Jenny’s Choice #1
My first pick tonight is another comedy. I just did this one recently, but tonight’s the season finale of Last Man Standing, and given that it hasn’t been picked up for another season and tonight could end up being the series finale, I wanted to recommend it again. Last week, the status of Eve’s relationship — if there even was a relationship — with Chuck & Carol Larabee’s son was up in the air. We finally learned that Eve just had Brandon helping teach her golf because she didn’t want to disappoint her dad because she wasn’t a natural at the game. In the end, though, there sure was a look between Eve and Brandon… Makes me think there COULD be something there in the future.
On tonight’s episode, “Daddy Dearest,†when Mike and Ed take Ryan and his supposedly ailing dad, Victor, on their hunting trip, Victor admits he wasn’t truthful about his reasons for finally coming to see Ryan. Meanwhile, Vanessa scrambles to get more family members to attend Ryan and Kristin’s wedding. Jere Burns (Justified) guest stars.
See if Ryan and Kristin’s wedding goes off without a hitch and find out Victor’s secret tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

Tonight we get a double-dose of The Amazing Race as the six remaining teams head to Namibia for back-to-back new episodes. Last week, the teams were in Monaco, where the first task was a Roadblock in which one of each team’s members had to scour the city for roses and chocolates for his or her partner. Afterwards, a spin of the roulette wheel decided each team’s Detour — either recreating cologne/perfume from a recipe and unmarked bottles or taking a harrowing zipline/walk 2000 feet in the air.
Somehow, Hayley & Blair managed to not bicker entire leg and ended up in first — they could actually win this thing if they can keep getting along with one another! And in the end, it was Jeff & Jackie who were eliminated. They got lost in Monaco and never managed to recover.
While Haley & Blair were mending their relationship, some of the other teams started to crack. Dating couple Mike & Rochelle bickered for the first time on the race. And blind dater Jenny blamed her partner Jelani for losing their map, but little did she know that Laura & Tyler knowingly stole it. There are just 3 blind dating teams and 3 pre-existing couples left. Can Haley & Blair maintain their newfound harmony? Will Laura & Tyler get some karmic payback? Who will be eliminated next?
On tonight’s episode, “Back in Business; Moment of Truth (Namibia),” the race continues in Namibia, where a flat tire deflates one team’s hope of leading the pack. The racers also face a Double U-Turn.
See which teams are left after tonight’s two hours on CBS at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Cristela, Grimm, The Messengers, and Childrens Hospital.
Jenny’s Choice #2
My second pick is…the season finale of Cristela. Last week, Cris spent hours studying, both with the people at work and without, for the bar exam. At first, Maddie said she was going to wait six months to take it when they did it again, but she came around in the end and decided to go ahead and take it. Meanwhile, Cris almost didn’t take it after Daniela lost her job and their mother went into “village mode†and nearly demanded that Cris put it off. My shipper heart squee’d when Josh heard what was going on and secretly went over to Cris’s house to confront her mother. In the end, she’d made the decision to tell her mother where to stick it (so to speak…), so she was there in time to take over when Josh almost faltered against Natalia. We left the episode with Cris, Josh, and Maddie hovered around Josh’s computer to view the results of the bar.
This show’s status is up in the air as well, and it pains my heart. I truly adore it — the characters, the story lines, the way it balances Cris’s work and family life… It’s one of my favorite shows (comedy or drama) of the last few years, so I really have my fingers crossed that we’ll get another season! Surely ABC can do something with it to give it a better chance of gaining an audience… New night? Pair it up with the ABC comedies on Wednesday or something?
On tonight’s episode, “Movin’ On Up,†Cristela, Josh, and Maddie find out the results of the bar exam, with a few surprises thrown in. When Cristela goes home to tell her family the news, she learns that Daniela wants her to move out.
Find out who passed and who didn’t tonight on ABC at 8:31/7:31c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Grimm, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, & Bride By Design.
