My pick once again this week is #OneChicago. Boy, I’m enjoying these shows. I’ll just do a quick recap of each one with the highlights… Chicago Med: Creepy vampire kids. The girl was clearly either a really bad girl (not evil, but just…bad!) or delusional. She had the boy so snowed into thinking they were both vampires, because his medical problem caused him to be blistered by the sun. As for relationships… Ethan and April are trying to get pregnant, but while April is wanting to take a laidback approach, Ethan is all about tracking her cycles, being proactive, etc, and it’s pushing April the wrong way – so much so that she nearly kisses Dr. Marcel at the party he and Maggie threw. Thankfully Ethan didn’t see, but could this spell trouble? Guess we’ll see! Oh, and speaking of Maggie… She met a guy while getting her chemotherapy who was also there getting his. Sparks!

Then on Chicago Fire: Severide was approached by a young female lieutenant from OFI (Office of Fire Investigations) who wanted to bring him in to help with the backlog of cases, but he turned her down, said his place was there at 51. But not much later, Boden received a transfer order, sending Severide to OFI. Boden thought for a moment it was Severide’s choice, but Severide thought it was the female lieutenant. But they were both wrong. It was Grissom. Dun dun dun! Grissom had a good point, that they had to go where they were needed…and Severide has good instincts when it comes to sniffing out arsons. So they made a deal that Severide will go over to OFI to help with the backlog, and after a few months, he’ll be free to decide whether he wants to stay or return to 51. Meanwhile, Herrmann clashed with a uniformed CPD officer at a scene, and it looked like he was going to get in big trouble over it (even though he wasn’t really wrong about it and the officer was a repeat reporter douche bag), but fortunately for him, part of Severide’s deal with Grissom is that Grissom is calling off the complaint against Herrmann.

And then finally, on Chicago PD: Darius the big-time drug slinger/gang dude (played by the great Michael Beach) was pulled back in as a CI when a dangerous drug was getting put out on the streets. Things seemed to be going okay…until one of Hailey’s CIs (who had basically become a professional CI for a lot of people/organizations) thought he was smarter than he was and walked into CPD (and into Intelligence’s operational space in the basement!) and showed his face in front of Darius…who then had someone kill him. That really shook Hailey big-time. She felt responsible, but frankly, the guy was an idiot. Not that he deserved to be killed, but dang… And while I won’t spoil it, if you saw the preview for this week’s episode, you know tonight is going to be life changing. Eek!

On tonight’s Chicago Med, “Too Close to the Sun,” Maggie gets unsettling news about a new friend and breaks protocol to support him. One of the doctors from the Med family is rushed into emergency surgery after a violent assault. A social media influencer lets his users vote on medical advice, forcing Dr. Charles to make a decision.

Then on Chicago Fire, “Seeing is Believing,” Severide begins his assignment at the Office of Fire Investigation and gets off on the wrong foot when, despite his orders, he reopens an old case. When the cause of an apartment fire hits close to home, Herrmann is on a mission to get to the bottom of it. Kidd finds herself burning the candle at both ends.

Finally, on Chicago PD, “No Regrets,” after injuring herself while pursuing a suspect, Burgess receives a shocking diagnosis. A homicide case turns into a missing persons case, with a sinister twist. Voight has to decide between justice and the letter of the law.

Spend the evening in Chicago with me tonight on NBC starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Guy’s Grocery Games & S.W.A.T.

I’m torn as to whether or not I am happy with the direction this season of Charmed is taking. On the one hand, it has had a lot of exciting moments, but on the other, I am tired of the sisters not having their powers. Macy still has some powers because of her demon side and Maggie is starting to get bits of power back, but Mel is still just using potions. I want to see the Charmed Ones back to their full strength. Given that the last episode ended with Macy being kidnapped by Harry’s dark lighter, now would be a great time for them to get back to normal so they can save Macy before it’s too late. I’m hoping once their powers return, they will be able to move forward with saving the world again.

On tonight’s episode, “The Truth about Kat and Dogs,” Mel and Maggie attempt to find a missing Macy with a spell while Harry uses a different method – allowing Abigael to help him access his subconscious in an attempt to connect with his dark side.

Find out if they can find Macy tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Magnum P.I., Blue Bloods, and Hawaii Five-0.

