Tonight is the series premiere of Ridley on PBS at 8/7c. Retired Detective Inspector Alex Ridley is called back to advise on a complex and compelling murder case by his replacement and former protege DI Carol Farman. Carol is keen to access Ridley’s unique insight into crime-solving which served them so well in the past, but the investigation takes a dark and unexpected twist. Created by Paul Matthew Thompson, this thought-provoking original series is inspired by real-life retired detectives re-joining police forces in consultancy roles. Adrian Dunbar, George Bukhari, Bronagh Waugh, Georgie Glen, Terence Maynard, Julie Graham, & Bhavna Limbachia.
 
Tonight is the network series premiere of The Walking Dead: Dead City on AMC at 9/8c. The series already premiered the previous Thursday on AMC+. The show follows the popular Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. It also stars Gaius Charles, Jonathan Higginbotham, Karina Ortiz, Mahina Napoleon, & Zeljko Ivanek.

Overnight was the standup comedy special Rob Schneider: Woke Up in America on FOX Nation. Filmed in front of a live audience in Tampa, the special features Schneider’s signature comedic take on a variety of topics, including culture wars, living in a woke world, and navigating the nuanced times of identity politics.
 
Tonight is the UPtv movie The Secret Sauce at 7/6c. Laura, a Chicago marketing executive, is sent to entice smalltown BBQ joint owner Jim to let her company license his family’s secret sauce. It stars Corey Sevier & Tori Anderson.
 
Tonight is the 1-hour Reelz special Guns n’ Roses: America’s Most Dangerous Band at 9/8c. Exploring the rise of one of the most notorious rock bands of the 1980s; with sales of over 100 million records and fans all over the globe, Guns n’ Roses is one of the biggest acts in music history.

Tonight is the limited series premiere of Black Pop: Celebrating the Power of Black Culture on E! at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9/8c. The 4-episode series, xecutive produced by Stephen Curry and narrated by La La Anthony, explores how the influence of Black culture is more than a trend as perseverance, excellence and the undeniable impact through music, television, sports and film changed the culture forever.
 
Tonight is the series premiere of One Star Reviews on VICE at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. Online reviews can make or break a business, and enough one star reviews can be the kiss of death. Overnight was the premiere of the documentary film Take Care of Maya on Netflix. When 10-year-old Maya Kowalski was admitted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2016, nothing could have prepared her or her family for what they were about to go through. As the medical team tried to understand her rare illness, they began to question the basic truths that bound the Kowalskis together. Suddenly, Maya was in state custody – despite two parents who were desperate to bring their daughter home. The story of the Kowalski family – as told in their own words – will change the way you look at children’s healthcare forever.
 
Tonight is the 3-hour special Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom on CNN & OWN. Popular African American artists come together for the annual celebration of a holiday that marks the end of slavery in the U.S.
 
Tonight is the 1-hour special The Boxcar Murderer on ID at 10/9c. An empathetic young man decides to go on the adventure of a lifetime when he takes off with a group of train hoppers to see the country; right before his scheduled return home, he disappears, sparking an arduous search of America’s train routes.
 
Tonight is the 1-hour Soul of a Nation special, “Hip-Hop at 50: Rhythms, Rhymes & Reflections”, on ABC at 10/9c. A celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, featuring thought-provoking conversations with artists, producers, executives and changemakers in the industry; a look at the history of hip-hop, its origins, growth and evolution over the last 50 years.

Overnight was the complete first season premiere Extraordinary Birder with Christian Cooper on Disney+. The first episode premiered Saturday, June 17, on Nat Geo Wild and will continue to air there weekly. Life-long birder Christian Cooper takes us into the wild, wonderful and unpredictable world of birds. Whether braving stormy seas in Alaska for puffins, trekking into rainforests in Puerto Rico for parrots, or scaling a bridge in Manhattan for a peregrine falcon, he does whatever it takes to learn about these extraordinary feathered creatures and show us the remarkable world in the sky above.
 
Overnight was the series premiere of Secret Invasion on Disney+. Set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity. Tonight is the series premiere of LA Fire & Rescue on NBC at 8/7c. From Dick Wolf, this new docuseries offers unprecedented access to the inner workings of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Responsible for protecting the lives and property of four million residents living in 59 cities across Los Angeles County, the LACoFD’s 2,300 square miles of service is unlike any other in the United States. From helicopter mountain rescues and lifeguard beach SOS, to fireboats, hazmat units and California’s raging wildfires, the department does it all. The series documents real calls and real drama while giving faces to the passionate fire firefighters who risk their lives in the name of service. These real-life heroes and their compelling stories are told alongside the unpredictable dangers they face on the front lines of life and death.

Overnight was the Tubi documentary Love You to Death: Gabby Petito. When aspiring social media influencer Gabby Petito goes missing and her fiancé Brian Laundrie disappears, the hunt for the couple grips the nation.
 
