If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/16/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Tonight, Veep returns to HBO for its sixth season. When we last left off, the state of the presidency was left to a vote by the Senate. Tom James offered Selina the position of vice president should he win the presidency, but she turned this down, saying she would rather be Secretary of State. Selina tried everything to improve public opinion of her, and Jonah even became a Senator so he could vote for her. However, all of this was moot because the vote came down to a tie, and Vice President Doyle made the tie-breaking vote for Laura Montez, because she promised him the job of Secretary of State. And to add insult to injury, moments after Montez was sworn in, she was given credit for freeing Tibet and was said to be in line for the Nobel peace price, which was the legacy that Selina had been working hard to claim for herself.

I’m really curious to see where this season will go now that Selina is no longer in office. What are she and her former staffers up to now? What kind of schemes is Selina plotting to try to establish her legacy? And does she have plans to try to re-run for president?

On tonight’s premiere, “Omaha,” Selina tries to secure her legacy one year after losing the presidency. Meanwhile, Dan tries to fit in at his new job; and Amy’s D.C.-style campaign tactics are a little too rough for her new coworkers.

Catch up with Selina tonight on HBO at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Match Game, Into the Badlands, The Leftovers, and Guerrilla.

gameofthrones614smallYou can’t really go wrong if you just turn on your TV tonight and leave it on HBO… They’ve got such an amazing Sunday lineup!

Last week on Game of Thrones, there were a couple big events. Stannis ordered his own daughter, Princess Shireen, to be burned alive as a sacrifice. In Braavos, Arya decided not to complete her mission of killing the Thin Man and instead followed Meryn Trant to a brothel, where she discovered his proclivity toward young girls. In Dorne, Jamie and Bronn were set free and allowed to take Myrcella back to King’s Landing, but her betrothed was to join them. And the Meereneese fighting pit broke into chaos when the Sons of the Harpy revealed themselves and started attacking Daenerys and her subjects. Just as it looked like all hope was lost, Drogon flew in to save the day, breathing fire on the attackers and letting Daenerys fly away on his back.

Tonight is the season finale, and there are so many storylines to address! Will we see more of King’s Landing? Will King Tommen stop what’s happening to his wife and Cersei, will Jamie get there in time, or is this the end for one or both of them? Will Arya go undercover at the brothel to assassinate Meryn Trant? Will we see more of Jon Snow at the wall? The final episode of the season is usually used for moving around the chess pieces to set things up for the next season, so I doubt we will get the battle for Winterfell tonight. But it’s been an entertaining season, and I look forward to seeing where things are left for next year.

On tonight’s episode, “Mother’s Mercy,” Stannis is on the march in the Season 5 finale. Meanwhile, Cersei seeks forgiveness; Jon faces a new challenge; and Daenerys finds herself surrounded by strangers.

Both of HBO’s Sunday scripted comedies also close out their seasons tonight. Both shows had trials of sorts last week, and tonight we’ll see the fallout of those events. Will the Silicon Valley guys lose Pied Piper now that Richard admitted to using a Hooli computer to test his software? And who will take the blame for all the misdeeds that came to light during the hearing on Veep? Both series have had stellar seasons, and I can’t wait to see how they end!

Catch the entire season finale lineup on HBO starting at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording American Odyssey, Golan the Insatiable, Food Network Star, Halt and Catch Fire, Nurse Jackie, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/16/13

Today, I would like to start by saying Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there—whether biological, adopted, or a stepfather, if you take care of your kids and are a dad to them, we salute you. Secondly, I’d like to take a minute to say happy 8th birthday to my amazing, sarcastic, beautiful, sweet, and blessing of a daughter, Chloe. You, little girl, are by far one of my greatest achievements.

Now to get to the other stuff: what you should be watching on TV tonight.

trueblood616smallI know that waiting sucks, but the wait is over because tonight is the season premiere of True Blood. I’ve got my cuddly blanket, my cup of tea (sorry, no blood for this girl), and I am going to sit back to watch Sookie start the season off in a pool of trouble as usual. I will, of course, also be watching to see my favorite vampire, Eric—hopefully, this season, Sookie and Eric will hook up for good, but I’m sure they’re going to drag that on forever. Whatever this season brings, it’s bound to be filled with delicious story lines, high sexual tension, and vicious fight scenes.

On tonight’s premiere, “Who Are You, Really?” a group flees the Authority compound in the wake of Bill’s reincarnation; Sam, Luna, and Emma evade guards; Alcide learns about the pack master job; Andy parents newborn human-faerie hybrids; Governor Truman Burrell vows open season on vampires.

To get your fix of sexy supernaturals, tune in to HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chopped, Food Network Star, and The Client List.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/28/13

It’s been a weekend filled with sunshine and outdoor fun around here. Thank goodness spring finally decided to come visit! I saw the most amazing woodpecker the other day outside my house, and because I was so distracted with the sunshine, I wasn’t even upset at the incessant tapping. 🙂 Let’s see what we have on TV tonight to keep up my happy spring attitude up.

tarsmallThe Amazing Race is down to the final 5 teams again after last week being a non-elimination round. Max & Katie came in first again, and honestly, I wasn’t happy—I do not like them AT ALL. The country girls are terrible at following, because when the hockey brothers went through a yellow light, the girls fell back. FYI, I would have floored it to keep up with the boys if traffic was clear. On the other hand, the boys were stepping all over people’s toes last episode. I’m still unsure of who I want to win, but I know for sure I don’t want Max & Katie winning, due to the level they annoy me.

On tonight’s episode, “Working Our Barrels Off,” the teams storm a castle. They’ll need strong stomachs, strong backs, and a lot of hot air.

To see which teams make the cut for the top 4, tune in to CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Amazing Race @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Once Upon a Time, The Good Wife, Vikings, Chopped, The Client List, and Cupcake Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/14/13

It’s been a rough week for us (or at least two of us!) here at TViMP. Megan’s still without power after storms blanketed her part of the country (Canada, for those who don’t know. 😉 ) and JJ’s not feeling great, so tonight, it’s just Kyle & me. Enjoy our thoughts on what you should be watching tonight. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

Last week’s episode of Chopped, the All-Stars edition, was a lot of fun. I didn’t think Nadia deserved to go home in the first round, but… *shrug* Chef Gabriele was too cocky and confident in round two, so he was chopped, and I was more than okay with that. Then it came down to Jeff Mauro and Sunny Anderson, which I was happy about. Honestly, I think Jeff should have won, but either way, I was pretty happy.

Competitors this week include Elizabeth Falkner, Chuck Hughes, Gavin Kaysen, & Richard Blais. (He’s my fave of the four and my pick to win, although Falkner will definitely give him a run for his money, unfortunately. I like her about as much as I like Geoffrey Zakarian…) Judges are Chris Santos, Marcus Samuelsson, & Maneet Chauhan, which I am happy about because I love them all.

On tonight’s episode, “Mega Chefs,” big-time contenders with considerable competitive prowess take each other on in the Chopped kitchen. The judges are eager to see what these Mega Chefs can do with sea bass and cream soda in the first round. Then, in the entrée round, the competitors must get their tails in gear to make oxtail and labneh into delicious dishes. It is no piece of cake for the finalists figuring out how to transform a classic snack cake into an elegant dessert.

See who comes out on top tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Chopped @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Mentalist & Vikings.