A few weeks ago, the 6-episode first season of British zombie comedy series Zomboat! premiered on ITV2 in the UK, but today Hulu takes the series stateside. There’s a sudden zombie outbreak in Birmingham, but sisters Kat (Leah Brotherhead, White Gold) and Jo (Cara Theobold, Absentia) have a plan to survive: head to an island, because zombies can’t swim! Kat believes that her extensive knowledge of zombie films and TV shows and experience at killing zombies in video games is going to help them. However, she quickly realizes that killing a zombie in person is a lot different and that these zombies don’t seem to follow the same rules set forth in TV shows and movies. The two plan to steal Jo’s ex’s narrowboat and sail down the canal to London and then find a nice island to settle on. But as they take off, the sisters discover two stowaways aboard the ship – buddies Sunny (Hamza Jeetooa, Doctor Who) and Amar (Ryan McKen, Bancroft), who were at a stag party during the outbreak.

I checked out the first two episodes of the series and found it to be a fun, dumb show that made me laugh. The characters are all a bit self-absorbed and aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed – though let’s hope they find some if they are to have any hopes of surviving. You wouldn’t think the series could do much with a boat slowly floating down a canal, but so far the writers have found reasons for these characters to make excursions back to the land where the zombies are roaming – whether it be for supplies, to pick up a friend, or something else. The zombies also don’t act the way that you’d traditionally expect them to, so there are some fun surprises. The episodes are only 22 minutes long and have built-in ad breaks, so it’s a light, fun zombie show that doesn’t involve a huge time commitment, and it’s perfect for this Halloween season.

Check out the entire first season now on Hulu!

I’ll also be watching/recording American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, 20/20, The Blacklist, and Van Helsing.

Charmed returns from hiatus tonight, and I am looking forward to seeing the sisters return to my television weekly. When I found out there was going to be a remake before the premiere of the first season, I was worried because I adored the original so much that a remake seemed like a bad idea. Thankfully it was not. The new cast and the 21st century twists the writers have taken really makes this show truly an update and very relevant to today’s culture.

When we left our witch sisters at the end of last season, the Elders had been murdered, leaving the girls in charge going forward. Maggie was still holding out hope that she and Parker could be together, even though he was a demon. Macy had just learned that she could not become the source without her demon blood making her become evil. Thankfully, the love of the sisters saved the day yet again, and we were left wondering what kind of world they would be watching over going forward. I’m interested to see how they play this season out, and if the girls are in charge, then how are they going to balance their lives as well as their duties?

On tonight’s season premiere, “Safe Space,” following the devastating loss of The Elders, Mel, Maggie, and Macy take over their duties. Maggie takes time to celebrate her birthday with a big bash, but Mel finds herself too preoccupied with their new responsibilities to join in the fun. As the girls clean up the following morning, Macy shocks her sisters with an announcement.

Find out if these young witches can handle all this responsibility tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, and Magnum P.I.

When I was a child, I spent many nights lying awake with a flashlight reading Nancy Drew books and picturing myself there helping her solve these mysteries…so I was ecstatic when I heard that The CW was going to have a show this season based on the teenage detective. Tonight is the premiere of Nancy Drew, and I am very interested to see if they can do my childhood favorite the justice it deserves.

Nancy (Kennedy McMann) is an intelligent teenage detective who solves mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine, but when her mother passes away suddenly, Nancy’s plans for college are put on hold. After her mother died, Nancy decided to stop solving crimes and trying to work toward re-applying to college, but a murder in town forces her into the detective life again. She not only decides to start trying to help solve the murder but finds herself a prime suspect along with four other teenagers who now must all team up to clear their names.

The other four people on the suspect list are Nancy’s nemesis from high school, George Fan (Leah Lewis); a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani); Nancy’s secret boyfriend, Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim); and amiable burnout Ace (Alex Saxon, The Fix). The show also stars Scott Wolf (The Night Shift, Party of Five, Everwood) as Nancy’s father, attorney Carson Drew; Alvina August as Detective Karen Hart, who is dating Carson; and Riley Smith (Frequency, Proven Innocent, Studio City, Drive) as Ryan Hudson…who I can’t find anything about, although I believe he is somehow related to the victim.

There is bound to be some exciting times with intense storylines and romantic moments.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene; the teens must team up to clear their own names.

To see if Nancy can help solve this murder and clear everyone’s names, tune in to The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, The Masked Singer, Riverdale, SEAL Team, Almost Family, Guy’s Grocery Games, Stumptown, and S.W.A.T.
