If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/2/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, The Celebrity Apprentice returns to NBC, but this time it’s got a new name and a new host. The Donald has been fired, and the contestants on The New Celebrity Apprentice have a brand new boss to impress: Arnold Schwarzenegger! This year’s crop of celebrities includes TV hosts/entertainers Brooke Burke-Charvet, Carson Kressley, Matt Iseman, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, & Porsha Williams, musicians Carnie Wilson, Boy George, & Vince Neil, actors/comedians Carrie Keagan, Jon Lovitz, & Kyle Richards, and sports personalities Chael Sonnen, Eric Dickerson, Laila Ali, Lisa Leslie, & Ricky Williams.

I had quit watching this series many years ago, and even though I don’t really know who half these “celebrities” are, I’m really interested to see how much the series has changed with the move to LA and the addition of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the host. And Arnold also has some new advisers: Tyra Banks and his nephew Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger. Will Arnold use “You’re Fired,” or will he have his own fun new catch phrase? I really hope it involves something like “Hasta La Vista, You Won’t Be Back!”

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “In Here You Call Me Governor; Your Smile’s Gonna Knock Them Out,” sixteen celebrities create a 10-minute beauty experience. Later, they must produce an original song and video for Trident.

Meet the new boss tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Man With a Plan, The Wall, MasterChef Celebrity Showdown, and Beyond.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/22/11

It’s a slower week than last week for television, but there are still a few great shows on to watch. I can’t wait for the summer season to begin, with new seasons of shows like True Blood or Rookie Blue on their way, but for now, we need to wrap up this season of regular programming.

Megan’s Choice

I don’t usually suggest one of the animated comedies that air on FOX, but tonight, I’m going to suggest you watch the seaon finale of Family Guy. I don’t watch it every week, but I have been known to enjoy a giggle or two, especially when Stewie is plotting world domination. 🙂

On tonight’s season finale, it’s part six of the Star Wars triology. Luke (Chris) must negotiate for the life of Han Solo (Peter) with Jabba the Hut (Joe), who has the whip hand, and a henchman named Rancor (Rush Limbaughg).

Tune in to FOX at 9/8c to see this comedic spoof come to it’s end. Learn where to find episodes online of Family Guy @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/15/11

It’s the start of a new week, and it’s a VERY big week indeed! There are tons of great finales, as well as some other great new episodes. We’re going to do our best to highlight what we think you should be watching. If we don’t choose what you would watch, comment below and let us know what you think we should have chosen! Megan is relaxing on vacation, so Jamie is back again this week, as is Jose from Daemonstv.com, so be sure and welcome them back!

Jenny’s Choice #1

My top pick is the season finale and reunion show for Survivor on CBS. I wouldn’t normally recommend this, because there’s always so much else on I think you should watch, but honestly, this season was so much better than last season that I’m actually finishing the season (unlike last time, where I stopped watching only a couple of episodes in!). I love Russell, but he was voted off a good number of weeks back. My other favorite, and possibly now my favorite player even above Russell, is Boston Rob. He is as good a player as Russell, without being as much of an ass about it. lol In addition to Rob, though, we have the craziness that is Phillip (and in Rob’s words, not the N-word crazy, but just crazy crazy lol). Although now? Scott & I are wondering if Phillip is as crazy as he is making himself seem. He’s made one or two comments to the camera and to his sister when she was on the island that makes us think…maybe not. I guess we’ll see!

On tonight’s episode, the last chance for immunity is a fight to the finish with an unlikely pairing of castaways, and the final three plead their case to the jury-find out who will outplay, outwit and outlast the others.

Watch the backstabbing and deal making play out on the 2-hour season finale on CBS at 8/7c, followed by the 1-hour reunion show to find out who wins the big prize at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Survivor @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/8/11

We’re right in the middle of May sweeps, and man, things are heating up! There are finales left and right this week, and those that aren’t finishing their season this week (like Bones, etc), have BIG episodes. Megan left EARLY this morning to go out of town to visit family. Lucky for us, though, she spent some time writing up her thoughts on what you should watch each night so I can post them for her. Everyone wish her a happy vacation! 🙂 To help out this week, since it’s a crazy week, Lisa & I will be doing multiple shows each night, and her sister, Jamie, is also going to be joining us again. Yay! Now, let’s see what we all think you should watch tonight!

Jenny’s Choice #1

My first pick tonight is the new episode of Breakout Kings on A&E at 10/9c. I can’t say enough good things about this show. My enjoyment of the characters and the storylines grow each week. It’s a serious show, but there are several lighter moments each episode to counter balance the heavier stuff. It’s becoming a show I look forward to more and more as the season goes on, and I hope A&E renews it, because it’s very deserving of another season.

My favorite character has to be Lloyd, played by Jimmi Simpson, the genius with a 210 IQ, who graduated high school at 12, college at 16, & med school at 20. He was a successful psychiatrist & published professor in the field of Human Behavior Analysis. He was so smart, he turned to something that he was sure would be more challenging to him: gambling. It spiraled out of control and led him to a 25 year prison sentence. He is the stereotypical genius, with horribly awkward social skills and is just damn fun to watch.

My other favorite character is Erica, played by Serinda Swan (who guest starred on last week’s Hawaii Five-0 as the pregnant model!). Growing up, Erica’s father, a skilled bounty hunter, captured a notorious criminal. From prison, the con ordered a hit on Erica’s father. Five thugs beat him to death. Enraged, Erica tracked and killed each of the thugs one by one, which is why she is in prison. She’s got a volatile temper, which she has to work hard at keeping in check, but she does, because if she slips, she won’t be able to gain an early release to become a mother again to her 6 year old daughter. She’s snarky, but she’s damn good at tracking, and I love her. The rest of the cast is fantastic, too, but Lloyd & Erica are my faves!

On tonight’s episode, a contract killer escapes from prison and immediately begins taking care of many of his unfinished clients, so the team must decipher the common thread connecting all of his victims in an effort to find him and bring him to justice.

Don’t miss the new episode tonight on A&E at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Breakout Kings @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/1/11

It’s Sunday, the start of another week, and there is lots on this week, as we really start May sweeps (ok, technically, it started a few days ago, but…really, it’s called MAY sweeps, not end of April and May sweeps!). What’s on your schedule? For what we think you should watch, check out below!

Jenny’s Choice

There is a lot on tonight that I think you should watch, and even as I write this, I’m not completely clear on what my pick is. lol There’s the season finale of America’s Next Great Restaurant, and that should be fun to see who wins. Then there’s a new episode of Breakout Kings on A&E, which is always a great show. But as much as I’m worried about them screwing up the dynamics of the show by writing Mary McCormack’s real life pregnancy into the show and having her character wind up pregnant by some–as of now–unknown mystery man, I’ve either got to trust The Powers That Be to keep it the show I love, or abandon it altogether. So for now, that’s my pick tonight… the season premiere of In Plain Sight.

The show stars McCormack and Fred Weller as US Marshalls working in WITSEC, the Witness Protection Program. Mary’s character (Mary Shannon) is snarky and bitchy, but she loves what she does, and really cares about the safety of those she’s assigned to protect. Fred’s character (Marshall Mann) has a dry wit, is incredibly knowledgable, and has a … well, semi-secret love for Mary. Together, they make a fantastic team and are incredibly fun to watch.

On tonight’s episode, Mary discovers that Brandi has been wrongfully accused of grand theft auto, so she asks a criminal witness to consult on a crime that she sets into motion in order to lure out the real thief and clear her sister’s name.

Don’t miss it tonight on USA at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of In Plain Sight @ Clicker.
