If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/14/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice #1

Kyle and I differ on when Netflix (as well as Amazon & Hulu) shows should be posted. For me, I’m recommending this one tonight because it premieres in the late hours of the night tonight/wee hours of the morning. That way you can watch it first thing when you wake up (or at 3AM if you can’t sleep! LOL).

On that note, my first pick is Friends from College, which premieres the entire first season on Netflix. Keegan-Michael Key (Playing House, Key & Peele), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Annie Parisse (The Following, Law & Order), Nat Faxon (Ben & Kate, Married), Fred Savage (The Grinder), & Jae Suh Park star as a group of friends from Harvard who are about to turn forty years old. They must balance old friendships, former romantic entanglements, and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.

With Facebook bringing high school and college friends back together, I think this show is very timely. I think a lot of people will be able to relate, and with such a great cast, I have high hopes that it’ll be a lot of fun to watch for everyone.

Check out the entire first season on Netflix tonight/Friday morning at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/1/14

I kind of hate Tuesdays even more than Mondays. On Mondays, I’m typically ready for my family to go back to work or whatever they’re doing. 😉 On Tuesday, though, I can see that it’s still a long ways off from the next weekend, which I hate. *laugh* So yeah. I’m a bit of a mess today. But something that does make me happy are all the great new episodes tonight, so check out our recommendations.

sullivan2012smallLast season on Sullivan & Son, we learned that Steve’s sister, Susan, was married. For the whole first season, I swear we thought she was single, which was why her mom kept harping on her because she’d never find a husband. Either I’m remembering wrong or they changed it up during the second season. Regardless, last week’s premiere definitely pushed the fact that she is definitely married. They were celebrating their anniversary, but she let it slip that he’d never given her an orgasm, so he set out to first kill himself, but then decided to learn how to pleasure her. In the end, Owen let it slip that he’d slept with Susan during high school and had given her many of them. Both Steve and Jason wanted to kill him, but in the end, Steve got to junk-punch Owen and Jason gave Susan a new mini-van AND the big O, so everyone was happy.

Then in the second episode, the gang felt bad when a woman came into the bar and said her husband, Frank, had died and he’d been a fixture in the bar for years and he loved everyone. The guys at the bar tried to scam money from her by pretending to be her husband’s friends and saying he would have wanted them to go to Atlantic City. Ok Cha tried to take her money when she offered to pay for her husband’s bar tab and then tried to charge her for holding a memorial there at the bar. In the end, it turned out Frank hadn’t actually been a regular, that it was the story he’d told his wife while he’d had a 10-year affair. When Steve couldn’t keep the secret anymore, the wife thanked the mistress for making her husband happy, and the gang got nothing. It was a fun two episodes, and I’m looking forward to tonight’s new one.

On tonight’s episode, “About a Boy, His Mother, and the Man They’re Dating,” when Carol reconnects with the handsome Daryl (guest star Charles Shaughnessy), she is suddenly into the idea of having a boyfriend. However, her son Owen also wants a lot of time with Daryl, and now Carol and Owen find themselves fighting over time with the same man. Meanwhile, Ok Cha battles Roy in a spicy food eating contest that captivates the entire bar.

See who wins (both the man and the eating contest) tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Next Great Baker, Rizzoli & Isles, Royal Pains, Buddy’s Bakery Rescue, & Chopped.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/17/14

It’s Tuesday, which, while better than Monday, still sucks. Yes, I’m definitely in a blah mood today. On a good note, there’s some great TV on tonight to make the blah day just a little bit better, so check out what we’re recommending. 🙂

rizzoli&isles617smallMy favorite summer series (by far) and one of my favorite whenever it airs returns tonight. Rizzoli & Isles is really great. It’s a terrific blend of a cop show and lighthearted dramedy. Last season ended on a huge note. Jane decided she was breaking up with Casey (which I absolutely hated—but that shows how much I love the show since they screwed up the couple I ship!), and then she figured out she was pregnant. Frankie’s now a detective, working with Jane, Frost, & Korsak, and he suddenly had a crush on Maura. Maura seemed to be responding well to his attention, and they kissed. Very awkward to me—he seems much too young for her. Maybe he’s not, but… But the big news going into season 5 is Lee Thompson Young’s death. How will the show handle that with his character, Det. Barry Frost? I’ve seen the first two episodes, so I know, but it’s something you’ll just have to watch. That’s certainly not the focus of tonight’s premiere, but it does play heavily into next week’s story lines.

On tonight’s episode, “A New Day,” solving the murder of a jogger takes on even greater urgency when Jane realizes that the motive was theft…of the woman’s baby. As the investigation gets underway, Jane attempts to hide her pregnancy from her snooping mother, and Maura and Frankie face the aftermath of their kiss.

See if they can find the baby and if Jane can keep the big news from Angela tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Royal Pains, Chopped, The Little Couple, Playing House, & The Night Shift.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/27/14

I am absolutely loving all these warm temperatures and beautiful days, even though I know it means that the super humid days of summer are just around the corner. That’s okay, because after the ridiculous winter we had, I am going to enjoy every minute of the heat. When my day has come to an end, it’s time for me to sit my butt down and watch some TV. Let’s see what we’re recommending you watch, too.

Megan’s Choice

riotsmallSummer television is filled with lots of shows that are on purely for entertainment that require no real attention to a story line and are just plain fun. Riot is one of those shows for sure. This show takes two teams of celebrities and comedians and puts them in a series of competitions that have them singing, dancing, and creating comedy sketches while dealing with crazy obstacles, such as a set that’s tilted. The first episode was hilarious, with Steve Carrell sliding all over the place during the sketch. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the insane antics these celebrities get up to. Aren’t you?

On tonight’s episode, “Jason Alexander and Cheryl Hines,” the show features two of television’s favorite comedy stars in the wackiest and funniest song, dance, and sketch challenges, while navigating the show’s trademark one-of-a-kind set, tilted at a 22-degree angle.

To let this great show bring you giggles, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent, The Night Shift, and Extreme Weight Loss.
