Tonight is the series premiere of Pivoting on FOX at 8:30/7:30c. A single-camera comedy about how we deal with life, death and all the crazy things that happen in between; set in a small, middle-class town in Long Island, NY, the series follows three women — and close-knit childhood friends — as they cope with the death of the fourth member of their group. When faced with the reality that life is short, these women pivot, and alter their current paths, by way of a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions. These pivots will strengthen their bond and prove it’s never too late to screw up your life in the pursuit of happiness. For Amy (Eliza Coupe, Happy EndingsModern Family) and 18-month-old Julia — she’s absolutely terrified. Despite her lack of maternal instincts, her husband, Henry (Tommy Dewey, Casual), a contractor who never loses his cool, perfectly counter-balances Amy in all of her flaws. Her pivot is to be a more active, present mother. Jodie (Ginnifer Goodwin, Once Upon a Time) is a stay-at-home mom of three in a loveless marriage. Her husband is a controlling, finance-obsessed jerk, but Jodie has never even considered that the grass might be greener anywhere else. When she does, her pivot means getting in shape…and maybe more with her hot 25-year-old trainer, Matt (JT Neal, Bless This Mess), who gives her the attention, affection and excitement she didn’t realize she had been craving for years. Sarah (Maggie Q, Designated Survivor) is a successful doctor — an MD and PhD, as she will readily let anyone know. For Sarah, the loss of their friend is compounded by the recent divorce from her wife. After a life filled with stress, Sarah is sent into a tailspin that launches her pivot to a simpler, and thus happier life — working as a grocery store employee. Written by Liz Astrof (The Conners, 2 Broke Girls), Pivoting takes a real look at three intelligent, empowered and seemingly enlightened women who decide to stop and hit the reset button. For all three of these women, the untimely and heartbreaking death of their friend was the wake-up call they didn’t know they needed, but might be just the thing that helps them live their best lives.

Tonight is the series premiere of Smiling Friends on Cartoon Network at 12AM/11PMc. Adult Swim will be turning frowns upside down with Smiling Friends, its newest animated comedy series premiering Sunday, with two new episodes. Smiling Friends follows the employees of a small company dedicated to bringing happiness to a bizarre yet colorful world. The company consists of cynical Charlie and star employee Pim, each tasked with out-calls to cheer people up. There’s also meticulous Allan who keeps things in order, mysterious Glep, and the unpredictable billionaire Boss who founded the company.

Overnight was the feature film premiere Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror on Acorn TV. This is the first feature-length documentary on the history of folk horror, exploring the phenomenon from its beginnings in a trilogy of films – Michael Reeves’ Witchfinder General (1968), Piers Haggard’s Blood on Satan’s Claw (1971), and Robin Hardy’s The Wicker Man (1973) – through its proliferation on British television in the 1970s and its culturally specific manifestations in American, Asian, Australian and European horror, to the genre’s revival over the last decade. While exploring the key cinematic signposts of folk horror – touching on over 200 films, television plays and episodes as well as early inspirational literature – the film also examines the rise of paganism in the late 1960s, the prominence of the witch-figure in connection with second wave feminism, the ecological movement of the 1970s, the genre’s emphasis on landscape and psychogeography, and American manifestations of folk horror from Mariners’ tales and early colonial history to Southern Gothic and backwoods horror. Finally, the film navigates through the muddy politics of folk nostalgia. The term “folk horror” is a loaded one, and Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched explores the many ways that we alternately celebrate, conceal and manipulate our own histories in an attempt to find spiritual resonance in our surroundings. Over 50 interviewees appear in the film, including Piers Haggard (director, Blood on Satan’s Claw), Lawrence Gordon Clark (director, A Ghost Story for Christmas series), Jeremy Dyson (co-founder, The League of Gentlemen), Alice Lowe (director, Prevenge), Robert Eggers (director, The Witch), Jonathan Rigby (author, American Gothic), Adam Scovell (author, Folk Horror: Hours Dreadful and Things Strange), Andy Paciorek (founder, Folk Horror Revival), Howard David Ingham (author, We Don’t Go Back: A Watcher’s Guide to Folk Horror), Alexandra Heller-Nicholas (author, 1000 Women in Horror), Kat Ellinger (editor, Diabolique Magazine), Maisha Wester (author, African American Gothic), and many more, as well as archival interviews with Robin Hardy (director, The Wicker Man) and Anthony Shaffer (writer, The Wicker Man).

Tonight is the series premiere of The Kings of Napa on OWN at 8/7c. The series is focused on a gorgeous and picturesque Napa Valley, California vineyard owned by the Kings, an aspirational African American family whose wealth and status lands them on the pages of design magazines and society pages. The wine business has brought the family success and acclaim, but following the patriarch’s sudden exit from the company, his three children must grapple for the reigns to the kingdom — to their own power, wealth, and legacy. It stars Ashlee Brian, Devike Parikh, Ebonee Noel, Isiah Whitlock Jr, Karen LeBlanc, Rance Nix, & Yaani King Mondschein.

Tonight is the series premiere of Naomi on The CW at 9/8c. Starring Kaci Walfall (Army Wives, Power, & The Lion King on Broadway) in the title role, the DC drama Naomi follows the journey of a cool, confident, comic book-loving teenager as she pursues her hidden destiny. When a supernatural event shakes her small hometown of Port Oswego, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, with a little help from her fiercely loyal best friend Annabelle (Mary-Charles Jones, Kevin Can Wait). She also has the support of her adoptive, doting parents, veteran military officer Greg (Barry Watson, 7th Heaven) and linguist Jennifer (Mouzam Makkar, The Fix). After an encounter with Zumbado (Cranston Johnson, Filthy Rich), the mysterious owner of a used car lot, leaves her shaken, Naomi turns to tattoo shop owner Dee (Alexander Wraith, Orange Is the New Black), who becomes her reluctant mentor. While unraveling the mystery of herself, Naomi also navigates her high school friendships with both military kids and local townies, including ex-boyfriend and high school jock Nathan (Daniel Puig, The System); Annabelle’s longtime, loyal boyfriend Jacob (Aidan Gemme, Deliver Us From Evil); proud “townie” Anthony (Will Meyers, Bad Education); and fellow comic book enthusiast Lourdes (newcomer Camila Moreno). As Naomi journeys to the heights of the Multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes. It also stars Stephanie March (Law & Order).

