underthedome910smallTonight, after 3 seasons and only like a month of elapsed time, the Dome finally comes down in the series finale of Under the Dome. Last week, the Dome continued to calcify, with those trapped inside in increasing danger of suffocating. Christine ordered her kinship to start executing the elderly in order to conserve oxygen and then transferred her own energy into the cocoon holding Eva’s alien baby, the future queen. As a result, she ended up human and was horrified when she saw that her former kinship started moving on to the children. She pretended to still be their queen and tried to order them to stop, but Junior and the others could see through this and went after her, but Barbie stepped in just in time to save her.

The Resistance (and new member Christine) worked feverisly on the plan to bring the Dome down and on a cure for the infected. However, Hektor didn’t want the aliens to get free and wanted to stop Joe before he could bring down the Dome. He tried to kill Joe, but Big Jim got to him first. Meanwhile, the new queen emerged from her cocoon, now a full-sized adult who looked just like Eva. She grabbed Christine and threw her against the Dome wall, causing her to disintegrate.

Can the Resistance stop this new queen before she kills them all? Can they find a cure to save the folks of Chester’s Mill who are under her spell? Can they bring down the Dome before it’s too late? What will happen once the Dome comes down? Why was the Dome there in the first place, and what was the point of all this?

While I enjoyed the first season of Under the Dome, the series quickly went off the rails in season 2, and this past season has been a total mess. This “event series” should have only been a single season, but the creators got greedy and decided to stretch the story out. I really hope they’ve got a good, satisfying ending for us! Those of us who stuck with it (and those just checking back in tonight) deserve a decent resolution and explanation tonight!

On tonight’s finale, “The Enemy Within,” the Dome comes down and the Resistance tries to protect the outside world from the infected townspeople.

To see how the series ends, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Married, Review, and Documentary Now!

underthedome2015smallTonight, Under the Dome returns for another season of craziness with a special 2-hour premiere. When we last left off, the dome was contracting and all of those inside were anxiously looking for some way out. The townsfolk had descended into the crater and followed a path marked by a monarch butterfly. Back on the surface, Pauline was in pain, and Rebecca agreed to assist her with her suicide. However, when Big Jim discovered this, he went off the rails, picked up a hammer, and killed Rebecca with a single blow. He then threatened the dome that if it didn’t bring Pauline back to life, he would start killing all of those with a special bond to it.

When the dome (obviously) didn’t respond, Big Jim headed off to Andrea’s, where he held her at gunpoint as Julia tried to reason with him. But he shot Andrea in the head and then went after Julia, who was able to escape by stabbing Big Jim in the foot. Junior had a stand-off with his father and managed to shoot him in the shoulder. Back in the crater, Barbie was leading the townspeople down the path when they hit a dead end. He touched the wall, and it started to glow, and Melanie appeared, telling the townsfolk to follow her back home.

Where are the townsfolk going — what is “home”? And what about those who weren’t able to cross the gap left by the earthquakes? What is their plan of escape? Will the quakes and dome contraction stop once these others leave? What will those left behind do with Big Jim? Will we ever get an answer to who or what put the dome over Chester’s Mill and why?

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Move On/But I’m Not,” Chester’s Mill residents appear inside and outside the Dome following an evacuation into the tunnels beneath the town. Meanwhile, the Dome begins to reveal its ultimate agenda; and surprising alliances form as new residents emerge.

See what answers we get tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, The Astronaut Wives Club, Rookie Blue, Hannibal, BOOM! , Wayward Pines, The Comedians, and Complications.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/8/14

I was out shopping yesterday, and not only was there Halloween stuff out…but there was Christmas stuff! Honestly, I am not ready to even begin thinking about that yet, so I wish retailers would hold off on their crazy push to get our money. To take my mind off the endless siphon of money that the holidays is bound to bring, let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

masterchef2014smallEvery week of MasterChef, it gets harder and harder to say goodbye to someone because everyone is so good. Last week was a rough episode, and I was surprised that Leslie’s team actually won, especially because of the arguing during the challenge. Watching the pressure test was hard because at first, I thought Jaime would win because she’s a pastry chef, but unfortunately, she cracked under pressure and her croquembouche was sloppy. Jaime going home was sad because she was so nice to most of the contestants and I think she had real talent, but it was great to hear Ramsay say she could work in one of his restaurants.

On tonight’s double episode, “Top 5 Compete/Top 4 Compete,” after the remaining home cooks are surprised with a few VIP guests in the kitchen, each home cook will create a dish inspired by one of their loved ones. The home cook with the best dish will be safe from elimination and move on in the competition, while the remaining home cooks must go with their guts as they prepare rare protein dishes and battle for a spot in the top four. Later, the judges announce a final team challenge that will determine who will advance to the top three.

To see which chefs manage to cook their way to the top three, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Running Wild with Bear Grylls, American Ninja Warrior, Teen Wolf, and Eating America with Anthony Anderson.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/30/14

Summer break has started in my house, which means lots of swimming, fishing, and camping are on the schedule, as well as a few soccer games and trips to the skate park. I predict a very tired mommy soon, so before I lose my energy completely, let’s take a look at what we’re recommending on TV tonight to help me relax.

masterchef2014smallMasterChef has been full of drama this season, yet they still manage to bring excellent food to the table. Last week, Leslie really showed more of his true colors, and I really hope he goes home soon. When he was telling Ahran to “grow some balls,” I wanted to reach through the television and smack him. He may have skated by with that steak last week, but his attitude is going to be his undoing sooner than later. I’m really rooting for Christian, Elise, and Daniel right now and hope they rise to the top fast.

On tonight’s episode, “Top 16 Compete,” in the next mystery box challenge, contestants must prepare a unique dish using various canned foods. The winner will have a significant advantage in the next round and, with the help of MasterChef winner Luca Manfe and MasterChef Junior winner Alexander Weiss, determine which former MasterChef champion’s specialty dish each contestant will prepare in the elimination round.

To see who manages to come out on top, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Mistresses, 24: Live Another Day, Harry Potter: The Making of Diagon Alley, and Teen Wolf.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/16/13

It’s Monday! Normally, that would be cause for boos and hisses, but tonight marks the first night of the fall TV season, and that includes one of my favorite returning shows and one of my favorite new shows. So YAY! To see what we’re recommending, read on. 🙂

bones916smallI was lucky enough to see a screener for the Bones season premiere, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to watch early. I was one of those fans who was incredibly unhappy in the season six finale, when we didn’t see the change in Booth/Brennan’s relationship and she told him she was pregnant. But since, we’ve gotten some fantastic stuff of them as a couple, and I’ve been very pleased. It even got to the point where she proposed to him last season…and then he broke her heart and said he didn’t think they should get married. Even though we knew why he’d done it, it still ticked me off to no end because just when Bones had opened her heart, he ripped it to shreds. I was worried it would set her back years. I’m very pleased to say that, while yes, things are VERY rocky, by the end of the episode, Hart and Stephen had once again renewed my faith. It’s a great, great episode, and I can’t wait to see it again tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “The Secrets in the Proposal,” the remains of an accountant for the State Department are found in a hotel air conditioning unit; Booth finds an Army buddy and CIA agent, Danny Beck, removing evidence from the victim’s condo; Brennan contemplates her future with Booth. Freddie Prinze Jr. & Mather Zickel guest star.

Find out if Brennan comes to a decision tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Ninja Warrior, Sleepy Hollow & Diners, Drive-ins & Dives.
