Tonight is the series premiere of Food Network Star Kids on Food Network at 8/7c. The best kid cooks in the country compete on this new series. Hosted by actress-turned-food celebrity Tia Mowry and popular food writer, photographer and social media star Donal Skehan, the competition features 10 talented junior finalists participating in a variety of culinary, on-camera and social media challenges over six episodes, for the chance to become the first-ever Food Network Star Kids winner, walking away with their own series on FoodNetwork.com and a feature in Food Network Magazine.

Tonight is also the 2-hour series premiere of Too Close to Home on TLC at 9/8c. TLC’s first-ever scripted series, Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home, tells the story of a young woman from a modest upbringing who discovers she may have a bright future in Washington D.C.’s fast-paced political scene. When Anna (Danielle Savre) leaves her trailer park home in Alabama in a cloud of dust, she cuts all ties with her family and buries every element of her checkered past. Her friends in Washington think she comes from a wealthy family and know nothing of her real upbringing. Suddenly, the real Anna is exposed when she causes a major political scandal and makes national headlines for her part in an affair with one of the nation’s most powerful players. With nowhere to turn, she’s forced to find sanctuary in the only place she has left: home. Anna’s new reality may prove too much for her to handle. Back in the ironically named town of Happy, Alabama, Anna reunites with her controlling mother, Jolene (Trisha Rae Stahl); her sweet yet overburdened sister, Bonnie (Kelly Sullivan); and her drug-addicted sister, Shelby (Brooke Anne Smith). Although she’s left behind a mess in D.C., there are serious problems brewing in Happy and Anna is quickly thrown into the drama. She also has to confront unfinished business with her high school sweetheart, Brody (Brock O’Hurn). Broken and battered, Anna must ultimately seek help and forgiveness from the same people she abandoned for a “better” life.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Cheer Squad on Freeform at 10/9c. Step inside the lives of two-time world cheerleading champions, The Great White Sharks, as they battle through an intense cheer season in an effort to keep their championship crown. The Great White Sharks are a sisterhood, there for each other through first loves, new jobs, bad breakups, and everything in between. But they are also elite athletes, idolized by thousands and members of one of the best all-star cheerleading team in the world. This show will follow the two-time World Cheerleading Champions on the long road to defending their title as they try to balance life off the mat with the all-consuming battle to stay on top.

Tonight is the series premiere of Better Late Than Never on NBC at 10/9c. NBC is taking five celebrated men from across genres on an epic adventure throughout Asia with its new alternative comedy series. Award-winning actor, producer, writer and director Henry Winkler (Royal Pains, Happy Days), Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor, director and writer William Shatner (The Practice, Star Trek), celebrated football legend and NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw (Fox NFL Sunday), boxing Hall of Famer and gold medal winner turned businessman George Foreman, and comedian Jeff Dye (NBC’s I Can Do That) embark on the ultimate international excursion with no assistants, no limousines and no lattes, in search of an intimate, life-changing experience. The one-hour series travels to Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Phuket and Chiang Mai before heading home. The five navigate their way through each city — communicating with the local population, immersing themselves in local traditions and enjoying exotic food — all the while dealing with the unexpected twists and turns that any trip presents. As they check off items on their own personal bucket lists, the five rely on each other for support and encouragement and, in the process, demonstrate that friendship is the ultimate gift.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Milwaukee Blacksmith on History Channel at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. Kent Knapp and his children make their living in the 5,000 year-old craft of blacksmithing. Behind the power of his hundred year-old screw press, and 135 year-old anvil, Kent built his business from the ground up. These expert craftsmen forge everything from bank vaults to bike frames and any large steel piece you can dream up. Kent has made it his mission to pass the trade down to his children, but to carry the business into the future they will have to learn to work together as a team.

Tonight is also the series premiere of One Shot on BET at 10/9c. BET Networks is on a nationwide search to find America’s next big rap star. The talent competition will scour the nation to find the next explosive rap star with mass appeal, on-the-fly musicianship and command of the stage. The show is hosted by iconic hip hop and radio personality Sway Calloway. Each episode travels to a different city: Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami and Chicago where contestants will face off to secure his or her spot at the grand finale in New York City. The show’s judges feature an elite roster of industry experts including Mike Smith, Kxng Crooked and King Tech. They will be joined each week by different celebrity guest judges including T.I., RZA, DJ Khaled, Twista, Tech N9ne and DJ Drama and together will critique and offer guidance to the hip hop hopefuls and handpick the best of the crop. While thousands of talented men and women applied, only the nation’s hottest emcees were selected to compete for a cash prize of $100,000, a record deal with SMH Entertainment and bragging rights to be named America’s hottest emcee. All is at stake for the contestants. The series will give viewers a bird’s eye view of what it takes to be the greatest in the game and reveal the sacrifices many hip hop stars must make to accomplish their goals and dreams. In the end, only one will drop the mic and win the coveted title of America’s number one rap star.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Playhouse Masters on TLC at 10/9c. Every child’s wish is to create their own fictional world, and a whimsical playhouse is the perfect setting for their ideas to come alive. Tyson and Audy Leavitt create the most elaborate, over-the-top playhouses out of their family-run shop called “Charmed Playhouses.” We’ll follow the couple from design to installation as they turn their cute clients’ dreams into reality.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of You Can Do Better on TruTV at 10:30/9:30c. This is a guide to all those real-life skills you’re expected to know but no one ever taught you – things like how to get a bartender’s attention, the best ways to go on a road trip and determining when lying is the right thing to do. Hosts Matthew Latkiewicz and Abbi Crutchfield mix sketches, expert advice and on-the-street interviews to help viewers get their life game on point.

Tonight is the 2 1/2-hour series premiere of Gomorrah on Sundance Channel at 10/9c. Based on the best-selling book by journalist Roberto Saviano, the show charts the course of a great criminal empire and explores the complex family ties and interpersonal dynamics within this emotionally fraught and dangerous world. Within this powerful clan are figures both big and small who battle alongside and against their ‘family members’ and rivals. Don Pietro is the head of the Savastano clan, one of the most powerful and influential Neapolitan crime families, and embodies the role of the distinguished old-school godfather. His power is based on force, and violence is his means of silencing any and all challengers. At his side is Ciro Di Marzio, the picture of an obedient and self-assured right-hand man. Ciro knows better than anyone what it means to be a loyal clan member, but his faith in the ‘family’ is shaken when he realizes what ends Don Pietro will go to in order to keep his power. When Don Pietro is sidelined by a long jail sentence, Ciro’s own code of honor forces him to obey Pietro’s orders: he is to guide and protect Pietro’s son Genny, the heir to the Savastano empire, grooming him to take his father’s place until Don Pietro is free to command once more. While attempting to carve out his own foothold of power within the clan, Ciro must contend with Genny’s youthful impulsiveness, the iron will of Don Pietro’s wife, Lady Imma, the family’s growing unrest without their godfather and rival organizations bent on claiming Savastano territory.