Tonight is the series premiere of I am Shauna Rae on TLC at 10/9c. Shauna Rae may look like a child, but she desperately wants to be treated like an adult. The series follows Shauna as she navigates the extraordinary challenge of trying to live a normal adult life despite her appearance. Diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer at six months old, Shauna’s treatment allowed for remission, but resulted in a side effect no one predicted – she stopped growing. The chemotherapy made her pituitary gland almost dormant, leaving Shauna with a childlike appearance and standing at only 3 feet and 10 inches tall — the average size of an 8-year-old. Except, Shauna is 22.

Tonight is the series premiere of Small Town Secrets on VICE at 10/9c. Connersville, Indiana is haunted by the disappearance of Denise Pflum and the countless rumors about what happened to her. Overnight was the complete first season premiere of My Mom, Your Dad on HBO Max. The original reality dating series follows a group of single parents who have been nominated by their college-age kids for a second chance at love. The parents move into a house together, unaware that their adult children are right down the street living in a second house, watching their every move through hidden cameras and manipulating their encounters. From humorous cringe moments to heartwarming confessions, the kids will see their parents in a whole new light as they are presented with opportunities to select who they’ll be matched with on one-on-one dates, and who may join the family Thanksgiving for years to come.

Overnight is the series premiere of Peacemaker on HBO Max. The DC series will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in James Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. The series stars John Cena as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith.

Overnight was the complete first season premiere of Wolf Like Me on Peacock. Everyone brings their own set of baggage to a new relationship. Gary (Josh Gad) and Mary (Isla Fisher) are no different. The universe brought these two together for a reason. They just need to keep following the signs.

Tonight is the series premiere of Married to Real Estate on HGTV at 9/8c. Powerhouse real estate broker and designer Egypt Sherrod and her husband, builder Mike Jackson, know plenty about juggling booming property businesses, pleasing clients, managing a home and raising three daughters – and they make it look effortless and fun in their new HGTV series Married to Real Estate. Egypt and Mike will marry their considerable complementary talents to help families land a perfect home in their ideal neighborhood. Egypt will leverage her knowledge of the housing market, financial prowess and design sensibilities – skills she honed in her business life and as the star of her HGTV hit series Property Virgins and Flipping Virgins – to find affordable houses in desirable Metro Atlanta locations for her clients. And, with smart expenditures that yield breathtaking results, Mike and his team will renovate the properties to help increase their value and return on investment.

Tonight is the series premiere of Taking the Stand on A&E at 10/9c. Taking the Stand tells the story of a crime from the unique lens of the accused as they take the witness stand. Hosted by Dan Abrams, each episode will cover everything from first-hand defendant testimony, juxtaposed with the contentious cross examination to the final verdict. There is a reason that taking the witness stand in your own defense is a gamble that very few criminal defendants ever take. In addition to interviews with key members of the investigation, the series features original video from law enforcement, surveillance camera footage, 911 audio recordings, digital forensic evidence and some exclusive interviews and responses from the defendants themselves, to provide an in-depth look at dozens of raw and real cases.

Overnight was the Discovery+ special, Scream: The True Story. Do you like scary movies? Scream may be one of the most successful horror movie franchises of all time, but the real fright lies in its terrifyingly true roots – the horrific story of serial killer Danny Rolling, aka The Gainesville Ripper. Now, just in time for the release of the newest Scream movie, Scream: The True Story, the latest installment in the Shock Docs series, delves into the real-life horror of a murderer who believed he was a possessed by a demon and whose gruesome crime spree inspired the blockbuster film. The docu-special – through a groundbreaking paranormal investigation, archival media and expert interviews – takes a closer look at the alleged diabolical forces involved and whether Rolling’s spirit still lurks in the shadows. Beginning in 1989, Danny Rolling stalked and murdered eight victims in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Gainesville, Florida, including five college students. Rolling claimed he was possessed by a demon named “Gemini” when he committed his crimes; he was eventually convicted and executed in 2006. Now, paranormal investigator Steve Shippy and renowned psychic medium Cindy Kaza join forces to uncover the truth behind Rolling’s claims that a demon made him kill. Shippy and Kaza are the first to ever conduct a paranormal investigation at the campsite near the University of Florida campus from which Rolling stalked his victims, as well as inside his childhood home in Louisiana, where aggressive poltergeist activity plagues the current homeowners. Interviews with experts and those connected to the case, including Rolling’s ex-fiancée, reveal that evil has run in his family for generations. Shippy and Kaza are confronted by powerful malevolent energy during their intense investigation – could it be the demonic force that possessed Rolling, or is it the spirit of Rolling himself? Fearing for everyone’s safety, they call in a demonologist to conduct an exorcism and help battle off the evil forces.

The film will highlight the personal stories of victims like George Floyd, Philando Castile, Eric Garner, and others who have been killed by the police. The documentary will take an in-depth look into the history of encounters between police and communities of color; chronicle the journey of the victims’ families as they take on the effort to combat police brutality; provide commentary from thought leaders about the policies and tactics enacted by law enforcement; and debate the politics of our country regarding the use of deadly force by law enforcement.
