Tonight is the series premiere of STAX: Soulsville U.S.A. on HBO at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10/9c. It tells the story of an underdog record label comprised of Black and white collaborators who ushered in the groundbreaking, industry-altering soul music of Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, The Staple Singers, Sam & Dave and many others that defined a generation. Driven by instinct and defying the notion that Black artists needed to be “made marketable,” the Memphis-based label went from ultimate outsider to one of the most influential producers of Black music – finding its place inside the broader mainstream record industry. Stax became more than a record label; it transformed into a beacon of Black freedom. It is a quintessentially American story of an audacious group of individuals who dared to make their own music on their own terms creating an institution that has continued to help define our culture long after the label itself has gone. This is the story of Stax. As raw and honest as the sounds the label laid to vinyl.

Overnight was the complete limited series premiere of Lolla: The Story of Lollapalooza on Paramount+. In the summer of 1991, the Lollapalooza music festival was born. What started as a farewell tour for the band Jane’s Addiction rose from the underground to launch a cultural movement and change music forever. The series depicts the exciting and strangely symbiotic 30+ year relationship between the iconic festival and Perry Farrell. Throughout the series, Farrell reconnects with what the event has become and reflects on the festival’s cultural significance across multiple genres and decades.

Overnight was the series premiere of Destination Heaven on Great American Pure Flix. This new faith drama stars accomplished actor Harry Lennix (The Blacklist, Man of Steel) as God. In each episode, God will encounter people in a myriad of circumstances who all believe they’re doing the right things only to discover their approach to being good is going through the motions rather than growing emotionally or intellectually from the circumstance. It also stars Emily Rose, Kevin Sorbo, & Tim Bensch.

Overnight was the premiere of the feature film Atlas on Netflix. A brilliant counterterrorism analyst with a deep distrust of AI discovers it might be her only hope when a mission to capture a renegade robot goes awry. It stars Jennifer Lopez, Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Mark Strong, Abraham Popoola, & Lana Parrilla.
 
Overnight was the premiere of the feature film Mr. Manhattan on Great American Pure Flix. The film tells the story of successful lawyer Mason Bradley (Carlos PenaVega), who believes there’s nothing he can’t handle. That is, until he gets the news that his brother and sister-in-law died and made Mason their children’s legal guardian. Even though he has zero parenting experience, he steps into his new role with can-do bravado, but between a demanding new client and moving his niece and nephew into his not-exactly-child-friendly Manhattan loft, it’s not long before Mason realizes he needs help. The kids want that help to come from their mom’s best friend and hometown babysitter, Dani (Alexa PenaVega) – who also happens to be Mason’s ex-fiancé.
 
Overnight was the premiere of the documentary film The Beach Boys on Disney+. The film is a celebration of the legendary band that revolutionized pop music, and the iconic, harmonious sound they created that personified the California dream, captivating fans for generations and generations to come. The documentary traces the band from humble family beginnings and features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, plus other luminaries in the music business, including Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was. Viewers will also hear from the group’s Carl and Dennis Wilson in their own words, plus view a new interview with Blondie Chaplin and hear audio from Ricky Fataar.
 
Overnight was the premiere of the feature film War of the Worlds: Extinction on Tubi. An alien invasion threatens to destroy an already dying Earth using a pre-historic doomsday device with triggers buried across the globe. In order to save what’s left of mankind, a group military leaders and expert archeologists must stop the aliens from reaching these ancient sites and activating Earth’s ultimate demise. It stars William Baldwin, Jessy Holtermann, Kate Hodge, Annamaria Demara, & Michael Pare.
 
Tonight is the ABC News Special Print It Black on Hulu at 8:01/7:01c. The documentary is about the local Uvalde newspaper’s response to the Robb Elementary School mass shooting and the fallout that hit home. After the devastating tragedy, Uvalde Leader-News journalists are left to report on the fallout – and on one of their own staff members. Reporter Kimberly Rubio rose to national prominence as an advocate for gun reform after her 10-year-old daughter, Lexi, was killed in the shooting. Told through the lens of the journalists’ reporting, the social fabric of a small Texas town unravels as Kimberly and other victims’ families search for accountability from law enforcement and local leaders.