Tonight is the premiere of the documentary film The Stroll on HBO at 9/8c. When Director Kristen Lovell moved to New York City in the 1990s and began to transition, she was fired from her job. With so few options to earn money to survive, Kristen, like many transgender women of color during this era, began sex work in an area known as “The Stroll” in the Meatpacking District of lower Manhattan, where trans women congregated and forged a deep camaraderie to protect each other from harassment and violence. Reuniting her sisters to tell this essential New York story from their first-hand experiences, Kristen’s intimate narration and interviews bring an astonishing array of archival material of bygone New York from the 1970s through the early 2000s to life.

Overnight was the 2-episode series premiere of Clean Sweep on AMC+ & Sundance Now. Starring Charlene McKenna (Bloodlands, Peaky Blinders), the suspenseful Irish series is told from the point-of-view of the killer who is also, unusually, a self-sacrificing mother and wife. Shelly Mohan (McKenna) is super mom. Her secret power? Multitasking. She juggles the complex lives and schedules of three kids, ages 10, 11 and 15. Her days are filled with cooking and cleaning, shopping and chauffeuring and somehow manages to have a home-cooked meal on the table by the time her husband Jason (Barry Ward, Anne Boleyn, Des), a Galway Garda detective, arrives home every night. It’s chaotic and hectic and mostly thankless but it is a life Shelly is happy with. But when a dark secret emerges from her past, she makes a fatal choice to prevent the truth from surfacing. In this adult animated series, shipwrecked in the South Pacific, a group of explorers encounter a menagerie of fearsome creatures — including the giant ape who rules the island: Kong. It stars Darren Barnet, Benjamin Bratt, Nicolas Cantu, Mae Whitman, & Betty Gilpin.
 
Tonight is the series premiere of Trippin’ with Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris on E! at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. It’s time to pack your bags and cross the pond. Anthony Anderson owes his Mama Doris a lot, as she gave up her own dreams of being an actress to raise him. As a token of his appreciation, he is treating her to the trip of a lifetime – a six-week excursion through England, France and Italy – to discover some of Europe’s wonders for her first time and experience a real, cultural vacation filled with history and luxury. Whether it’s walking in African fashion week, hunting for truffles or taking elaborate cooking classes, spending this amount of quality time together will be a real test for their relationship as the pair disagree on most anything and everything. In each of the eight episodes, the series will bring chaos, frustration and heartfelt moments as Anthony and Mama Doris navigate other cultures and their mother/son relationship.

Overnight was the premiere of the feature film Gridiron Grind on Tubi. A guarded high school female football player fights sexism, sibling rivalry, and self-acceptance on and and off the field. While Riley Brooks navigates rejoining the team at the varsity level and striving to win the school’s first championship in decades, her complex relationships with a secretive love interest, her feminine mother, and her changing male teammates proves even more challenging.

The film stars Carolina Gaitán and Allan Hawco as an American couple on the brink of divorce who travel to the country for a work conference. While on a hike through the rainforest, a storm causes them to become trapped in a pit of quicksand. Unable to move, it becomes a struggle for survival as they battle the elements of the jungle and a venomous snake in order to escape.

A fashion editor’s career comeback hits a snag when she learns the charming young stranger she kissed at a party is her new coworker — and her boss’s son. Tonight is the series premiere of Love & Marriage: Detroit on OWN at 9/8c. Detroit is on the rise and so are the people. It’s a city where Black culture is strong. Three couples and longtime family friends want to show the world that Detroit is more than just grit, abandoned factories and 8 Mile Road. This reemerging city is all about family, friendship, business, excellence and of course, love and marriage. Love & Marriage: Detroit will center on a group of African American families with deep ties to Detroit who have decided to stay in the city and prove they can provide the best lives possible for their families in this community on a comeback. Russell and Kolby Harris, Brandon and Kristina Bowman Smith, and Anthony and Dr. LaToya Thompson will star in the series. In the premiere season, secrets and past deeds haunt the couples as relationship cracks are exposed, and issues surrounding faith, resentment and broken lines of communication are tackled head on.
 
Tonight is the series premiere of Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators on Ovation at 7/6c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 8/7c. Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators stars Mark Benton as the hard-boiled Frank Hathaway and Jo Joyner as his rookie sidekick Lu Shakespeare and is created by Paul Matthew Thompson and Jude Tindall. The unlikely pair forms a partnership as they investigate extramarital affairs, murderous magicians, abducted au pairs, and more in Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwickshire. Despite their constant disagreements, the duo makes a good team in the action packed, fun-filled drama.

Tonight is the TV movie Keyshia Cole: This Is My Story on Lifetime at 8/7c. Multiple Grammy® award nominee Keyshia Cole will executive produce and make her acting debut, playing herself, in this new Lifetime biopic. The story follows Keyshia through her early days in Oakland honing her musical talents, to her rise to a multi-platinum selling recording artist and television personality, to her complicated yet warmhearted relationship with her mother Frankie Lons (Debbi Morgan.) It’s a story of childhood trauma, tragedy, complexity of love and overcoming obstacles to become the best version of oneself. Cindi Davis and Brittney Level also star.
 
Tonight is the TV movie Make Me a Match on Hallmark at 8/7c. Vivi enlists the help of an Indian Matchmaker, Raina, to change her fate in love. However, Raina’s son Boom just might be the change Vivi needed all along. Starring Rushi Kota and Eva Bourne.
