Saturday on TV – 4/15/17

Saturday is the series premiere of Class on BBC America at 10:10/9:10c. BBC AMERICA’s new Doctor Who spin-off, Class, comes from award-winning YA writer and executive producer, Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls), and is executive produced by Moffat and Minchin. The show will follow four Coal Hill School students who have hidden secrets and desires, navigate a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow — and possibly the end of existence. Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. Time travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into Shadow. The program stars Greg Austin as Charlie; Fady Elsayed as Ram; Sophie Hopkins as April; Vivian Oparah as Tanya and Katherine Kelly as Miss Quill.

Tonight is also the season premieres of Doctor Who at 9/8c and The Graham Norton Show at 11:20/10:20c, both also on BBC America.

Tonight is the series premiere of Nate and Jeremiah by Design on TLC at 9/8c. TLC makes a move back into the property space in a new series with interior designer and author Nate Berkus and interior designer and husband Jeremiah Brent. Their first venture into TV together follows the couple inside and outside of the home, as they juggle married life and raising their baby daughter, Poppy, while helping distressed homeowners turn a disaster into a dream home. In each one-hour episode, Nate and Jeremiah use their talent and irresistible charm to transform lives through design, rescuing homeowners who have gone over budget and over schedule on renovation projects and cannot see an end in sight. With budget at the forefront and the couple’s lifestyle in mind, Nate and Jeremiah boldly revisit the home’s layout to build a practical-yet-stylish space. They then search high and low for unique design pieces to bring character and a personal touch into these refreshed dwellings. But the joys and challenges that Nate and Jeremiah encounter professionally are nothing in comparison to those faced in their most important job, as fathers to baby Poppy. The proud parents bring the audience inside their private life to see firsthand how they balance demanding careers and spending time with “the girl that changed everything.”

Tonight is also the 2-hour series premiere of The Son on AMC at 9/8c. Based on Philipp Meyer’s New York Times best-selling and Pulitzer Prize finalist novel, this one-hour drama is a sweeping family saga spanning 150 years and three generations of the McCullough family. The series traces the transformation of Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan), the charismatic family patriarch, from good-natured innocent to calculating killer. He loses everything on the wild frontier, setting him on the path to building a ranching-and-oil dynasty of unsurpassed wealth and privilege. Eli’s eldest son Pete (Henry Garrett), has grown up in his father’s shadow and struggles to make him proud while forging his own identity. Pete’s strong-willed daughter, Jeannie (Sydney Lucas) idolizes her grandfather and despite being raised in a male-dominated world, rejects her fate of existing solely to marry and bear children. Eli’s ruthlessness pits him against his wealthy Spanish neighbor, Pedro Garcia (Carlos Bardem) and his quest for power triggers consequences that span generations. Shared through a series of flashbacks, The Son pulls viewers into the world of young Eli McCullough (Jacob Lofland) and his father figure, Comanche war chief, Toshaway (Zahn McClarnon) and deftly explores the McCullough’s rise to become one the most powerful family dynasties in Texas.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Hidden Money Makeover on TLC at 10/9c. Design expert Jill Martin and handyman Gage Cass show people around the country that their dream makeover isn’t out of reach. The jam-packed hour features real-life homeowners who turn their clutter into cash, and transform their eyesore living spaces into aesthetically-pleasing parts of the home.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Road Hauks on History Channel at 10/9c. The show follows the creation of custom off-road vehicles that pay homage to the past while still maintaining a modern, rugged look. Kenny Hauk and his crew of expert mechanics and fabricators at Hauk Designs are history buffs who pride themselves on the ability to make builds that are both historic and have high-horsepower. Hauk began his business out of his parents’ garage and has grown the company into a world-renowned off-road automotive shop. The team’s inspiration for vehicles has no limits. From a Colt .45 handgun to a steam locomotive to a Viking battering ram, they transform all eras of history into their builds. Hauk executes his designs with the help of his team including lead mechanic Rick, lead fabricator Rob, mechanic Clint, operations manager Justin, technician Josh Moe, and his wife and part owner Vianna.

Tonight is also the season premiere of Murder Made Me Famous on Reelz at 8/7c.

Finally, tonight is a new episode of Saturday Night Live on NBC at 11:29/10:29c, with host Louis C.K. & musical guest The Chainsmokers.
