59c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kids Baking Championship, Superstore, Cake Wars, Ellen’s Design Challenge, Lucifer, Major Crimes, Scorpion, & Castle.

mustseetvspecialsmallTonight, NBC is reuniting the casts of some of its most iconic comedies for the new 2-hour special Must See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows. James Burrows started directing TV sitcoms in 1974 with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and has gone on to direct the pilots for shows like Taxi, Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, and Mike & Molly. The pilot of the upcoming NBC comedy Crowded marks Burrow’s 1000th episode of TV!

Tonight’s special will feature appearances from the casts of Cheers, Friends, Frasier, Will & Grace, Taxi, The Big Bang Theory, Wings, Mike & Molly, Two and a Half Men, and Crowded. Plus, other familiar sitcom stars will also make special appearances. It should be a fun look back at some great network comedy and a nice celebration of the accomplishments of this prolific TV icon.

Check out the great casts on tonight’s 2-hour special on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Good Wife, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, Family Guy, Bordertown, The Walking Dead, Talking Dead, and Shameless.

grimm219smallLast week’s Grimm was a bit gruesome. An ancient Wesen ritual was back in Portland. Victims (mostly homeless men) were hung up on a wooden cross of sorts and then stabbed with a Wesen’s horn. Their blood was then collected in a cup and poured in a circle around the victim. When Monroe went undercover at one of the meetings of a group of Wesen, we saw the guy committing those crimes as part of the group – who were some of the Wesen who wanted to go public. They eventually caught the murderer, killing him right before he could kill his latest victim. Meanwhile, Eve, Trubel, and Meisner went after a group of Black Claw members or Wesen who had knowledge of them, and they were all killed but one. Eve then did her scary Wesen-powers thing and took away his mouth, eyes, and ears so he couldn’t speak, see, or hear, and once they let him stew awhile like that, he spilled what he knew.

Eve is really creepy. I mean, she’s scary powerful, but she’s also creepy in that she literally shows no emotion whatsoever. It’s frightening. What’s not scary or creepy? How much I love Nick and Adalind together. I mean, they aren’t TOGETHER together, but they’re getting closer – especially given their recent kiss. But the way they act around each other really is sweet and fun to watch. I’ve seen tonight’s episode, and there’s some great Eve stuff AND a fun Adalind scene as well – not to mention a huge step in one of the series’ mythology lines!

On tonight’s episode, “Map of the Seven Knights,” Monroe gets a call from a relative in Germany that will bring Nick closer to his ancestors. Things get complicated when the nefarious group Black Claw is also after the same artifacts. Elsewhere, Capt. Renard helps a mayoral candidate get an edge on his opponent. Meanwhile, Trubel confronts Eve about Nick and Adalind.

See what Nick learns tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Last Man Standing, American Diner Revival, Hawaii Five-0, Second Chance, Blue Bloods, Guy & Hunter’s European Vacation, & Burgers, Brew & ’Que.

survivor2016smallSurvivor kicks off its 32nd competition tonight on CBS, as eighteen new castaways embark on a grueling 39-day game of trying to outwit, outplay, and outlast the rest of the competition in order to win $1 million. This season, the show is trying the Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty format again, and hopefully this time the Brains team can last a bit longer before they start cannibalizing themselves! While there aren’t any returning contestants this year, there may be some familiar faces: Big Brother fans may recognize “Beast Mode Cowboy” Caleb, who joins the Beauty tribe; and sports fans may recognize former NBA champion Scot Pollard, who is part of the Brawn tribe. Looking at the photos of these contestants, I always wonder where they draw the line between “beauty” and “brawn,” because the Beauty team looks quite fit. The rest of the cast includes a poker player, a contractor, a body builder, a personal trainer, a former FBI agent, an ER doctor, a bounty hunter, a postal worker, a bartender, a computer programmer, a chemist, an ice cream entrepreneur, a college student, a gardener, and a social media marketer.

It looks like a great mix of folks – no one really seems like a weak link on paper. It should be another interesting season, and while I should probably support the Brains team, I’ll likely be rooting for Caleb since he was a lot of fun on Big Brother. It’ll be interesting to see if the other contestants recognize him, and if so, how they treat him.

On tonight’s 90-minute premiere, “I’m a Mental Giant,” eighteen castaways arrive on the island of Kaôh Rong in Cambodia and are divided into three tribes according to brains, brawn, and beauty. Later, one player deals with excruciating pain when a bug gets stuck in their ear.

Meet the new castaways tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, black-ish, Arrow, Supernatural, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, Man Seeking Woman, Suits, Face Off, Younger, and Teachers.
