Tonight is the series premiere of All-Star Academy on Food Network at 9/8c. Ten talented and successful home cooks from around the country compete in intense culinary challenges as they are mentored by some of Food Network’s most popular chefs, while competing for a $50,000 grand prize. Hosted by Ted Allen, each competitor, with the guidance of their mentor, must compete over eight episodes in challenges that would propose difficulties for even professional chefs, while elevating their culinary skills to make it to the finish line. With the support of superstar chefs Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Curtis Stone, and Michael Symon, each home cook not only has to impress their world-class chef mentor but the special guest judges as well, who help determine who will make the cut in the dreaded elimination round. One-by-one, the challengers are eliminated, leaving one final contender standing with a $50,000 grand prize. Special guest judges include Donatella Arpaia, Elizabeth Falkner, Amanda Freitag, Robert Irvine, Chef John Li, Simon Majumdar, and Geoffrey Zakarian.

Tonight is also the 1-hour series premiere of The Last Man on Earth on FOX at 9/8c. This new single-camera comedy that chronicles the life and adventures of an average guy – and humanity’s last hope – who discovers what life is like when no one is telling you what you can and cannot do. The year is 2020, and after a deadly virus has swept the planet, only one man is left on earth: PHIL MILLER (Forte). He used to be just an average guy who loved his family and hated his job. Now, in his RV, Phil searches the country for other survivors. He has traveled to every city, every town and every outpost in the United States, Mexico and Canada, and has found no one. As he returns to his hometown of Tucson, Phil comes to the painful realization that he is almost certainly the last living being on the face of the earth. All he wants is for someone – anyone – to find him in Tucson – preferably a woman. Be careful what you wish for, Phil…

Tonight is also the 2-hour series premiere of Secrets and Lies on ABC at 9/8c. Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) is about to go from Good Samaritan to murder suspect after he discovers the body of his neighbor’s young son, Tom Murphy, in the woods. Even as Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis) digs for the truth in her investigation and pegs Ben as a “person of interest,” the case unfolds from Ben’s perspective — whether he is guilty or not. In trying to clear his name, it is Ben who peels back the layers of these suburbanites’ lives in their quiet cul de sac, revealing their dirty little deceptions and all-too-crowded closets overflowing with skeletons. No one is above suspicion. Ben’s family’s life, already privately in disarray, is turned upside down as he sets out on a complicated journey to prove his innocence. Also stars Charles Dutton, Dan Fogler, Indiana Evans, KaDee Strickland, Kate Ashfield, Natalie Martinez, & Steven Brand.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Battle Creek on CBS at 10/9c. Special Agent Avery Ryan heads the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI, a unit at the forefront of solving illegal activities that start in the mind, live online and play out in the real world. While other FBI agents search for criminals in dark homes and alleys, Ryan and her team search the “dark net,” a place deep in the bowels of the Web where criminals are anonymous, money is untraceable and where everything is for sale with just a keystroke. Leaving something you like because it’s clearly not working out is a tough decision, whether that involves matters of the heart, or real estate. With the cost of home ownership out of reach for many, some people are deciding whether or not a major move promising an improvement in lifestyle is worth it. LA-based real estate expert, Courtney Poulos, in partnership with Curbed.com, will help home seekers work through their real estate issues.
