Tonight is the series premiere of Life in Pieces on CBS at 8:31/7:31c. This is a single-camera comedy about one big happy family and their sometimes awkward, often hilarious and ultimately beautiful milestone moments as told by its various members. Of the three siblings, middle child Matt (Thomas Sadoski) may have just found his true love, his co-worker, Colleen (Angelique Cabral); his coddled youngest brother, Greg (Colin Hanks), and his wife, Jen (Zoe Lister-Jones), are overwhelmed by the birth of their first child; and the eldest, Heather (Betsy Brandt), and her husband, Tim (Dan Bakkedahl), are dreading their impending empty nest so much, they’re considering having another baby. Their parents are Joan (Dianne Wiest), the family’s adoring matriarch who would do anything for her kids — as long as she agrees with it — and John (James Brolin), the gregarious patriarch who’s searching for ways to soften the blow of turning 70. As the family’s lives unfold in four short stories each week, they try to savor these little pieces of time that flash by but stay with you forever, because these moments add up to what life’s all about.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Minority Report on FOX at 9/8c. The future is coming. Based on the international blockbuster film by executive producer Steven Spielberg and the first of his films to be adapted for television, Minority Report follows the unlikely partnership between a man haunted by the future and a cop haunted by her past, as they race to stop the worst crimes of the year 2065 before they happen. Set in Washington, D.C., it is 10 years after the demise of Precrime, a law enforcement agency tasked with identifying and eliminating criminals…before their crimes were committed. To carry out this brand of justice, the agency used three precogs — “precognitives” Dash, Arthur and Agatha — who were able to see the future. Now, in 2065, crime-solving is different, and justice leans more on sophisticated and trusted technology than on the instincts of the precogs. Precog Dash (Stark Sands, Inside Llewyn Davis) — driven by his terrifying, but fragmented visions — now has returned in secret to help a brash, but shrewd police detective, Lara Vega (Meagan Good, Think Like A Man franchise, Californication), attempt to stop the murders that he predicts. As they navigate this future America, they will search for Dash’s missing twin brother, Arthur (Nick Zano, What I Like About You), and elude others who will stop at nothing to exploit their precog abilities. Also complicating matters is Dash and Arthur’s ingenious, but reclusive, foster sister, Agatha (Laura Regan, Mad Men, Unbreakable), who just wants Dash to return home. A drama of crime and conspiracy, this is a timeless story of connection: two lost souls, Dash and Vega, who find friendship, purpose and redemption in each other.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Blindspot on NBC at 10/9c. A vast international plot explodes when a beautiful Jane Doe, completely covered in mysterious, intricate tattoos, is discovered naked in Times Square with no memory of who she is or how she got there. But there’s one tattoo that is impossible to miss: the name of FBI agent Kurt Weller, emblazoned across her back. “Jane,” Agent Weller and the rest of the FBI quickly realize that each mark on her body is a crime to solve, leading them closer to the truth about her identity and the mysteries to be revealed. The cast includes Sullivan Stapleton, Jaimie Alexander, Audrey Esparza, Rob Brown, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ukweli Roach and Ashley Johnson.

Tonight is the series premiere of The Muppets on ABC at 8/7c. The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for “kids” of all ages.

Tonight is also the 2-hour series premiere of Scream Queens on FOX at 8/7c. The girls of Kappa House are dying for new pledges. Scream Queens is a new killer comedy-horror series from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning executive producers of Glee and American Horror Story. Wallace University is rocked by a string of murders. Kappa House, the most sought-after sorority for pledges, is ruled with an iron fist (in a pink glove) by its Queen Bitch, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts, American Horror Story: Freak Show, Scream 4). But when anti-Kappa Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis, Halloween) decrees that sorority pledging must be open to all students, and not just the school’s silver-spooned elite, all hell is about to break loose, as a devil-clad killer begins wreaking havoc, claiming one victim, one episode at a time. Part black comedy, part slasher flick, Scream Queens is a modern take on the classic whodunit, in which every character has a motive for murder…or could easily be the next blood-soaked casualty. The show stars Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Lea Michele (Glee), Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, Zombieland, August: Osage County), Nasim Pedrad (Saturday Night Live), Oliver Hudson (Nashville, Rules of Engagement), Skyler Samuels (American Horror Story: Coven), Keke Palmer (Akeela and the Bee, Masters of Sex), newcomer Billie Lourd, Diego Bonita (Rock of Ages), Glen Powell (The Expendables 3), Lucien Laviscount (Episodes), Niecy Nash (Getting On, The Soul Man), pop superstar and actor Nick Jonas (Kingdom), and Grammy Award nominee and actress Ariana Grande.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Bazillion Dollar Club on Syfy at 10/9c. The show follows Dave McClure, a relentless drill sergeant who founded software accelerator 500 Startups, and Brady Forrest, the quirky and creative mind behind the hardware accelerator Highway1. Their companies offer two of the world’s most aggressive accelerator programs that mentor startups leading up to the launch of their billion dollar idea. In every episode, Dave and Brady mentor a different hardware or software startup (which they’ve also invested in, P.S.) through an accelator program (read: startup boot camp). At the end, each company must present their product to a group of potential investors who hold the power to take the startup to the next level…or not.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Limitless on CBS at 10/9c. Based on the feature film, Limitless is a fast-paced drama about Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. Working closely with Brian in the major case squad in New York City is Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), a formidable investigator with a dark past, and Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper), a former military officer and Rebecca’s confidante. They report to Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a canny manipulator of the reins of power. Unbeknownst to the FBI, Brian also has a clandestine relationship with Senator Edward Mora (Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, recurring), a presidential hopeful and regular user of NZT who has plans of his own for his new protégé. Fueled now with a steady supply of NZT that enables him to use 100% of his brain capacity, Brian is more effective than all of the FBI agents combined, making him a criminal’s worst nightmare and the greatest asset the Bureau has ever possessed.

