If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/17/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

This week, the Marvel TV universe hits a serious milestone when The Defenders season one is released on Netflix late Thursday/early Friday. Similar to how the separated films of Iron Man, Thor, & Captain America were used as a platform to launch The Avengers as a movie franchise, Netflix built into this team event through two seasons of Daredevil and one each of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, & Iron Fist. I was very let down by Iron Fist and mostly let down by Luke Cage, so I can’t say I am confident this will all go smoothly or that it will satisfy the Marvel Comics nerd in millions of us fan-girls & bois.

Continuity will likely be further mangled, as it seems this show’s big bad is going to be Alexandra Bont, played by Sigourney Weaver. The departure herein being that in the book it was a man named Alexander Bont that was a prominent Daredevil enemy. Screw it, though. Let’s not nitpick on how true-to-the-books these shows are or aren’t. Instead let me hope that this 8-episode crossover packs as much punch as the two Daredevil & one Jessica Jones seasons did. And hey, it IS All-Time Scream Queen Sigourney frackin’ Weaver.

One thing to look forward to is that Marco Ramirez is back as the show runner on this one. It was his direction that made two seasons of Daredevil a pair of consecutive roller-coaster rides that kept us holding on to our hats and screaming the whole way. I had been hoping that Kristyn Ritter, as Jessica Jones, would play a role in the season of Luke Cage, but alas no. It has been leaked, however, that those two will be rekindling a romantic interest in The Defenders, even if only as a plot device to get Jessica in the right place to meet the rest of the motley team. And too bad so sad… No signs of a resurrection of Kilgrave, (played by the former Dr. Who David Tennant) either.

As far as Weaver in the role of Alexandra, we have been led to believe she is more of a grey character than pure evil. Popular speculation at the moment leans towards her being involved with The Hand – a recurring crime organization that runs many parts of the underworld in this universe’s New York City. They would be an easy jump off point to connect Daredevil to Iron Fist at least. The last thing that I’m wondering and hoping for is this: will we see any more of the Punisher, who carried so much of Daredevil season two that it could have been named Frank Castle instead?

We’re gonna have to binge watch and see! You can do that starting super late tonight on Netflix starting at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/11/11

Yay, it’s Friday! I love the weekends, because it means more time spent with my family. My kid just started Spring Break (he is off today and all next week), so I’m going to have PLENTY of family time! Eek. lol Anyway, speaking of family, Lisa is back, although still slightly under the weather. Welcome back, Lisa, and feel better! Now, on to what we think you should watch!

One of my favorite activities is curling up with my hubby and watching some great TV. Our favorite show to watch on Fridays? The Defenders, starring Jim Belushi, Jerry O’Connell, Jurnee Smollett, and Tanya Fischer. We love it, because it’s always highly amusing, while still being incredibly heartwarming occasionally. The two men are defense attorneys who really go above and beyond to defend their clients, and who really care. It’s so much fun to watch. Tonight is the season finale, so please please give this show a chance. I’m crossing my fingers we get a 2nd season!

On tonight’s episode, it’s “Morelli v. Kaczmarek,” when the law firm is no more, because Nick and Pete temporarily dissolve their partnership so they can both represent a couple accused of murdering a yoga instructor. Frank Sinatra Jr. guest stars as himself.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/4/11

I have nothing. Feeling VERY uncreative at the moment. So… Nothing witty here. Just what we think you should watch! 😉 Lisa’s up first, because she & I think you should watch the same show. Her opinion is mine. *grin* – Jenny

Lisa’s Choice

Jim Belushi and Jerry O’Connell make for one snarky team as the legal duo Nick and Pete, who head the law firm of Morelli & Kaczmarek. Lady luck may shine on their careers, but it doesn’t bask as bright on their personal lives. Pete’s always cruising the strip for his next hook up, while Nick is trying to repair his fractured marriage. Together, they keep Las Vegas a little less full of sin and they keep each other well balanced.

Tonight, a hotel owner’s son asks Nick and Pete for help when he wakes up to find a dead body in a hot tub and has no memory of the night before. Also, Kathy Griffin guest stars as Sally, a Vegas insult comic being sued for offending an audience member.

I love the dynamics of the cast on the new show Blue Bloods. If you haven’t given this show a chance yet, you are missing out. The whole cast makes a lasting impression, but Donnie Wahlberg stands out and brings it every single week.

On tonight’s episode, Nicky rides along with Danny to a crime scene, where a girl at a debutante ball has been murdered, and she has a difficult time coping after seeing her first murder victim. Danny and Jackie follow-up a lead after a hotel surveillance camera shows a prostitute giving the victim a hard time.

I always look forward to Friday, not just because it means the weekend is coming, but it’s the day Fringe is on. Now in its third season, Fringe tells the story of a special team that focuses on crazy, bizarre events that can only be explained through the study of Fringe sciences. This season, the Fringe team faces their biggest challenge as they race to stop a Fringe team from an alternate universe from destroying our universe. While the writing on the show is top notch, the acting is what makes it a must watch for me. Anna Torv is incredible as the lead of the Fringe team, Agent Olivia Dunham, while John Noble plays the eccentric, brilliant Dr. Walter Bishop. It’s even more amazing when you realize they also play their alternate universe alter-egos, showing an amazing range and quality in their performances.

Tonight, in an episode titled “6B”, the Fringe team investigates a series of odd events that leads them to the apartment of a widow. At the same time, Olivia and Peter try to repair their friendship after some interference from agents from the alternate universe.

Make sure to catch Fringe tonight at 9/8c on FOX. Learn where to find episodes online of Fringe @ Clicker.
