wahlburgers2016smallOne of my favorite family reality shows, Wahlburgers, is back tonight on a 1-hour season premiere. Last season, it was more of the same for this fun family: Mark tortured Paul, Paul created a new burger for some football friends, Mark and Donnie got to spend time together in NYC when their schedules overlapped, and new Wahlburger restaurants opened in Toronto and Coney Island. Not to mention we got lots of Alma and brother Bob. I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for the Walberg family this go round.

On tonight’s episode, “Directing Drama,” when Johnny Drama looks to take his music career to the next level, Mark suggests Drama make a music video that Mark himself will direct. The music video will be Drama’s Wahlburgers Rap Jingle and shot down in New Orleans where Mark is filming his latest movie. Mark enlists music mogul Sean “P Diddy” Combs and movie director Peter Berg to help mentor Drama. But filming hits a rough patch when Drama is not comfortable with the alter ego “Drama Boy” that Mark creates for him.

Check out the crazy fun tonight on A&E at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rosewood, Hell’s Kitchen, Property Brothers, & CSI: Cyber.

lacheysbarsmallI’m a big fan of brothers Nick and Drew Lachey. I’ve been a fan of Nick’s for a while, and Drew was my favorite on his season of Dancing with the Stars. So when I learned that they were starring in a new docu-reality show, I knew I was there. The show follows Nick and Drew as they fulfill a lifelong dream of opening a bar in their hometown of Cincinnati. Together, they’ll get involved with everything, from the ground up, including learning about running a business. Drew and his wife Lea live in Cincinnati full time with their kids, while Nick and his wife Vanessa split their time between Cincinnati and LA and, at the time of filming, were about to welcome a new baby into their family. (Since then, they’ve had a baby girl.) So the show should be a lot of fun!

On tonight’s episode, “A Bar is Born!,” Nick returns to Cincinnati, where he and Drew are opening a bar together. They must quickly make several key decisions about the bar and decide to embark on a pub crawl as a means of research.

See the brothers on their home turf tonight on A&E at 10:30/9:30c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/20/14

Here’s hoping my Wednesday will be better than my Tuesday was. My kiddo went to bed Monday night feeling a little sucky but not too bad…but woke up Tuesday morning feeling major sucky—sore throat, horrible hacking cough… Needless to say, he stayed home from school and slept all morning. Poor thing. 🙁 That did mean we got to catch up on some TV in the afternoon before he did some homework, though, so that’s not a bad thing. 🙂 Let’s see what Megan, Kyle, & I are recommending tonight so you have an idea of what to watch.

Jenny’s Choice

motive2014asmallMy pick tonight is the new episode of Motive. Last week was kind of heartbreaking. A skeezy (REALLY skeezy) real-estate developer was found dead. He was shot three times—twice with blanks, once with a live round. The killer(s) turned out to be three brothers who’d made a deal with the guy, who’d then backed out and kicked them out of their house and garage anyway—even after their little sister had…given herself to him to make a deal. Murder’s wrong, but damn, the guy was a creep. I felt really bad for the family. 🙁 Then at the end of the episode, Angie got notice that the defense was calling her to testify against Mark Cross. My question is…can she change her mind and testify for the prosecution, even though she’s already said no? It would mean lying, but…either way, she’ll have to lie, and she’s kind of screwed. Tonight’s the next to last episode of the season. I’m curious as to how it’s going to play out!

On tonight’s episode, “Kiss of Death,” after a best-selling murder mystery author is poisoned with a rare toxin, Detectives Flynn and Vega must determine fan from foe. Meanwhile, Detective Lucas’ personal life takes a hit, while Angie receives a pleasant surprise, courtesy of Vega. Enuka Okuma (Traci on Rookie Blue) guest stars!

See what surprise Vega gives Angie tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Penn & Teller: Fool Us, So You Think You Can Dance, Young & Hungry, Mystery Girls, America’s Got Talent, Property Brothers, Restaurant Stakeout, Rowhouse Showdown, Legends, Hot in Cleveland, Tiny House Nation, Taxi Brooklyn, Mystery Diners, Top Chef Duels, & Wahlburgers.

TV on DVD Review – Wahlburgers Season 1

wahlburgersdvdgiveaway717smallSeason 2 of Wahlburgers is premiering soon, and I couldn’t be more excited. I loved the first season because I’m a big fan of Donnie’s, and the family dynamics just drew me in and kept me captivated the whole time. I wish Alma was my mother—although I think I’m glad I only had two siblings, not eight!

Season 1 recently came out on DVD. Included in the two-disc set are all nine episodes of the season plus a few extras.

I would be hard-pressed to pick my favorite episode, but one that really sticks out in my mind is “Pauliday,” which centered around Paul’s birthday. Donnie showed up with a surprise and took him out, and it really was cute to see them bonding. Paul is so serious compared to both Donnie and Mark, and he was able to loosen up a bit and have fun, and that was great to see.

As for the extras on the DVD, there are plenty. They are short little extras about different things that happened over the season. My favorite is “Family Origins,” which is all about the family origins and how the Wahlburgers restaurant came about. Hearing Alma talk about her family is amazing. Her love truly shines. Another favorite is “Wahlburgers Jingle,” because Donnie brought in my favorite New Kid, Joey McIntyre, to pull a prank on Paul about the jingle, and in the extra, I loved being reminded of that episode and seeing Paul sing it to himself.

All in all, if you’re a fan of the show, the DVD is totally worth the money. The show is so much fun, and the family is truly enjoyable to watch. Amazon is selling it for $12.98. Make your coffee at home for two or three days and get this DVD set so you can rewatch Season 1 before Season 2 starts on Wednesday, August 13, on A&E at 10/9c.