Tonight is the series premiere of Rosewood on FOX at 8/7c. Set against the vibrant backdrop of one of the world’s hottest cities – Miami – new medical procedural, Rosewood is the story of Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, JR. (Morris Chestnut, Nurse Jackie, The Best Man franchise), the city’s top private pathologist. Brilliant, cool with tons of charisma, Rosewood teams up with the tough-as-nails Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz, The After), to uncover clues no one else sees and help the Miami PD solve the city’s most challenging cases. While she’s impressed by Rosewood’s incredible abilities, his constant optimism is more annoying than it is infectious. But somehow, week-to-week, this unlikely tag team will solve many crimes together. Joining Rosewood in his practice are his sister and “toxicology queen,” Pippy (Gabrielle Dennis, The Game); and DNA specialist Tara Milly Izikoff aka TMI (Anna Konkle, Man Seeking Woman, Betas), who is Pippy’s fiancée. Rosewood’s mom, Donna (Lorraine Toussaint, Orange is the New Black), is on the cusp of some major life changes that will affect her children profoundly. A matriarch with a lot of strong opinions, Shirley holds family gatherings sacred and makes Rosewood’s love life a regular topic of conversation. Rounding out the cast is Miami PD’s Captain Ira Hornstock (Domenick Lombardozzi, The Wire) who is a great team leader but is terrible at managing his own life. Hornstock and Rosewood have a complicated relationship: while he can’t stand Rosewood’s big personality and sunny disposition, he acknowledges Rosewood’s stellar contributions to the department. Plagued with his own set of medical ailments, Rosewood believes that every moment of life, no matter how small, should be embraced and lived to the fullest. This heightened awareness allows him to see details on bodies that others cannot. But what drives him most are the victims who are stripped of life’s moments.

Tonight is the series premiere of Step It Up on Lifetime at 10/9c. In the all-new Lifetime docu-series Step It Up, Traci Young-Byron, a former Miami Heat Dancer and longtime team captain, is the owner of the elite dance company, the Young Contemporary Dance Theatre (YCDT). Traci’s competitiveness, especially her fierce rivalry with Bring It!‘s Miss D and her Dancing Dolls, leads her to use unconventional methods to motivate her co-ed dance team. For this company, the biggest competition isn’t other teams; it’s each other, as they must dance their hearts out to earn a coveted spot in a high-stakes performance each week. Over the course of eight hour-long episodes, the YCDT dancers push themselves to the limit to perform at high-profile events. Traci’s tough, no-nonsense attitude prepares her meticulously trained and always-on-point dancers, who vary in age, for the myriad dance genres they face, including ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, West African and hip-hop.

Saturday

Saturday is the season finale of America’s Next Weatherman on TBS at 11/10c.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Fame Kills on Reelz at 8/7c. Lurking behind the red carpets, swanky homes and star-studded parties is a seedier side of celebrity filled with jealousy, competition, greed and murder. Fame Kills shares the stories of rising stars whose journeys toward the privileged world of celebrity were cut short during deadly encounters. With re-enactments, interviews with friends, family, witnesses and detectives from the case, each hour-long episode covers one mesmerizing story from rise to fall, from unsolved crime to closed case and the characters are straight out of a classic whodunit film—but these stories are real and the endings are anything but happy.

Following that is the series premiere of Behind the Screams on Reelz at 9/8c. Psycho, The Exorcist, and The Silence of the Lambs are some of the most terrifying horror movies ever put on screen but the shocking reality is these movies were inspired by actual events. Behind the Screams presents these iconic images of horror—a young boy gripped by demonic possession, an axe-murderer chasing a teen through the woods—and pulls back the curtain to reveal the real story. From serial killers to documented paranormal encounters, truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and each one-hour episode examines the hair-raising true incidents that sparked some of the most gripping big screen stories.
