Tonight, NBC is reuniting the cast of Parks and Recreation for a special hour of TV. The series originally ran on the network from 2009-15 and featured an amazing cast, including Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir, and Retta.

Tonight’s event begins with The Paley Center Salutes Parks and Recreation, a half-hour special that looks back on some of the show’s most iconic moments over its seven seasons, as well as some fun behind-the-scenes stories from the cast. This will be followed by the all-new A Parks and Recreation Special, a brand-new episode of the series that was filmed by the actors at their homes during this time of isolation. The producers have stated that all of the original characters from the series will return, as well as several guest stars from the Pawnee universe. When the series ended, it was sad to say good-bye to these quirky characters, but I am so excited that we’ll get to take this trip back to Pawnee to get an update on Leslie Knope and the gang. This show always made me laugh, and I am really looking forward to this new episode – I am especially interested to see if/how they work in the fact that Chris Pratt has become a major film star since he initially took on the role of the dim-witted, out-of-shape Andy Dwyer!

On tonight’s special, “A Parks and Recreation Special,” Leslie Knope connects with her friends from the Pawnee Parks and Recreation department – Ron Swanson, Andy Dwyer, April Ludgate, Ben Wyatt, Tom Haverford, Donna Meagle, Ann Perkins, Chris Traeger, and more – to check in during a challenging time.

The special and new episode air tonight on NBC starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Young Sheldon, Council of Dads, Top Chef, and Tacoma FD.

Friday night is finally here, and I am so excited I could burst! Tonight my television will be tuned into CBS all night for three of my favorite shows: MacGyver, Hawaii Five-0, and Blue Bloods. First up, let’s discuss MacGyver.

Last season we left off with Mac learning that his dad was actually Overwatch and had been in charge of him all along. This didn’t make him overly happy. He was incredibly upset that Maddy had lied to him and that his father had been hiding in plain sight this whole time. After saving the day together, Mac decided he could no longer work for his dad or Maddy because he didn’t trust them. I understand where he’s coming from because how could you just move on after learning that your father had basically been controlling your future your whole life from the shadows? Hopefully Mac will decide to come back to Phoenix, because obviously nothing will be the same without him.

On tonight’s premiere, “Improvise,” three months after quitting the Phoenix Foundation and moving to Nigeria, Mac puts aside his differences with his father and returns when he hears Jack is the target of a murderous dictator he double-crossed.

To see how this homecoming goes, tune in to CBS at 8/7c.

lastmanstanding417smallMy first pick tonight is another comedy. I just did this one recently, but tonight’s the season finale of Last Man Standing, and given that it hasn’t been picked up for another season and tonight could end up being the series finale, I wanted to recommend it again. Last week, the status of Eve’s relationship — if there even was a relationship — with Chuck & Carol Larabee’s son was up in the air. We finally learned that Eve just had Brandon helping teach her golf because she didn’t want to disappoint her dad because she wasn’t a natural at the game. In the end, though, there sure was a look between Eve and Brandon… Makes me think there COULD be something there in the future.

On tonight’s episode, “Daddy Dearest,” when Mike and Ed take Ryan and his supposedly ailing dad, Victor, on their hunting trip, Victor admits he wasn’t truthful about his reasons for finally coming to see Ryan. Meanwhile, Vanessa scrambles to get more family members to attend Ryan and Kristin’s wedding. Jere Burns (Justified) guest stars.

See if Ryan and Kristin’s wedding goes off without a hitch and find out Victor’s secret tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/3/14

October is here, bringing with it beautiful colors, pumpkin spice lattes, and my favorite part: cooler temperatures. Fall weather is simply the most gorgeous of all seasons in my opinion. Bring on the chilly, crisp nights and the mild days. What it also brings is more new television, so let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

hawaiifiveo103smallWell, my TV romance has been rekindled with season five of Hawaii Five-0 kicking off last week, and what a delicious episode it was. I know, I know… It is possible that I may be a little biased and slightly deranged when it comes to my love of Alex O’Loughlin and this show, but honestly, I don’t care. The opening scene of Danny and McGarrett doing therapy was fantastic and made my week! The other part that really made the episode for me was the way the writers have seemed to learn how to balance the episode and give all the characters story arcs. Adam proposed to Kono, but we don’t know if she really wants to accept, but we do know she’s very scared of losing him. Having more of Jerry (Jorge Garcia) around as the resident conspiracy theorist is never a bad thing in my opinion because he is amusing and beneficial at the same time. What I’m not looking forward to is not having Catherine around yet—when will she be back? I want to see more of the chivalric side of McGarrett, like that scene from last season when he carried her down the stairs. (Confession: It is very possible that in my deluded head, I was dreaming he was actually carrying me…even though I am far from the size of Catherine and he’d be very winded carrying my chubby ass—nonetheless, a girl can dream.) Regardless of the lack of Catherine and opportunities to daydream, I am very pleased and excited that the show is back, and I’m looking forward to seeing what this season brings.

On tonight’s episode, “Ka Makuakane (Family Man),” Five-0 investigates when the young daughter of a Navy Seal currently on a top-secret mission is kidnapped. Meanwhile, with his brother’s life on the line, Danny must locate the $18.5 million he owes his captors.

To see if Danny can come to the rescue, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Blue Bloods, The Amazing Race, Last Man Standing, Shark Tank, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, and Z Nation.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/25/14

It’s been another busy week, and I am glad that the weekend is finally here. Unfortunately, I’ve been having some problems with my DVR, which ended up with all my recordings being deleted. Yes, I’m very upset. I’m going to try to get over the sad loss as I await my new PVR. (Okay, I know it’s a first world problem, but it still sucks to the extreme!) In the meantime, while I await my PVR, let’s see what we’re recommending for tonight.

hawaiifiveo425smallHawaii Five-0 is back with an all-new episode, and I am super excited for another dose of my favorite sexy crime fighters. Last episode was very stressful, watching McGarrett and Danny trapped in the rubble from the explosion. I was actually worried that Danny wasn’t going to make it. In the end, the two of them were saved, and Danny had a new outlook on life after McGarrett told him to stop looking for the bad in life. We also learned that the body in the grave was actually Wo Fat’s mother because the wrong person was killed causing a CIA cover-up that they don’t want McGarrett messing around with. I think it’s going to get a whole lot more complicated before this gets cleared up.

On tonight’s episode, “Pe’Epe’s Kainaka (Those Among Us),” the team uncovers a possible terrorist cell of radicalized students who are plotting an attack on U.S. soil.

To see if they can stop the attack before it’s too late, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.
